Miramonte’s Juliana Stivanicevic, 2008 Bay Area News Group’s East Bay Player of the Year, has verbally committed to UC Berkeley, accepting a solid walkon offer from the Bears.
Stivanicevic, a dangerous outside hitter for the Matadors and for her club team, will play as a libero/defensive specialist for Cal, which is ranked 12th nationally.
“I’m so excited to have this opportunity,” Stivanicevic said. “The coaching staff and the team are amazing and I can’t wait to be a Golden Bear.”
This guaranteed walkon spot will give Stivanicevic a chance to earn a scholarship.
She chose Cal over Duke, a school that was considering offering her a full scholarship.
