With our starters back off the bench, we delve into another week of high school madness. This week, I implore people to send flowers to Brad Lidge, for he may never be the same. That said, to the mat we go.

(5) El Cerrito over Encinal
I give the Jets all the credit in the world for being a solid, solid team with not more than 25 players on the field. That said, I think the Gauchos have the firepower to win big this week. We're steamrolling toward a big Pinole Valley v. El Cerrito matchup.

(4) Las Lomas over Acalanes
I gotta say, LL has built a good, good program. This is going to be a game that is high in intensity but I just don't see it being close in score. LL wins.

(3)Pittsburg over Liberty
It's tough to say Pitt is back because they never really went anywhere. Not much analysis from me here, just a winner and a loser.

(2) San Leandro over San Ramon Valley
This game boils down to home field advantage and if it were in Danville, I'd pick SRV. But, it's not, and the Pirates are a scoring machine this year.

(1) Monte Vista over Foothill
I hear all the arguments about Foothill being the ones who could get it done against MV. They're all legit. But, in the words of Lee Corso, not so fast my friend! I went with the pool and picked California to beat Monte Vista and I learned my lesson. Until they get knocked off, I'm staying on the bandwagon.

(Swing) Piedmont over St. Patrick/St. Vincent
On paper there aren't a lot of compelling matchups in west county this week, but I'm absolutely taken by the new offense being born in the Oakland hills. QB Will Conn accounted for 6 touchdowns last week for the Highlanders and he was only 12-27 in the air. The only reason I can justify this as a close one is because the Bruins are trying to defend their BSAL crown.

We'll see you Friday night!
