Senator Yee should probe the hiring of John Garamendi Jr. to a $216,000 a year U.C. job circa 2005 (when pension and benefits are added, Garamendi Jr. must’ve been a 1% Percenter). It’s odd that a man in his early 30s would be appointed to that post. The “Garamendi” name and the fact that Daddy is a prominent politician likely are what got him the job. It didn’t hurt that Daddy became a member of the UC Regents in 2007. U.C. students are paying higher tuition and U.C. faculty and staff are sacrificing to pay for cushy jobs for people like Garamendi, Jr. This is the behavior of the “1% Percent” who divert government resources to their own personal benefit. UC Davis students should help to oust Garamendi Sr. from Congress when he runs in the new district in the 2012 election. The Garamendi family has profited at UC students’ and staff members’ expense.

Well I guess he’ll continue to be an alumnus, but when he’s termed out soon his political career after his beyond embarrassing defeat in the SF mayor’s race is as dead as Osama bin Laden.

Thus ends the career of one of the biggest idiots in the history of the CA leg. And that’s saying a LOT!
