DLS vs. Don Bosco Prep (N.J.) revisited

A little over a month ago we reported that the De La Salle football team was very close to finalizing an agreement to play a Week 3 game against two-time defending New Jersey state champions Don Bosco Prep. In the report, a source close to the negotiation said that an announcement from the school would occur within 24 to 48 hours. However, finalizing of the details is clearly taking longer than expected.

We have no “official” update here, although DLS and prep football fans alike can rest assured that the game is going to happen.

When asked about the game at Tuesday’s CIF regional basketball playoff game between DLS and Oak Grove-San Jose, Spartans defensive coordinator Terry Eidson was emphatic in saying that the game is “definitely happening.”

De La Salle athletic director Leo Lopoz has said on more than one occasion that the school would officially announce the game when I contract was finalized and signed. The date of the game will be Saturday, Sept. 27, but the local site was among the details still trying to be determined. As soon as we get official word on all the details, we’ll bring it to you.

It appears that Don Bosco Prep has a football team. Saw them play and they are for real, hit hard and play on all motors for four quarters. Their defense, when i saw them play, was one oh the best i have ever seen.
