Watch Mary Hayashi make her case to local Dems

By Josh Richman
Monday, September 17th, 2012 at 5:27 pm in Alameda County, Alameda County Board of Supervisors, Assembly, Mary Hayashi.

Assemblywoman Mary Hayashi, D-Hayward, was at this past Saturday’s Alameda County Democratic Central Committee meeting, seeking the committee’s endorsement of her campaign for the District 2 seat on the Alameda County Board of Supervisors.

Hayashi was arrested last October for shoplifting $2,450 worth of clothes from San Francisco’s Neiman Marcus; she pleaded no contest in January to misdemeanor grand theft and was sentenced to three years of probation and a $180 fine. In an exclusive July interview, she insisted that her walking out of the store with black leather pants, a black leather skirt and a white blouse in a Nieman Marcus shopping bag that she had brought with her was entirely inadvertent; she said she believes voters would forgive her and vote for her on her legislative track record.

On Saturday, she was asked, “How do you exemplify the values of integrity and honesty we want for our elected officials?” Here’s her answer:

The committee announced its endorsements Sunday night: It picked Richard Valle – the incumbent appointed to fill the District 2 seat after former Supervisor Nadia Lockyer resigned – over Hayashi for November’s election. Union City Mayor Mark Green, a former longtime Democrat now registered without party affiliation, also is in the race.

The ACDCC did “the right thing” — sending this d-bag back to the back bench where she belongs!

Thanks for the video highlights — better than some segments of SNL last weekend!

    Also, a shout out:

NO ON 30! TIME TO DO REAL CUTS TO SEIU 1000 MEMBERSHIP IN SACRAMENTO, NOT JUST WINDOW DRESSING!

I thought ACDCC is a learning disorder.

Spunky response under the circumstances. Not convincing, but spunky. However, somebody should inform her that when your opponent tells the truth about your misdeeds, it’s not a “smear.”

If you follow Mary since she was convicted (took a plea deal) in the first week of January you will see the same thing over and over and over.

    #1 theme.. Taking Responsibility–sort of….

January 9th, “I take full responsibility” “I offer apologies, not excuses”

July 21st, “But I accept responsibility and offer apologies, not excuses”

    #2 theme.. (the excuses)
January 9th, “I unintentionally walked out of the store”
    January 9th, “I intended to purchase what I had, but I didn’t”
January 9th, “the situation where I made this absentminded error”

July 21st..Hayashi said she had been distracted by a phone call when she left with the unpaid items. “Of course, I intended to pay for them,”

September 17th. “whether you ‘meant’ to do it or not”
(tough crowd on Saturday, so she couldn’t make the excuse quite as direct)

September 17th.. “I believe that I made a ‘honest’ human mistake”

    Theme #3.. I’m nearly a victim..

January 9th “This has been a painful experience”

July 21, “The world doesn’t end when you make a personal mistake,”

September 17th “I paid a price for that”

September 17th “I paid the price for that”

    Theme #4 Brain tumor
NOTE, this theme was discarded on July 21st after 6 months of use… No longer operative according to Mary.

July 21st. She said it’s “too bad” her lawyer had mentioned the tumor to reporters because “my health was certainly not a factor in anything that happened”

Never mind she was by the side of her lawyer January 6th when he said about the brain tumor, “there is no other reason she would have taken the merchandise”

Mary then on January 9th in her own statment said “My medical condition may have complicated the situation”

    Finally Theme #5 The SMEAR

July 21st. “”My opponents may use the issue to try to smear me, but I trust the voters to be smarter than that,”

September 17th, “My opponents may try to use that to smear me”

Not to worry, on Saturday Mary made it clear,
“I’m gonna move forward with integrity”

Integrity…. I see Mary’s picture next to that definition in Websters (too bad its her mug shot)

I think Hayashi needs to give the “June Cleaver” pearls a rest, in every photo I’ve seen she has those pearls front and center.

  • JAFO

She must have actually paid for the pearls. Otherwise, she wouldn’t risk putting them on public display so often.
