I will be doing a weekly breakdown of the Hayward Area Athletic League. We had a few games start before the Christmas break so this will be my currently ranked order of the league along with a couple sentences or so about the squads. I am on vacation until Jan. 5, but thought I would start anyway. Here we go…. (Records are through Dec.19) Read the rest of this entry »

I know football is the talk of the night with De La Salle falling in the CIF Division I State Champioinship Bowl Game, but I wanted to throw out a little hoops talk.

Hello to everyone from Southern California. After about an 8-hour trip yesterday that included more snow on the grapevine than we’ve ever seen and a nice, long stay in rush hour traffic on the 405, we made it to our hotel about 10 minutes from the Home Depot Center and we’re ready for tonight’s game.
Here’s what we’ve got planned. I’ll be on the blog around 7 p.m. to give you some insight from the Small School game between Hamilton Union and St. Margaret’s. We’ll have a live photo slideshow updating throughout the game and Chace and I will have the play by play from press row. Tonight’s game is being shown in the Bay Area on Comcast Sports Net Bay Area, so most of you will be able to see it but hey, don’t ditch us now!
For now, check out the photos from all three of last week’s NCS games. And, check back throughout the day for updates.

Unfortunately, that matchup won’t happen as Mack is stuck in Oakland.

This is my solution to get playoffs in California.
Get rid of the section playoffs for football. Less teams will make the post season, but it also makes getting to the postseason an honor rather than the way it is no where a 2-8 Alhambra team would have made it if their coach just showed up to the meeting. I went to quite a few playoff games this year where there was little fan turnout anyways.
The plan is to create SIX divisions:
