Brett Nottingham (Monte Vista) and Jenn Docto (Amador) have been named Tri-Valley Athletes of the Week …..

Brett Nottingham, Monte Vista, Football — Nottingham went 25-for-38 for 392 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Mustangs to a 41-31 win against Foothill. The junior leads the the Easy Bay, averaging 296.8 yards passing a game and leads an offense that is also tops in the area, averaging 470.8 yards per game.

From the research lab: In 2002, Monte Vista QB Kyle Wright won the Gatorade National Player of the Year award, the ANG Offensive Player of the Year award, the EBAL MVP and was named the No. 1 recruit in the nation.

Here is a side-by-side comparison of his stats that year through four weeks and Nottingham’s this year. Pretty impressive - even more so when you factor in those are Nottingham’s first four starts and Wright was starting as a sophomore.
