Hate to spoil this Tauscheristic party/lovefest but I can't wait to see either Ro Khanna or Ellen Corbett take this b***h and her cohorts/posse (including the entirely biased "political columnist" Lisa V, "campaign manager" Lisa T, and "political strategist" Mary H, not to mention the "Tauscherian Candidate/stand-in" himself, Eric S) down in 2014, and open up the the 580/680 corridor of Congressional politics to "a whole new day".

Re: #3 Elwood Says

As a fairly recent arrival to the state, I missed most of Tauscher's time in office and hold a positive view of her based mostly on reputation. I must say, however, that Elwood's affection for her is striking considering that her views on public policy issues, moderate as they may be, are not the ones that typically draw cheers from Elwood. Gun control being one example. Or her enthusiasm for Hillary. Go figure.

Then again, I'm sure I disagree with Bill Baker on just about everything. However, having had a chance to meet and chat with him a few times at taxpayer association meetings, I found him to be a very nice, easily approached gentleman and a strong supporter of Scouting.

Even though I didn't support his candidacy, I've been favorably impressed so far. However, somebody should remind the Congressman that his district isn't just Dublin and Pleasanton, or just Alameda County. Over it's strong objections, San Ramon (population 72,397) was cut off from the rest of Contra Costa County and used as "fill" for the newly drawn 15th district. San Ramon isn't just the town across the street from Dublin. It extends all the way North and East to the Danville/Blackhawk area.

No doubt some will laugh at this concept, but I think this event and others that aim to bring in a new segment of the voters will serve the best interests of finding out what that "other" broad spectrum of the citizens are thinking.

For decades our congressman and local legislators have become stuck in the town meeting format. A format which usually consists of the same 100 to 200 citizens, showing up each time. The age group skewing about two times that of the average voter.
So by all means, keep the "town hall" meetings, but open up the process to new ways of interacting.

Personally I got tired of the predictable Pete Stark town halls. Ninety percent of the crowd nodding their heads and telling Pete how much they loved him, and then about 5% of the extreme Tea Party types who were there to serve as Pete's foil.
Lather, rinse, repeat, 10 times a year for 40 years.
