Lets get it started

Today is the first day of the high school football season. Excited? I know you are. You better believe we’re excited and tonight’s game between Clayton Valley and Luther Burbank-Sacramento is actually an intriguing matchup.

Why is it intriguing? Because there are nothing but questions surrounding the Eagles. Will Joey Levine be the quarterback that CV supporters are hoping he is? How will the entirely new offensive line come together? How will the CV defense perform against the Titans’ option attack?

Lucky for you, I’m not here to give questions. I’m here to give answers. Levine should be improved from last season and the CV coaching staff speaks highly of his leadership capabilities. That’s going to go a long way in calming down the five new starters crouched in front of him. As for the defense, all I can say is that the Eagles better come ready to tackle because if Burbank runners get to the second level consistently, it’s going to be a long night for the home team.

Calpreps.com has Burbank winning by a narrow margin. I’m not so sure about that. I think the home atmosphere will help Clayton Valley and the Eagles will pull out a squeaker. See you tonight.

It’s Time for Football

So, I sat down Sunday night and watched about a quarter of the Hall of Fame game in Canton, OH between the Steelers and Saints. Why is that significant? One reason and one reason only (Cue the Monday Night Football theme).
It’s football season.
Practice is ongoing for local high school teams and some have even sent in their schedules to our office like the good people they are (those who haven’t, get on the ball!). We’ve been following the message boards and it’s clear that there are many, many opinions on who will be good and who will not.
Rest assured, we have our own opinions and in the coming weeks we’ll share them with you in a variety of ways. One thing you can be certain of is that this blog will be the only place you need to go to get your East Bay prep football news.

Question to start you all off with: Who’s the best football team in the land this year?
