I don’t think we need an Alameda County politician like Don Perata on the CoCo Board of Supervisors, that was my point. He has reputation for being bad on ethics, for being a slot machine for special interests groups, notably developers. I prefer board members who are ethical. All board members must raise money to fun for office from time to time, but that doesn’t make them a stooges for special interest groups. Board members vote for things opposed by thier campaign contributors all the time. What makes you a special interest slot machine – like Don Perata – is when you spend all your time fund raising and running errands for your contributors, which sums up Perata’ career in a nutshell. He is a disaster on ethics, that’s why he lost the Mayor’s race in Oakland.

Lars54, you need not worry about any of the 2nd Supervisory candidates representing Martinez. It is no longer in the 2nd Supervisory District. The district runs basically along the 24 and 680 South corridors….Orinda, Moraga, Lafayette, Saranap, Alamo, Danville, San Ramon, and perhaps the unincorporated part of Walnut Creek along Rudgear Road.

As far as the candidates go, Tomi is an honest, delightful, intelligent, conscientious, educated woman, who served as chief of staff for another supervisor. She is not a lawyer, which as far as I’m concerned is a good thing. She’s one of us…those she will represent. I recently heard the questions she asked of the County Manager at a meeting and these showed a level of perspicacity well beyond what I have heard on the current board, seeing them on TV. Tomi knows the problems of the county and can hit the deck running. She’s no carpetbagger. She’s a solid, strong woman and will a do an excellent job.

Please get a clue and realize this is going to happen — as we currently live in an society where politics are decided by money, not votes.

Until you and your fellow minions demand serious campaign finance reform (severe restrictions on personal and corporate campaign donations, much more reliance on public financing for serious, qualified candidates, etc.), “them what got the gold are gonna make the rules”…
