UPDATED AGAIN WITH PIEDMONT UNABLE TO SCHEDULE A GAME: 1:30 P.M. TUESDAY, OCT. 20
Piedmont coach Kurt Bryan just informed me his team was officially unable to schedule a game. The Highlanders were turned down by a couple of teams who might’ve been able to play a game and there wasn’t enough notice to set up games with some other teams.
UPDATED WITH INFORMATION ON OTHER TEAMS LOOKING FOR GAMES:
I just received word from Piedmont High coach Kurt Bryan, who was informed by the administration at Kennedy-Richmond that the Eagles will be canceling the remainder of their varsity season. Piedmont, which was scheduled to play Kennedy this Friday, is now looking to fill the new-found gap on the schedule. (Piedmont won’t be able to fill the gap, they’ll take the forfeit victory and have a week off now). Encinal is looking for a game the week of Nov. 6-7 and St. Mary’s is looking for a game the week of Nov. 13-14. Albany was scheduled to play Kennedy on Oct. 31, so presumably the Cougars may be looking for a game as well. Interested teams may contact Encinal coach Joe Tenorio at jtguam95@yahoo.com and St. Mary’s coach Keith Minor at (510) 507-9272 or kminor@stmchs.org.

We could of had a game week 0 with Logan or week 9 with B-High cause I knew this was gonna happen in February. I don’t blame anybody certainly not the coaches but why do I have to play this team next year? NCS wouldn’t let me drop them & schedule Logan or B-High.

Coach Bryan,
Also check with Aquinas from the Southern Section – Christian League.
Also check with Tulelake from the North Section – Evergreen League.
Small schools but a game is a game.
I spoke with you on the phone earlier tonight and put a post up on Nor-Cal Preps site also.
Good Luck!

It may be too late for Piedmont, but it looks like Galileo in San Francisco has 9 games and a bye this weekend now that Mission has cancelled the remainder of their season.
October 20th, 2009 at 3:58 pm
Galileo turned down Piedmont’s request to schedule a game.
October 20th, 2009 at 4:10 pm
Heard Modoc turned down Piedmont also. They must not want to risk their State Bowl bid playing a 10th game.

“Galileo turned down Piedmont’s request to schedule a game.”
That is sad. Why would you deny your seniors one more chance to play a game? They can’t seriously believe they’re in line for a state bowl, can they?

Can we get the BSAL stats updated?? Seems like someone from Swett is pencil whipping on the rushing stats on Maxpreps. Comedy. Let’s not pad the stats Swett! Don’t worry – Brown Ryan will have his work cut out for him this Friday at Encinal. If he goes for 100 against that D – he is for real. Not sure yet though. I hear Encinal aint’ trippin off him at all. Encinal got 3 backs that are better than him!

BSAL sats??? the suspense is killing us.
October 21st, 2009 at 10:16 am
Lowell high needs a game on 11/6 because of mission canceling its season. Encinal should look into that.
October 21st, 2009 at 10:44 am
You’ve got to be patient BSAL Watcher. It takes a while to put all the stats together and we have different people compile each of the league’s stats. (Several leagues are done by our free lancers, who then send them to me to post.) At worst, they’ll be up by tomorrow, but hopefully later today.

Jimmy you’re doing a great job! Stats took much longer last season to go up and there were more writers involed.

Reading the update for a possible Piedmont game makes me sick. Galileo and Modoc were contacted by Piedmont on monday to set up a game for friday or saturday. How much more of a notice do you need? What a joke! I guess that tough practice of walk throughs and special teams on the day before the game is important. I guess playoff pairings done on the sunday before the first playoff game is not enough time also.

Brown Ryan seems just as fast as Cunningham of Alameda which Encinal put in check.. Gonna be a great game this week
October 21st, 2009 at 2:28 pm
I will wait patiently for the BSAL stats. Not complaining, just anxious.
I think the Jets are quietly waiting to pounce on the Panthers.
Jet4ever52 – sounds like you are saying Brown Ryan will be put in check too? That was my point. I don’t think Encinal is worried one bit about SM.
Encinal 34 – St. Mary’s 14

Yea I saw their game against Piedmont and his speed does not compare to someone like Adonis Smith of Serra. So yea i think its Homecoming for Encinal too so its going to be a wild Night
October 21st, 2009 at 3:59 pm
Sounds like a mugging in the making. If Brown Ryan isn’t a threat what about Lovett?
October 21st, 2009 at 8:13 pm
Lovett will expose the jets corners all night. This will open up the run game and allow Brown Ryan to be a impact. Both of these guys will have over 100 yards at the end of the night no problem.
October 21st, 2009 at 8:58 pm
LETS GO,
By the end of the game friday I will bet these kids will not exceed 200yds combined throwing the ball. St. Mary’s will see some speed they haven’t seen all year long when they come down to the swamp and play encinal.
October 21st, 2009 at 10:52 pm
“The Swamp” is what you guys call that dirt field? I see why you would call it that.
October 21st, 2009 at 11:07 pm
Oh yeah,They told me one time at high tide during a storm the bay came up on the end of the field. Jet Pride!
October 21st, 2009 at 11:08 pm
Awww ManDown,We got a lil bit of Grass.
Jet Pride!
October 21st, 2009 at 11:54 pm
The fog and damp conditions starts to come off the water, makes quite a sight and has a swamp like atmosphere to it. If you don’t believe us ask people from Acalanes High and they will tell you.
October 21st, 2009 at 11:56 pm
Yeah i remember that night, was like a cotton blanket. Jet Pride.
October 21st, 2009 at 11:59 pm
Just one of many countless days at that school.
October 22nd, 2009 at 12:15 am
Yea it was like that at Serra this year. The water is right next to the field and its vey cold and dark. I can only imagine how it looks when its wet.
