Rho Khanna, as Josh has pointed out, has raised over 1.4 million for a proposed 2014 run for Pete Stark's seat. Apparently with Nancy Pelosi's blessing. If Stark is re-elected he will be functioning as a kind of "placeholder" for Khanna. So we've got this Pete Stark - who has been kept in office for 40 years by gerrymandered districts and Washington DC special interest money, as the Washington DC backed candidate for the 15th district in 2012, followed by this Rho Kanna guy, who is being financed by Silicon Valley CEO's and venture capitalists.
As a blue collar worker I must tell you I'm not liking the candidates Washington DC has picked out for me for the 15th district in 2012, or 2014. Not at all. The fact that we've got all this special interest money flowing into Stark's and Khanna's campaigns - most of it out of district money, just indicates Washington DC has a more-of-the-same plan for the 15th district. No vision, no new ideas, just another cynical election where us voters get a lot of mailers dumped into our mail-boxes.
I like this kid running, 32 year old Dublin City Councilman and Alameda County prosecutor Eric Swalwell. He's a local hometown hero, he's raising money locally, he's running a grassroots campaign, a campaign based on new ideas, a new vision for the US. In my mind he is the middle class jobs candidate, he will fight for middle class and figure out way to stop all this red ink we have in DC. Voters have real chance this time - regular working people, to send DC a message, no more business as usual. Swalwell is the change candidate, I think, so I am excited about his campaign.

I have to compliment Swalwell - at least he raised his money from inside the district. Corbett however raised her money primarily from trial lawyers from outside the district - it's all special interest money. Even Khanna raised over $200k from inside the district. Corbett looks more and more desperate.

Pete Stark has been running for political office since 1969. At age 81 it has come time for Stark to hang up cleats, but apparently he is planning to serve in Congress forever. The fact that he's about ready for a rest home doesn't seem to discourage him, he's apparently has many more terms in Congress planned!
Voters, in my view, passed this redistricting ballot measure to get rid of the permanent Congress. We need to get rid of career politicians like Pete Stark.
For a decade now we've seen this middle class job "wipe-out" going yet in US. Year after year more job's get off-shored, and Congress does nothing. It's just business-as-usual in DC, every two years Congressman - like Pete Stark - drop a bunch of mailers into our mail-boxes, all paid for by special interest groups, telling us what a great job they have been doing. Meanwhile this job drain in the US continues unabated.
I think it's time for a shake-up in Washington DC, which is why I won't be voting for Stark. Stark, to me, is a symbol of what's wrong with Washington. He's served for 40 years, when he began in Congress we had thriving middle class; now we have all these eight dollar an hour jobs and all these mega-wealthy plutocrats living high on the hog at the top. Enough is enough, Stark must go this time.
