NorCal Basketball Semifinals Updates

By Michael Bower
Wednesday, March 5th, 2008 at 9:23 pm in General.

We will once again try to get as many updated scores as quickly as possible from the NorCal semifinal games Thursday night. I will be out at Mitty in San Jose to watch Hayward take on the newly revived Drew Gordon. So check back here for scores and updates. If I can get a wireless signal in the gym, then I will post some live stuff from the Hayward-Mitty game right here.

The hardest working sports writers in the world. Good stuff.

By the way, my (absentee) vote for coach of the year goes to Orlando Watkins at Oakland High. De La Salle should get all it can handle from the Wildcats in the semifinals of the East Bay Final Four (please don’t sue me NCAA/CBS).

  2. Jimmy Durkin Says:

Yeah, I’d say right now the Coach of the year finalists (in my opinion) are Orlando and Mack’s Dwight Nathaniel. I’ve said to several people and stand by it that I think Oakland will win that game tomorrow. How sweet would that be for the OAL to have Mack and Oakland meet in the NorCal finals up at Arco? Goes to show, when we’re talking East Bay hoops, it’s the OAL, then everybody else.

  3. David Schoen Says:

Yeah, can CIF switch that game to the Arena with the Warriors on the road, or is there a Journey reunion concert at R-Oracle on Saturday?
It’d be the biggest prep event at the arena since Tracy Murray went for like 68 in a losing effort.

  4. Jimmy Durkin Says:

Seriously, a backyard brawl and we’ll have to make the long haul up to Arco. Can’t get too ahead of ourselves, but it’s fun to think about it.

What time is the Hayward/Mitty game? 7 or 7:30?

  6. Michael Bower Says:

7:30, but a girls game is before the Hayward game. That means it probably really won’t start until 8 p.m.
