Better odds for Dems holding the White House. People have already factored in the economy. Still, I don’t trust the polls showing Obama building leads in the swing states. We haven’t even had the first debate. Watch for the “expectations” games to begin. The Romney campaign and GOP Super-Pacs have money to burn and will carpet bomb those states with TV ads. Plus, Repubs seem determined to pull any stunt they can to hold down the black vote in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Most of the swing states have GOP governors and election officials. If there are irregularities, it will be on the R side.

And I don’t mean this pathetic little pile of ‘window dressing’, I mean something MASSIVE, like removing the decimal point from the aforementioned program funding, and maybe doubling or tripling or quadding the resulting amount — and fund it with the fuel savings that the Pentagon alone will see from switching to “locally grown electricity” instead of having to schlep gasoline and diesel fuel tanks all around the battleground to run today’s army.

Envy and bitterness over the past is a bitch, I’ll agree — but they get empowered by the limitless petrodollars we send over there to weaponize their hateful rage (using RPGs at will against otherwise fortified structures, for example).

With solar now under 50 cents per Watt as a one-time capital expense, and wind power even less than that, it’s time to have a new federally funded “moon mission” aimed at perfecting affordable electric batteries that can hold a 500 mile charge, and electrify our national fleet so as to allow these poor, poor, pitiful camel jockeys to return to pounding sand for a living, literally.

Islam is stuck in the 7th century. They have never had a reformation. The imams in the madrasas teach them the blood and guts philosophy of good old Mo. Many of the masses are illiterate and being told by the imams what the Koran says is the only “education” they get. If Mo says it’s death, then death it is.

It wasn’t so long ago (try 1935 Florida) that if you did something that was offensive to Southern Baptist extremists (like have dark skin, and speak to a white woman) you deserved death, since free speech and diversity were concepts they also couldn’t grasp.

We’re not THAT special, or THAT advanced over other parts of the planet — if you disagree, you haven’t visited some choice parts of the US (or even California) lately…and remember that much of the “Arab Street” actually likes us, as long as our foreign aid flows their way, and their sweet crude flows our way.

I think Carney is right. The attack in Libya was obviously a pre-planned terrorist attack on the U.S. But Jay Carney was talking about the protests now going on in nearly every Muslim country. That includes Indonesia, hardly a hotbed of anti-Americanism or anti-Westism. Remember what happened in response to the Danish cartoons — worldwide protests, many violent. But I don’t think the the protests were motivated by anti-Denmarkism.

I don’t know what we can do about this ridiculous notion that, if you do something that the Islamic extremists regard as offensive to their religion or to Muhammad, you deserve death. Free speech and religious diversity and tolerance are concepts they can’t grasp.
