Would love to. Is there a link you can provide for these maps? Besides the parcels marked LDS, are there others marked RC for Catholic land, J for Jewish or Jehovah Witness, M for Muslim? I didn’t realize the government did maps with plots of land marked according to religious connection. Good to know!

The reality is this is not part of a smear campaign. While I am not a Candice fan, I am not in the district so I don’t have a dog in the race.

But as far as the LDS and land, it is true.

You would be amazed-completely amazed, believe me. Take a look at any property map-NOT just Co. Co. County. You will see large parcels that are labeled LDS. I could not believe it the first time saw it but then it was explained to me, by the LDS land acquisiton team themselves! They buy property and have a entire land development division within the church-strictly for making more capital. They could care less about our ULL.

Don’t take my word for it. Check it out for yourself if you doubt me.

My analysis is reality based, unlike yours.

It will be a cold snowy day in hell when the ULL is moved to accommodate any major development.

What you should worry about is when Romney is elected President we will all have to become Mormons and move to their new East County developments.

The way this smear campaign is going, Sean White might get elected. I don’t much about him, except that he’s stayed out of the mud slinging. He’s been delegated to a meaningless line at the end of news stories, just like anti tax people, like me.
After witnessing the February 7th BOS meeting & receiving the results by snail mail that afternoon, exactly the opposite of what 29 out of 30 speakers wanted, I’m skeptical there will ever be a good BOs.

I admit that I don’t know the facts, one way or the other, on this. LDS does indeed own lots of property and does lots of commercial development in various locations. Latest example is a giant mall development project in Salt Lake City.

There is a strong LDS presence in the East Bay. There’s a church, temple or whatever they call it just a couple of blocks from where I live. So, I wouldn’t be at all surprised that they own land with development in mind. And they might, indeed, need county approvals.

What I was reacting to is the implication that there’s an agenda whereby Candace Anderson gets elected and then does the bidding for LDS. To me, that came across as a good old fashioned smear. Frankly, if that were the case, I’d expect that we would be hearing about it from the Van de Brooke side. They’ve dished out everything else they could think of. It would be an interesting angle for the CC Times to cover.

Actually post #5 is entirely correct. Just pick up a county map and you will see the LDS designation right outside of the county ULL in East County. Several years ago they made a run at it. Believe me, they don’t need hundreds of acres to build a Mormon church and will be happy to tell you they have no intention to putting one there. Like it or not, the “crap” you refer to is 100 percent true. They hold this land solely for development-and this is no allegation. Take off the blinders.
