Purvis third in World Youth 100 meters

St. Elizabeth High’s Ashton Purvis finished third in the women’s 100 meter final at the IAAF World Youth Championships in Sudtirol, Italy today.
Purvis produced a wind-legal time of 11.48, only .01 behind second-place finisher Allison Peter of the Virgin Islands. Jodie Williams of Great Britain won the event in 11.39.
Less than 2 1/2 hours earlier, Purvis won a 100-meter semifinal heat with a wind-legal time of 11.53. Purvis ran four 100-meter races in two days, and finished first in her heat in the first three races.
