No. 1 vs No. 2

Well I guess it’s about time to get back into the blogging frame of mind ….

Was out at Monte Vista today to see the No. 2 team in the East Bay take on the No. 1 ranked Livermore Cowboys. I still have trouble typing those words because when I was playing in the EBAL, Livermore was the lone gimme. It couldn’t be any further from that now.

This team can flat out hit. 1-9 I haven’t seen a team hit like that since maybe the 2002 SRV team, with Nate Shierholtz, Preston Young, Keith Garratt etc …

The Cowboys beat Monte Vista for the second time this year, this time 6-2, and it was a day where the bats were a little off, facing MV lefty Christian Jones. Only six hits, but something like 6 walks and some good base running got the job done.

David Singleton, the ace of the Livermore staff, has now gone 13 inning in the two EBAL wins, so it will be interesting to see how David Hart does on Friday against a reeling Cal team.

Our correspondent, Jeff Bennett, was out at Foothill/Granada and he saw quite the ending. It was tied at 5 going into the bottom of the seventh. The Falcons got a lead off double, then it got weird. The Granada pitcher tried to pick him off second, but the throw went to center field. The throw from Helenihi in center to third base had the runner beat, but it skipped off the glove of the third baseman and out of play. Game over, Foothill wins.
