Well, Nicole Hood and Carondelet didn’t take very long to show that they will be a power to contend with this season on the North Coast Section cross country scene. Hood, a freshman, won the Ed Sias girls individual title and Carondelet posted a dual meet-like score of 31 to easily win the team title. De La Salle looks like it will continue to be a power after a strong showing in the boys large school race. St. Mary’s Matt Duffy won the boys small school race by nearly 17 seconds.

The real story is that the team placed 3 runners ahead of their own last year’s league champion freshman, Sara Aliotti. And there are no juniors or seniors in the first 5! #2 Cougar in this race, Heather Cerney is a freshman too. And #3 Kellie Houser is a soph who hasn’t run for 2 years. With #5 Nicole Rumore only 11 second back of #3, this team is super solid. These girls ran hard all summer and now they are reaping the rewards. The rest of the season should be great.
