whr is Roberson?
September 28th, 2009 at 4:04 pm
Roberson has 25 carries for 141 yards. He didn’t play last week. I am not sure why.
September 29th, 2009 at 8:52 am
Tennyson is number 1 in offense and number 2 in defense??..Good Job. Mario Brown has that many carries in 3 games??…That is crazy carries for a high school running back
September 29th, 2009 at 8:58 am
Black, you think 78 in three games is a lot, check out Deontae Cooper of Citrus Hill. Two weeks ago, he had 59 carries for 412 yards!!
September 29th, 2009 at 9:03 am
Wow are you serious??…There has to be more than ONE! running back on a high school team. Its only 12 mins a quarter and those 12 mins goes by fast when you run that much

Yep, scroll down to the subhead Running Wild here.

I’d have to think the average is around 60 offensive plays in a high school game, so he basically got the ball on every single play. I just hope the guy didn’t have to play defense!
September 29th, 2009 at 9:36 am
yea I hope he didnt play defense if he got the ball 90% or more of the time. Berkeley running back has a lot of carries too but its gonna drop when its time for league. I see San Leandro is trying to pass more this year. Thats good because I am tired of seeing the same plays in the Wing-T

Tennyson is a sleeper this year in the HAAL…..I don’t think BOD will roll over them this year
September 29th, 2009 at 10:41 am
I dont think so either. BOD has no passing game. Force BOD to pass. Stack the box and contain Mario Brown

Football is a form of art. The lack of coaching ability and team discipline is atrocious, at best.
There’s a certain amount of psychology that goes into coaching, which can enable a kid to perform at a maximum level. In this day an age with A-D-D running ramped and kids have a very short attention span.
The old school coaching which was domineering, overbearing and filled with negative reinforcement is losing it luster. Negative reinforcements don’t work it’s been proving, cant u see the prison system are full of people under these negative reinforcement.
As a coach you are competing against video games, girls, drugs, the internet it runs the gamut. When I played ball in the late 80’s I had one distraction and it was soft and wet and always said hello.
Too many good athletes are being lost to the napoleon-isk coaching styles.
Napoleon lost the war because he couldn’t change his game plan.
Coaches please stop forcing square pegs in round hole.

Like I said before. This league is VERY down. Its not the same strong league anymore like it used be a few years ago. All the teams in this league are not very good. And I mean ALL OF THEM!
September 29th, 2009 at 12:20 pm
Tennyson just lost to an American team that was blown out by Bencia and Oakland Tech. If O’Dowd loses to Tennyson this year, that means the entire ship sank. Looking at the HAAL, it is definitely not their strongest year as a group.
September 29th, 2009 at 1:09 pm
Yea this league is the not as strong as it used to be but its a good league still with good athletes. Its anybodys game in this league and thats good cuz im tired of seeing SL or BOD win it every year
September 29th, 2009 at 1:20 pm
BOD lost to Skyline…I wouldnt even call it a upset if they lose to Tennyson
September 29th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
I would say it is because tennyson hasnt beat BOD in soo many years

why’d you post that twice….?
September 29th, 2009 at 9:38 pm
Actually, you are wrong. What is needed is someone who players will follow. High schoolers look for integrity. If you are consistently what you claim to be, they will respect you. Teams win/loss records don’t always reflect their coaches, but their effort, intensity, and discipline always do. Positive reinforcement and negative reinforcement are both required. I hope that GOAT doesn’t preach this gospel too often because otherwise you’re gonna sound like another kind of barnyard animal.

Maybe eastbay coaches dont know that Napoleon soldier follow him to their deaths
Just because u follow someone does mean there a good leader they mite be fearful of the negative reinforcement or punishment but u will never get ur players to play
for u sacrifice their bodies go all out .
They mite be waiting 2 ring ur neck like another farm animal with feathers.
Only a fool would try something that doesn’t work , over and over and over again year after year after year after year. And expect a different result ….

I definately agree that this league is down this year, I think a big dissapoint has to be Castro Valley. They seem to have talent, but just can’t move the ball against any decent defense. Good luck to the new coach there.

There within lies the problem; “Good luck to the NEW COACH there.” When Coach Seiden took over he moved drastically away from the Pro style offense of Nieves, from a year prior, and even further from the traditional Wing T of Davies and Brennan, which was a staple at CV. By going to the spread he took everything the players had learned and dumped it, not criticizing the move. It will take at least 3 – 4 years to see what the new coach is all about, as is the case with all new coaches. I know the man, he’s awful smart and is well equipped for coaching.

When I covered the game against Granada, CV ran Heka all night, but averaging 1.5 yards a carry just isn’t going to get it done. The Trojans should do OK in league, good shot at a win VS San Lzo.
