Throwing with a big lead

It puzzles me when a prep team with a 20-plus point lead late in the fourth quarter will throw the ball with their starting quarterback still playing. I haven’t seen this happen recently, but earlier in the season I saw it occur. I somewhat understand the reasoning if there are offensive backup players in the game, but there is definitely a sportsmanship angle to be considered. What do you think? Is it ever valid to throw the ball late in the fourth quarter with a 20-plus point lead and the starting quarterback still in the game

Throwing with your first team when you are up by 20 is classless. College teams only do it because of BCS ratings.
