I think Hayashi needs to give the “June Cleaver” pearls a rest, in every photo I’ve seen she has those pearls front and center.

If you follow Mary since she was convicted (took a plea deal) in the first week of January you will see the same thing over and over and over.

#1 theme.. Taking Responsibility–sort of….

January 9th, “I take full responsibility” “I offer apologies, not excuses”

July 21st, “But I accept responsibility and offer apologies, not excuses”

#2 theme.. (the excuses)
January 9th, “I unintentionally walked out of the store”
January 9th, “I intended to purchase what I had, but I didn’t”
January 9th, “the situation where I made this absentminded error”

July 21st..Hayashi said she had been distracted by a phone call when she left with the unpaid items. “Of course, I intended to pay for them,”

September 17th. “whether you ‘meant’ to do it or not”
(tough crowd on Saturday, so she couldn’t make the excuse quite as direct)

Finally Theme #5 The SMEAR

July 21st. “”My opponents may use the issue to try to smear me, but I trust the voters to be smarter than that,”

September 17th, “My opponents may try to use that to smear me”

Not to worry, on Saturday Mary made it clear,
“I’m gonna move forward with integrity”

Integrity…. I see Mary’s picture next to that definition in Websters (too bad its her mug shot)

Spunky response under the circumstances. Not convincing, but spunky. However, somebody should inform her that when your opponent tells the truth about your misdeeds, it’s not a “smear.”
