August 22nd, 2009 at 10:52 pm
my question for Kyle and Mike is regarding Fresno State. Does it look like the San Leandro guys are going to be starting/playing more? There’s a lot of Pirate alumni well represented in D-1 but specifically remembering Jamel Hamler and Scottie Cordier back in 05 lighting it up in NCS. Scottie went to cal poly, yes, but Jamel’s got to have one/two years left now no?

this is great. thanks Kyle

Jolly,
Nico Herron and Damion Owens are going to get a lot of playing time. I know both had solid seasons last year. I am not sure about Hamler, but I don’t think he sees much action.
August 25th, 2009 at 10:28 am
Hamler Is Starting this season in the slot…New rec’s coach up there seems to think he”s a mid level Draft pick in the nex 2 yrs…look out for him this season…
August 25th, 2009 at 10:31 am
Hamler is only goin into his sophmore season.. he was eneligable last season cause of grades…
August 25th, 2009 at 3:52 pm
Thanks for the response everyone. I’ve been looking forward to seeing all three of them play, because Fresno is loaded with local guys. Herron and Owens are ballers, and Hamler is right up there too. I agree they could be drafted. I’m excited to see Rashad Evans play too. That school is stacked! I know this isn’t a college blog but Fresno looks good against the rest of the WAC. Boise got a lot of local talent too, Jonathan Brown from Encinal, Charles Leno from SL, and Joe Southwick from SRV. can’t wait for that game.
August 25th, 2009 at 3:56 pm
also I think Stanford’s Osaisai got sign as undrafted free agent? let’s see the class of 2007 is going to be true sophomores this year, so 2006 true juniors. not counting redshirts because those are individual and can be used anytime? but good news to hear about hamler getting back on the field..
August 25th, 2009 at 5:08 pm
Bryce Flowers is at ARMY as well
August 27th, 2009 at 10:31 am
I am guessing by D-I you meant D-IA?
Some people are mentioning the Ivy League and Sac St. and if you include that level, the Alameda Hornets have two Moyer Brothers still playing:
DB Ramsey Moyer at UC-Davis and LB Wes Moyer at Yale.
I am assuming you meant D-IA though.
August 27th, 2009 at 12:21 pm
Yeah, I meant D-I FBS or whatever they’re calling it these days. I actually started putting a list of the D-I FCS (I-AA), and that should be up sometime in the next week or so.
August 28th, 2009 at 1:16 pm
I know I should know this because I follow the Oregon Ducks, but what happened to Cameron Colvin? I forget if he was drafted or not, and I didn’t follow him into the NFL today
August 31st, 2009 at 10:14 am
kemp moyer u guys gonna do anything this year? u call the offense for da hornets u guys gonna score against b-high or pinole this year? wat about encinal any predictions?
August 31st, 2009 at 12:05 pm
@Guru-black: after a very tough 2008 (for various reasons, none too important here and now) the squad for 2009 should be lot more like the 2004-2007 seasons where the team went 7-3 each year and made it to the equivalent Division II playoffs three out of those four years. If we do not get back a lot closer to that level or above, it will be a very disappointing year after the strong off-season the kids put in and the returners we have in the program.
This past week we played Campo tight in our scrimmage and the offense looked ready (including scoring on 5 out of 8 plays from the ten in the goal-line period against a physical and disciplined team).
In the end, time will tell, but we should be better than last year barring something amazing and unforeseen.
August 31st, 2009 at 1:45 pm
I hope Alameda gets back to the good days when they were winning. But I don’t know if its this year.
August 31st, 2009 at 6:46 pm
hey kemp who do plan on running the ball with? is league title in the cards or is the accal a 1 team race?
August 31st, 2009 at 6:51 pm
kemp those teams of 04-07 made playoffs but didnt get out the first round u tellin me this year will be different? how does newark look?
September 1st, 2009 at 6:17 am
Kemp, I wouldn’t hang too much on the scrimmage with Campo. I was browsing around the Net & watched Campo’s play-off game vs YV ’08. On offense& defense everyone who started & PLAYED that whole game graduated except for their QB. Macy is a great coach & probably will have his team playing above their potential which is all you can do as a coach. But they will probably be down this year. You can’t beat Varsity experience which they don’t have right now.
