    Why not?

It’s not like he has anything else to do, besides shoot his mouth off on Fox…

Compare and contrast this to what Jared Huffman, former member of the Assembly and a fellow froshie in Congress is doing…like sitting on the Environment committee (his first request) and also sitting on the Budget committee (where grownups gather to get things done in Congress).

  • John W

I didn’t vote for the guy, but I’ve gotta give him credit. He’s managed to get himself on the TV circuit right out of the gate and handled himself pretty darned well with Hannity. Not too shabby for a guy fresh out the Dublin city council.

  • Elwood

Swalwell shows that he was mentored by the distinguished stateswoman Ellen Tauscher.

This will give him a great advantage in Congress.

    @2 —

    Really? Really?? Really????

You must be looking at a T-O-T-A-L-L-Y different tape than I am — Hannity T-O-T-A-L-L-Y smoked him with a question that his (Smellwell’s) “Ellenistas” had not prepped him for — at 5:37 into the videotape linked above — namely, whether Hannity’s own privacy rights were violated by having him (Hannity) outed as a legally registerd gun owner.

Somewhere, Ellen Corbett and Ro Khanna are ROTFLTFAO in anticipation of the 2014 primary, if this is what he (Smellwell) does a mere 5 days after getting sworn in.

@2 — I submit back to you just how accurate you were in regards to Obama’s chances of getting re-elected as close to the election as last October, as proof of your own political savvy vis-a-vis topics like this.

Ah yes, more comments from those using “Smellwell”.

10 months ago, this was the same crowd who told us that Stark was going to smoke the rookie “Smellwell”.
Now he says that in 18 months Corbett and Khanna are going to walk all over “Smellwell”…(just like Pete did)…
I see, the legions of “real Democrats” are going to arise and “Smellwell” won’t even finish in the top two?
Because IF he does, then Corbett is going to face the same problem Pete did in failing to get many votes from the large number of Decline-to-state and Republicans, and from the many lifelong Democrats, who like myself, don’t feel the slightest bit of loyalty to the likes of Corbett, and see Khanna has a guy who is moving around trying to find a opening for congress, while having little loyalty to the district.

No, Swalwell is going to make the final top-two in 2014 and its going to be very tough for either Corbett or Khanna to gather enough Decline-to-state and Republican and non-kneejerk Democrats, to put together with the traditional “solid-left” Democrats they have always counted on when we didn’t have a “top two” system.
Swalwell, if he plays it well, will have quite a number of Democrats more than willing to send him back rather than acting like they owe the Stark-Lockyer-Hayashi-Corbett crowd their vote.
That “no-choice but us” myth has been badly broken.

The insider Democrat’s system which has controlled the that half of Alameda County politics has been broken.
We aren’t loyal, even slightly, to Corbett and certainly not to Khanna.

Just keep up with the “Smellwell” and you brand yourself and your candidate as “Stark II” the sequel.

Ooooh, touched a nerve, did we? That’s telling, that I can get your knee to jerk THAT quickly, and THAT hard 😉

Welcome to being FAR younger (and FAR more naive) than the world around you.

I note for the record that during that “video adoration” the only one of the two “froshie congressmen’ wearing his “lookie me! I am a congresspeople!” pin was…wait for it…Eric the Smellwell.

Don’t believe it? Check out the tape…

  • Elwood

I predict that with the help of the great Ellen Tauscher, Swalwell will remain in the House for years.

Or perhaps the Senate after Feinstein dies of old age or Boxer dies of stupidity.

Sorry my seasoned pal, but you are talking to a Democrat who has been around long enough, such that walking precincts in Pete Stark’s first election wasn’t even my first work in a Alameda County campaign.
Some of us have changed, while too much of the local party leadership has calcified during their decades of cakewalk November campaigns.
