As they did last weekend at the Doc Buchanan, Liberty’s David Klingsheim and De La Salle’s Tyler Sheridan are again thriving against Southern California competition. They’ve both advanced to tonight’s finals at the Five Counties Invitational, billed as one of the toughest tournaments in the country.
At 125 pounds, Klingsheim beat Northview-Covina’s Anthony Jaramillo 7-5 in his semi. In the finals, Klingsheim (who is seeded No. 1) will face Gilroy’s Martin Gonzalez in a rematch of last week’s Doc B title match. Gonzalez is ranked No. 1 at 125 pounds by thecaliforniawrestler.com and Klingsheim is No. 1 at 119.
At 152 pounds, Sheridan (seeded No. 2 this weekend) beat Calvary Chapel-Santa Ana’s Tigran Adzhemyan 4-2 in the semis. In the finals he’ll face No. 1 seed T.J. Belton of Central Catholic-Modesto. Belton is ranked No. 2 at 160 pounds, Sheridan is ranked No. 1 at 152.
