10:40 p.m.: We’re lacking on girls scores tonight it appears. Where all the ladies at? Alright, I’m packin it in for the night. Ya’ll take care now.
10:10 p.m.: Upset city! California knocks off Monte Vista 55-54 and throws the EBAL into upheaval. You wanna talk about upheaval? Us taking calls right now. Things are CRAZY around here.
9:35 p.m.: Not a ranked team but a score of note just came in. Hercules beat Pinole Valley 60-47 in boys hoops. The Titans are ROLLING right now. It’s again a three-way race for the ACCAL title. Berkeley, El Cerrito and Hercules are all still in the mix and things are going to get interesting coming down the stretch.
9:20 p.m.: The calls came crashing down on us there for a minute. Anyway, scores are continuing to trickle in. More to follow.
8:45 p.m.: Chace tells me that Antioch scored a 60-55 win over Pittsburg when it was all said and done. In perhaps the most impressive twist of irony yet tonight, that score is exactly the same as the first time the two teams played this year. Go figure.
8:10 p.m.: Chace “Unnecessary Force” Bryson checks in to tell you people that Pittsburg has stormed back and leads 44-43 with six minutes left in the game. Tension… it is building in Pittsburg.
7:45 p.m.: C Bry with an update from Pittsburg. Antioch leads 27-21 at halftime. Calvin Douglas has 11 points, Tim Williams has five points and six rebounds. Pittsburg’s Joe Simpson leads all scorers with 13 points. Antioch out-rebound Pitt 20-12 in the first half. Gotta crash those boards! In the interest of full disclosure, Chace has a big picture of Michael Jordan next to his computer. I myself try to pattern my game after guys like Todd Fuller and Will Perdue. Now if only I was seven feet tall (cue the Skee Lo song “I Wish I Was A Little Bit Taller”).
7:40 p.m.: J Roll Jimmy Durkin checks in with the McClymonds score. He said Mack was only up one after a quarter and five at halftime but got into its game and took over in the second half. Oakland’s boys won as did Castlemont’s girls.
7:35 p.m.: Miramonte’s girls picked up another good DFAL win tonight, beating Alhambra. The Matadors appear to be rolling towards another league crown.
7:30 p.m.: Our most consistent contributor on Friday nights, Chace Bryson, checks in from Pittsburg where Antioch leads the host Pirates 12-8 after one quarter. I’d imagine that will be a close one down to the wire.
7:15 p.m.: Dublin gets the award for being the first hoop box of the night. The Gaels beat Mt. Diablo 90-40.
6:30 p.m.: All is quiet on the CCT front. On a more positive note, I polished off a hot pastrami sandwich from A Sweet Affair in Walnut Creek and I’m now ready to tackle a night full of calls. For those in the Walnut Creek area, Sweet Affair gets two thumbs up.
3:55 p.m.: Before we get started with the basketball fun, a little football business to attend to. Kennedy has hired Delo Hilton as it’s new football coach. Hilton succeeds George Pye, who stepped down after his one season at the helm. Hilton was a standout player himself at Antioch and might be that young voice that Kennedy needs to stabilize the program.
The fun of the Friday night live scoreboard will start later this afternoon. I’ve been granted a two-hour extension (If you’re the Twins, aren’t you using the two-hour extension to get out of the Santana deal right now?) and there will be no performance-enhancers used. It’s all scores, all the time here on the East Bay Prep Sports Blog. Check back soon.

Cal outlasted Monte Vista tonight at Cal, 55-54. The Grizzlies led 46-34 at the start of the fourth quarter, but the Mustangs’ pressure defense helped them get within four points very quickly. Monte Vista got to within two points with two minutes to go, but never tied or led in the fourth. The key for Cal was center Sean Downes, who made several consecutive baskets down the stretch to clinch the win. This is MV’s first loss in EBAL, and makes their game at Foothill a critical contst
