Would shore up evalgelical support (get them out to vote) but might backfire with independents. I wonder how people would react to a ticket that combines a former Mormon bishop and an evangelical.

Romney once said he thought Cheney was a model for VP selection. I took that to mean somebody with depth of experience in governing (for better or worse) at the national level. The governor of NM would be a twofer (Latino and female). Rob Portman would represent experience and appeal to independents but, like Romney, is a bit bland.
