I’m never hesitant to say so when race is a factor, as it is more often than people care to admit. However, race is not a factor in this matter. It’s a combination of payback for her sassy remark about McCain during the 2008 campaign, payback for the Democrats fighting Bush’s nomination of John Bolton for UN Ambassador and scapegoating for Benghazi. She got shafted, in my opinion, but not because of race.

The Clintons aren’t shedding any tears over this, since Susan Rice was Obama’s foreign policy advisor during the 2008 nomination battle. John Kerry’s an excellent pick if Obama nominates him. Besides, Obama owes him big time. He would not be president if Kerry hadn’t picked him to give the keynote speech at the 2004 convention.

I believe Ms. Rice is well qualified for the position of Secretary of State. I also believe she was unfairly criticized by some conservatives for the common Washington, DC “sin” of parroting inaccurate talking points. She agreed, perhaps even volunteered, to serve as a PR flak for the Obama administration. For that, she has paid a high, yes unreasonable, price. That said, my throat has grown sore from gagging after reading the unending, rubber stamp claims that every person who has a difference of opinion with a person of color, no matter how slight, is a racist. Give me a frickin’ break, Ms. Lee. As I recall, the last Secretary of State, in the “hated” Bush Administration, was an equally well qualified woman of color. Must you so consistently fall back on such an intellectually dishonest and lazy argument?

That will teach her for making fun of John McCain in 2008 — after he informed the American people how safe the war had made it to walk through downtown Baghdad, as evidenced by his own documented stroll through town. Of course, like any typical tourist, he was wearing a Kevlar vest and was surrounded by 100 heavily armed soldiers on foot and in Humvees, with 5 Blackhawks and 2 gunships circling overhead. And let’s see, I believe McCain’s complaint about Rice is that she misled people about Benghazi!

Most people don’t know that Susan Rice’s father was a Tuskeegee Airman.
