I was thrown off by the holiday last weekend, and completely forgot to pick some games. I was out of it anyway, but I'll press on to finish the season strong. It's been a great season, and this weekend ought to be solid. I personally won't be at the Coliseum on Saturday, but I'll be taking in some action nonetheless.

(12) De La Salle over San Leandro
I can't pick against the Spartans in a game that means something. Last time I saw them play was two years ago against Pittsburg in the Coliseum and that day I watched Cameron Colvin and Jackie Bates put on a show. The Coliseum might as well be renamed Owen Owens Field. DLS by a final of 42-24.

(9)Ygnacio Valley over Miramonte
Things have certainly come full circle for the Dizzy, haven't they. Not that long ago, YV's boys were knocking him around on the field and here they are looking to capture a title. Miramonte has certainly done their usual thing this year, but I just can't pick against the Warriors, for fear that those boys will hunt me down and use me for a blocking sled. YV 28-14

(6) Las Lomas over Irvington
This is really a pick em game for me because I haven't seen either this year. What I did see was a heroic Cory Paclebar pulling a Willis Reed last week. Can he do it again? Who knows, but all I know is that while we touted the strength of the EBAL all year long, we're looking at two DFAL teams trying to win titles this year. LL 45-38

(3) Salesian over Ferndale
I was at Miramonte last weekend to see the Chieftains have their way with Clear Lake and I've covered them numerous times all year. Here's what I know: Andre Wells needs 3 touchdowns to tie the all time record for receiving touchdowns in a season for the entire state. I bet he gets there Saturday. And what I know for a fact is that this team has been doing it with a half healthy Jahvid Best all year. Salesian wins this one, etching their names in the history books in more ways than one. Salesian 42-21

While I haven't had as much success as my colleagues this year in this forecast, I have certainly enjoyed trying to figure out a very diverse football landscape here in the East Bay. Here's one last prediction: In a shocker, the Dizzy will not be crowned champion in our maiden voyage, as he will be defeated by his compadre Chace and he will be forced to hear about it all year as we enter the hoop season, which Chace actually knows the most about. Au revoir!
