Deon turner will be at the top of the rushing and receiving list soon, right now he just isnt getting many touches because the MD coaches are spreading the ball around, but in league it will be a steady diet of Turner for opposing defenses… everyone else has way more carries then he does but his average is second to none. he is averaging almost 20 yards a carry, and over 20 yards a reception

Ha, nice. Can you tell I’ve covered the whole family? I changed it to Alec Pica.

Devil dad
please dont help anyone in your house with math
If turner was averaging 20 yards per reception he would need only 4 catches to be in the top five, now I have heard of ball distribution but your best player should get the ball more than 1.3 times per game
with the rushing if he was anywhere near 20 yards per carry he would only need 15 or maore carries to break into the top 5, that is 5 carries per game, and unless Mt D is starting from their own 3 yard line he turner would have broken for at least 4 scores with averages like you say.
By the way I did read where Mt D was working on ball distribution by having their starting QB in and throwing a TD when they were up by more than 40 vs de anza last week.

Hey Ben,
You don’t have to worry Alec is the last Pica playing football, that is of course until the grandkids!!!

Whats the deal with Patrone Wood? Why isnt he on this list anywhere? The guy was a top 3 back in the East Bay for it seems like 3 years.
September 23rd, 2009 at 11:56 am
turner should be on the receiving list… He had a 93 yard reception alone last week… And he has less than 15 carries on the season… He probably has about ten carries or so
September 23rd, 2009 at 12:37 pm
Must be that new offense they are running out at YV. That old scrum offense was made for Wood.
September 23rd, 2009 at 1:39 pm
patrone was perfect in the old offense… in this new offense he is just a fullback… i have seen them go single back with patrone but not with too much success… Porchet gets the the majority of the carries now… I have always felt, and still do that porchet is the better back
September 23rd, 2009 at 1:57 pm
If you guys had read up on the games you may have found that patrone has had a few big runs (per game- 70 +yds ea) that were called back on penalties. Were it not for penalties I think he would probably be on the list. with fewer carries as noted. redwood vs yv -142 yards on eight carries (not too shabby). I’m just say’n.

You have to be kidding me. The guy rushed for over a 1,000 yards the last two years and they wont give him the ball where he can be successful? Thats stupid to change things up where one of your best players and leading rusher last year doesn’t get the ball in his hands. Unless the other guy is tearing it up like he was there is no excuse why Wood doesn’t get at least 10-15 touches a game. I see that the new RB Porschet only has 318 yards with 3 TD in 3 games. Patrone Wood was almost getting that amount of yards in one game. Give that man the ball!

Concord put up some impressive numbers Friday against Skyline, and their average total offense is very DLSian. Concord, though, has played three not-so-strong opponents; Friday the officials kept a running clock in the second half. Concord’s coach didn’t necessarily agree with that, calling it a disservice to the players. Concord is going to win more games this year, though not with that amount of ease — the Minutemen have five quality players at skill positions (Floyd, Hightower, Galindo, Pica and Childs), which is one of the keys for a high school team to have success.
