MLK Hoops Classic: Live

By Chace Bryson

Hey Hoops fans, I have successfully set up shop here on press row at Cal-Berkeley’s Haas Pavilion. It should certainly come as no surprise to anybody that the games are already running behind. Currently, Sacred Heart Cathedral-SF is clinging to a 73-67 lead over Skyline with 30 seconds to play. Salesian (13-3) and Newark Memorial (15-3) wait in the wings.

Here’s the game plan for us tonight:
I’ll pick up live play-by-play action at halftime of the Salesian-Newark game. Jimmy Durkin, who will be covering that game for the paper, will then jump on to the blog to bring play-by-play coverage of the last two games, St. Mary’s (15-2) vs. Monte Vista (15-0), and De La Salle (13-1) vs. McClymonds (17-0).

Salesian and Newark will likely get underway around 4:50, and I’ll drop in periodic updates until picking up full-time at the start of the second half between the Cougars and Pride.

Final score of first boys game: SHC 77, Skyline 72. Be back shortly.

Did Carondelet get passed Berkeley this afternoon?

Yeah, Carondelet won 63-54. They were up big most of the way before Berkeley closed the gap late.

Thanks for the update Jimmy. I’ll be looking forward to your Spartan updates. It’s killing me to not be there. Are they still running about an hour late?

wow. thats three huge upsets tonight. good luck ranking these teams there are going to be huge shakeups all over the bay because of this.

de la salle ends Mackhouse’s streak… from jimmy’s live blog (thanks for that btw) it looked like a surprisingly sloppy game out of Mack and a nice game from DLS. I guess DLS has to be on top of the East Bay now. Polls wont solve this though, were gonna wait for NCS and beyond for that.

    suprising results tonight fosho

wow i am surprised that DLS pulled it off…but stoked at the same. hopefully no let downs on Wed. when MV travels to play them. MV will be looking to make a statement after the drubbing they just took.
