East Bay boys lacrosse notebook

The rankings were shook up this week with Las Lomas knocking off top-rated California 8-5. This win moves Monte Vista up from No. 2 to No. 1, despite not playing a game. The Mustangs will have a chance to back up the top rank when they face No. 5 Foothill tomorrow in one of the biggest games of the week.

Livermore keeps on winning, while De La Salle suffered a close loss to Coronado of the San Diego Section. Clayton Valley proved it was a legitimate team with a 19-6 pounding of Campolindo and also had a very close 10-9 loss to Cal.
San Ramon Valley was the second North Coast Section team to find out just how good St. Ignatius is, falling 13-9. Still, the defending champion Wolves find themselves in the top ten. Take a look at this week’s rankings.

Ah Matt, told you Cal was not the No. 1 team… Foothill will take down Monte Vista tomorrow night as well — EBAL once again, even more so now with DLS is going to be great to watch every week.

  • Matt Smith

You were right about Cal…for now! Lol.
The EBAL will be a battle each night and will make the rankings hard for me to do.

The key to the high schools are the youth programs in the ever growing sport.

Pleasanton is right there with Danville, if not passed them, as the top youth program in Northern California and that’s why Amador and Foothill will continue to be better and better. SRV and MV split the Danville youth players with De La Salle, which makes it tough. All three will always been good, but if they were going to just the Danville schools, they would be that much better. Cal’s in a bit of a no-man’s land, as they don’t get too many of the real good youth players. Dublin and the Livermore schools will continue to improve as a lot of Dublin kids are now playing in Pleasanton. St. Ignatius is always so strong because they draw from Marin Country as well as the private schools in SF.

Alhambra beat Dougherty Valley for it’s first DFAL league win of the season and of for it’s program. AHS is in only it’s first year of offical lacrosse after starting the team as a independent last season.
The score was AHS 8- DV7. This makes the DOGS 3-3 overall and 1-0 DFAL.

    Thanks,

    Al
