California politics and “lifestyles” are a laughingstock. What saves this state from complete collapse are its natural resources and agriculture, pockets of talent and brains and an attractive climate which continues to draw other Americans even in difficult times. Sacramento politics is as lovely as a permanent case of acne and as idealistic as your average tier at San Quentin.

With his youth and vigor, perhaps Christie would like to join 74-year-old Jerry in a combination 3k run and pushup competition, sponsored by Krispy Kreme.

Had to say that, but I agree Jerry has been a disappointment. I really thought he would shake things up in Sacramento. Not that Meg Whitman would have been able to get anything done with the legislature — although she would have killed HSR.

If the pension reform that Sacramento supposedly will pass this week is serious reform similar to Jerry’s proposal, that will be a real accomplishment. But I’m skeptical. Either way, Prop. 30 will have to pass without my vote.

Chris is right. Jerry’s senility shows a little more everyday with his doomed tax increase initiative, his high speed choo choo to nowhere and the delta-draining twin bores. He is desperately trying to emulate his father, the real Governor Brown.
