Mack boys win OAL title, Castlemont girls force another game

I can’t post much here since I have to write my story, but the McClymonds boys beat Skyline 73-56 to win the OAL title. The Castlemont girls beat Mack 44-34 in the earlier game to force a second championship game today at 4:30 p.m. at Laney.

wHEN DOES NORCAL SCHEDULE COMEOUT AND WILL ANY OF THE OAL SCHOOLS BE USING CSUEB AGAIN

  • Prep Fan

She was not determined to get to NCS. Very lackluster performance tonight. Slow getting up and down the court. Not going hard after rebounds, and not demanding the ball inside. She hid outside and shot some 3s, with no one in the midle for rebounds. I had seen her play much better earlier this year, but as soon as NG got up by 10 out of the gate, she seemed to lose interest. Best of luck to her at Cal next year, but tonight was not one to remember.

  • BigGreen

Was any one at the game except me, why are ya’ll talking about that other stuff.

  • BigGreen

I guess it was not important!LOL!MAck looked very good. D.Powell was knocking down alot of 15-20ft jumpers tonight. he looked to be very assertive tonight and attack.

  • dez

D.Powell is a tru warrior. The Man has the most springs I’ve ever seen. He shot the jumpers very well. After he caught tht ally-oop from #20 OMG!!!! I had to leave there was nothin else to see!!!

  • BigGreen

I agree with ya Dez but tell the truth Will Cherry’s tip Dunk was much better, the best I’ve seen this year!! Powell surprised me with how much his jumper was falling, but he looked pretty hot in warm-ups, he was hiting 3′s the whole time, he hit about 6 in as rwo during warm-ups.

  • dez

Yea I agree the Will Cherry tip dunk was the best dunk this year or last year and If Cherry wouldve caught tht oop on the first possesion tht wouldve been nice too..

  • BigGreen

    Yeah it would have!
They were all about business last night

Mack came out and took Skyline heart from the jump, with those 3 early dunks. Powell has some potential but honestly I think he is Mack 3rd best player right now. Also Brown from Skyline played some good ball, hopefully the local JUCOs are recruiting him!!!!

  • dez

Hahaha shoulda been 4 dunks but Mack is the best team in the bay by far. Only way to beat Mack is hold the ball,Make them walk up court or get Powell or Cherry in foul trouble. Skyline had no chance since the tip

  • BeCoolPicou

Yeah…I like how they started the game with a ally oop play, even though it wasnt sucessful it sent a messege. With DLS losing in the NCS semis does that mean they wont make it to NORCAL?

  • dez

yes DLS is done the two bid for NCS div 1 go to the Finalist Newark and Monte Vista

  • dez

the two bids for NORcals I ment go to the NCS Finalists MV and Newark

  • BeCoolPicou

ok…cool. Thats what I thought. Great news for Mack, in there quest for a repeat.

  • EBAL FAN

Yep, I am thinking Mack rolls along now as well.

One thing about that though is that everyone on that Mack team was honestly disappointed that De La Salle lost because they wanted to get redemption for their loss and be the team to beat them. I’m not going to divulge too much right now because I’m writing my column for next Tuesday about this, but I can tell you the disappointment was legit. I chatted with Dwight Nathaniel a bit yesterday and he made a good point in that now Mack could go all the way and get back to the state finals, and people might say they only did so because they didn’t have to face DLS again. So while the DLS loss clears a hurdle for Mack, the team doesn’t necessarily see it as good news. I think better news would be Mater Dei getting knocked off down south.

Now do you guys remember that move that coach Brooks (Boozie) made early in the year when he took out all of the starting Line up out of the game for the whole 4Th Quarter – I knew that he knew what he was doing.
I can’t wait for the NorCal Playoffs.

    Oh Yea “Who’s House”? — “Mack’s House”!
    (lol)

  • BigGreen

yeah man Mack did their thing, you know what I think I was sitting next to you last night Becoolpicou, cuz we were talking about the year you guys lost to Tech in the second game after you guys beat them the first game. Am I right. We talked about how the rule should change with that right? Any way It was a game of excitment if you ask me. And I was trying to remember ur name and when I saw picou it clicked!
