ESPN.com released its newest version of the ESPN Rise Fab 50 national rankings this past Sunday.
De La Salle (1-0), which had been No. 3 since the first release of the poll back in August, dropped to No. 5 after it’s narrow 29-28 victory over Serra on Saturday. Don Bosco Prep-Ramsey (N.J.) dropped from its perch at No. 6 all the way down to No. 23 after losing its season-opener 17-10 to St. Xavier-Cincinnati. St. Xavier (3-1) used the upset to climb nine spots to No. 18.
Other California teams in the Fab 50: No. 7 Long Beach Poly (1-0), No. 25 Mater Dei-Santa Ana (2-0), No. 30 Bellarmine-San Jose (1-0), No. 33 Centennial-Corona (1-0), No. 44 Crespi-Encina (2-0).
As for the CalHiSports.com state rankings released on Tuesday, De La Salle retains the No. 1 spot and Long Beach Poly sits at No. 2. Mater Dei has the No. 3 spot and Centennial sits at No. 4. Bellarmine rounds out the top 5. This top five will get a bit of a shakeup this week since Centennial will play at Mater Dei this Friday.
No. 21 San Ramon Valley is the only other East Bay team in the state’s top 25.
