Like her or not, Pelosi at least knows how to count votes and herd the cats in her caucus. More than you can say for Mr. Speaker.

When Bush and Paulson needed to get the bailout done to save us from economic Armageddon, it was Nancy, not their fellow Republicans who made it happen. Paulson literally got on his knees to beg her. As pitiful as the fiscal cliff “patch” is, the markets seem to think it was better than the alternative. But Pelosi had to be the one to round up the votes.

I’m a bit harsh on Mr. Speaker. Not sure anybody could herd that bunch of feral cats.

In the House, about the only member of the minority party that has any influence on a committee is the ranking member.

Can’t wait for disaffected Stark supporter East Bay Citizen to eat crow after poo-pooing Swalwell’s appointment to SciSpaceTech … after just about every other freshman nabbed a seat on that, too.

Also, Homeland Security can bring home some dollars back to the District … as more federal agencies fall under its ambit, more likely that regional offices for those federal agencies will need funds.

Also, is there now NO East Bay representation on the transportation committee? Pretty big loss given that Ellen Tauscher achieved such seniority on that.
