I just got a quick phone call from Oakland Athletic League/Section commissioner Michael Moore Sr. to inform me that all recommendations passed unanimously at today’s Oakland Board of Education meeting, meaning that the OAL will continue as its own section of the CIF and do a number of other things to improve itself.

Those who don’t get ESPNU at home, fear not. You can sit in the comfort of your own home and follow the action live here on the East Bay Prep Sports Blog. I’ll be crammed in the De La Salle press box alongside my colleagues Mike Bouve and Kevin Shallat from De La Salle radio and I’ll be bringing you the sights and sounds from the corner of Winton Drive and Treat Blvd.
Also, keep in mind, you can do what I did last week and follow the blog while listening to the game. You can tune in to 1550-AM on the radio or KBCSports.com and listen to Mike and Kevin call the action. Be sure to tune in to the pre-game show to hear everyone’s favorite Geek, Chace Bryson, give his take on Don Bosco and De La Salle.
And in print, we’ll have a feature on Don Bosco Prep on Friday and a comprehensive game preview on Saturday. Also on Saturday, Chace and I will post a matchup breakdown here on the blog. So be sure to get here early to check that out.

I’m sure many of you will be looking to watch Saturday night’s game between No. 1 De La Salle and New Jersey powerhouse Don Bosco. Game time is 7:30 p.m. However, with information straight from DLS beat writer Chace Bryson, the game will be televised on ESPN U — a channel not offered by Comcast although it is available on Astound, a smaller cable company in the Concord area.

Here’s another week of OAL stats, this time a bit more expanded version which also includes scoring and we’ve gone up to top-10 on each category except passing. (Scoring is top-12 because of a 4-way tie). For those looking for stats for other leagues, my guess is Kyle Bonagura will soon post EBAL stats and Michael Bower will soon post HAAL stats. For the other leagues, including out in Contra Costa County, your stats will be coming, likely next week. We’ll also be compiling East Bay leaders that will run both in the paper and on the blog but not until next week. Hope you like it.

Well, the wild road show that is Stallworth Academy, formerly Hancock Christian, is on hold this week. Carmel has decided to cancel its game with the first-year program. In a way I don’t blame them because, based on what the coach said, there was some deception going around about what kind of a team it is.
