East Bay boys volleyball notebook

The Deer Valley Tournament is always a good way to get an idea of the top teams in the North Coast Section and this year was no different.
Northgate and Amador Valley faced off in the finals with the Broncos winning the championship. This led to Northgate being voted as the top team in the first week of the Bay Area News Group’s coaches poll. The Dons come in at No. 2.

East Bay boys lacrosse notebook

The rankings were shook up this week with Las Lomas knocking off top-rated California 8-5. This win moves Monte Vista up from No. 2 to No. 1, despite not playing a game. The Mustangs will have a chance to back up the top rank when they face No. 5 Foothill tomorrow in one of the biggest games of the week.

NorCal finals recap

I’ve arrived home from Sacramento and what a fun, but exhausting day. I started blogging around 9:30 a.m. and kept going until I turned it over to Michael Bower for the 8 p.m. game. During that game I was vigorously taking notes so I could have a story done to meet our first deadline of 9:45 p.m. Guess what time that game ended? Yep, 9:45! Don’t worry Daily Review readers, I got it sent up in time.

Live blog from NorCal championship games

We’ll have you covered tomorrow with action from the NorCal championship games at Arco Arena and Folsom High. If we’re convinced (and convincing can be done in the way of commenting here tonight), you might get one of us up at Arco by 10 a.m. to provide a live account of Monte Vista vs. Kennedy-Sacramento. At the least, the blogging will be underway by the 2 p.m. game between Carondelet and Oak Ridge. So if you can make the trip to the Sacramento area, be sure to spend your day here at Prep Corner.

I’ll be posted up at Saint Mary’s College tonight for the Monte Vista double-header, taking updates from other games. It’s going to be the same drill as Tuesday: no play-by-play but frequent updates and general hoops chatter.
