That’s all very true. Unless, of course, the party spices up the platform with something that the other side can make some noise with to either fire up their own base or to gain support among swing voters. They can’t win votes with a platform, but they can lose votes.

What the hell is a platform anyway? The only time you ever hear anything about one is before the convention, and then as soon as the convention is over it disappears like a stone in the Marianas trench.

Certainly nothing so sensible as the abortion/”personhood” plank in the Republican platform, embracing the ever popular Todd Aikin “no exceptions” position. GOP platform chairman (emphasis on “man”), Governor “Ultrasound” McDonnell of Virginia defended it on the Sunday morning shows by noting that the same provision has been in the GOP platform for 30 years. Aren’t traditions wonderful?

Barbara Lee for President. She was anti war. Who else ever was? Will she be allowed to say anything anti war? Now the soldiers of the puppet government the U.S. installed, are killing our troops. Will Barbara Lee actually try to put anything sensible into the Dem’s platform?
