The noisy, eardrum busting long guns fired (with blanks) at the end of the parade in Danville every year are shotguns, which are “long guns” having nothing to do with WW II or saving me from, as you put it, “having to learn German.”

By the way, Uncle Sam trained me on an M-14 and M-16 in the late sixties. So, while I appreciate your tutorial (“a rifle is a long gun”), I reckon most of us, even stupid little me, already had that figured out.

Gosh, I wasn’t aware that shotguns (the guns used by the Devil Mountain Brigade at the end of the parade) were used to win World War II. Who knew?

Those so-called “long guns” (that you deride) that were used in the 40′s helped keep you (and your family to be) from having to learn German — so I would be appreciative if I were you — just sayin’.

Life is rough, and some people are evil — so a “well-placed” bullet (definitely NOT the kind that hit Gabby Giffords, as an example to clarify what I mean by “well-placed”) — helps society progress and advance toward a better world for all who remain.

Someone should arrange for this so-called public servant to be planted in the middle of a forested area (circa 1850) without any modern appliances (and especially no firearms) so that he can experience for himself just how easy it is for most folks to rustle up some food for themselves and their loved ones (since Safeway.com is NOT about to answer the call, even if a call could be made) -- but wait, perhaps this is why he's reluctant to do that: Portantino as "wolf bait" -- the fat one on the right

Oh thank goodness!! I have been so afraid to even leave the house. We should be so grateful for our state legislature who has our safety in mind. Thankful for Anthony Portantino to ensure our government is there to protect us, even if it requires us giving up a few liberties here and there.
