Crazy Saturday wrap-up

Alright everyone. Thanks for coming on the live blog tonight. It was intense, no doubt. Read below for my summary of the Ygnacio Valley game.

Ygnacio Valley 34, Ukiah 33: With the host Wildcats driving to try and win the game, Ygnacio Valley defensive back Steven Porschet intercepted a pass with less than a minute remaining to give the No. 12 Warriors a dramatic NCS Division II win over No. 5 Ukiah.

With the win, Ygnacio Valley (8-3) advances to play No. 4 Campolindo on Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. in Moraga.

Things looked bleak for the Warriors when, with just under two minutes remaining, Ukiah (8-3) scored a touchdown to make the score 34-33. Ygnacio Valley defensive tackle Siua Taufa came up big though, blocking the point-after attempt.

Even after Taufa’s heroics, the fun wasn’t quite over for Ygnacio Valley. A Patrone Wood II fumble gave the Wildcats the ball back with about a minute remaining before Porschet’s interception.

    holy shinto!

  • This was one of the most interesting nights for your blogs. With a little help from your friends, you guys managed to cover it all. I really enjoyed the updates from up North too. One point spread high school football games are easily the most entertaining reads in the whole year. Your sports coverage team should be really proud, Ben, from video’s supplied by parents, like Mr. Woods, and your Geek’s specials, to the live blogs, it all makes the HS football junkie litteraly addicted to this site. Since it is impossible to go to all the games, this is the best yet. What do you think about the Grant/Granite Bay game last night? I heard the end of the radio show covering it and the sports announcers thought it was a bad call by the refs that squelched the GB final drive and won the game for Grant.

I hear Castlemont is the D3 site if Encinal is in. That has to favor Encinal,

Porque, yeah I saw the result in that Grant game. All the projections I’ve seen point to the Pacers getting shut out again this year. If De La Salle and Oak Grove-San Jose win out, I think those will be the Open and Division I representatives from Northern California. That said, a win over Granite Bay, no matter how controversial, is a huge win.

  • IS Castlemonts Field grass or turf? If it grass yes it would be an advantage to Encinal.

  • Coach63a

Castlemont is turf, but Castlemont is not an NCS school. The higher seeded team will get the championship game within their sectional area. For East Bay schools the site would be Dublin HS. For Redwood Empire Santa Rosa JC is the most likely site.
