    OK OAL ?
THREE TEAMS RANKED ON DEFENSE !!
    ONE IN SCORING !!
    TWO IN RUSHING !!!

WE GOT A FEW REPS OUT THERE.

    KNIGHT PRIDE !!

  2. pink socks Says:

    JB
who wins the YV vs Conocrd game?

  3. KillerD Says:

A repost of my predictions for this weekend’s Big Games: Week # 9:

    ACCAL:

    El Cerrito at Alameda –

Who will show up for the Green & White uniformed Gauchos? Doctor Jekyl or Mister Hyde?
Predicting the results for this year’s El Cerrito’s team is like trying to guess the weather on a tropical island – stormy, sunny, stormy or sunny? Hmmm…let’s go with….stormy?
Both teams lost to Encinal rather not well and both teams beat Pinole. So, that leaves the one remaining common opponent remaining Berkeley. EC got killed and shut out by Berkeley at EC, while the Hornets of Alameda did rather well vs. the DI talent-laden Yellow Jackets at Berkeley, and only lost by two touchdowns.

That factoid leads this NCS football lover/prognosticator to go with a Black-n-Gold swarm of angry Hornets on D to somewhat shut down EC’s best talent, and also allowing the Alameda offense to keep things on the ground more than EC wants it to.

    Prediction: Alameda – 29 vs. El Cerrito – 17

    DFAL:

    Campolindo at Acalanes –

In recent years this late in the regular season, expectantly Campo is limbering up for a Top # 4-8 seed in the NCS playoffs, working on some “new packages” and sending out their JV and Frosh coaching staffs to scout potential playoff opponents. “Oh what a difference a year makes – and Oh what a difference Talent level makes.” The volatile ocean known as the up and down Talent-Level of high school football at great public schools has been put on full display in 2009 throughout the DFAL except for this year’s best team – Alhambra. The DFAL, a powerhouse league dripping with good playmakers usually, has been victimized by a precipitous drop in speed and upper level talent this year, except for Alhambra.

Acalanes is the beneficiary of this year’s overall league decline, and the Don’s ground beef rushing attack makes a weaker DFAL stable of opponents wince when prepping for Acalanes. Acalanes beat a weak Las Lomas this year, but then did play Alhambra very tough, they also a very down Miramonte squad, the same Miramonte that crushed Campolindo. The Cougars of Moraga will have to throw, throw and throw to beat Acalanes, but it’s very difficult to toss the ball around when your offensive team is standing on the sidelines watching Acalanes eat up 8-minutes off the clock with an 18-play drive bruising, yawning drive.

    Prediction: Acalanes – 24 vs. Camplindo – 14

    DVAL:

    Concord at Ygnacio Valley –

One would think a comparison of common opponents would be enough to pick the winner of this outstanding contest upcoming. But that would be mere ‘child’s play’ for in-depth high school football clarevoyants wanting to delve deeper into this juicy matchup.

The key to this pick rests in the game pitting Skyline vs. Oakland Tech earlier this year. What?
Oakland Tech’s team speed gave YV major problems and causes young Coach Turner to make adjustments afterwards. But, Concord wiped Skyline off the map by 50-points, even though Skyline played Oakland Tech above average. Morale of the Story – Concord can score on anybody and YV cannot. Concord’s QB will fire bullets all over the field, and the Minutemen will run enough draws and screens to keep the Warriors scrambling defense off balance. And, YV will counter with a more balanced approach, but that will be harder and harder to do once Concord gets on a roll and opens up a 17-point lead midway through the 3rd quarter. YV will be forced to pass most of the time, and the trap will close shut.

This is Concord’s year and they are not only playing for the DVAL title this week, but wanting to hang 50-points in hopes of earning the # 1 seed in the D2 playoffs.

    Prediction: Concord – 44 vs. Ygnacio Valley – 21

    EBAL:

    California at Monte Vista –

The thing separating Monte Vista from the EBAL cellar resting atop Livermore’s head is their win over Granada who had lost their QB for the season. On paper to a casual observer, this game appears to be close, but the fire-and-brimstone solid young Coach Bellicci has the Cal High team gathering steam, ramping up for a killer showdown with his DLS alma-mater next week, and the 2009 version of the MV Mustangs have suddenly become a Tune Up game for the Grizz.

Cal will use a crushing ground game, good enough passing game and varied pass coverage to keep the awesome Nottingham off the field as much as possible, and hesitant and flinchy when he is on it. Nottingham will get his throwing yards and TD’s, but his numbers will not eclipse those he put up vs. Foothill two weeks ago on ESPNU.

Prediction: Cal High – 30 vs. Monte Vista – 21

    MCAL:

    Terra Linda at Tamalpais –

Tamalpais will blow out the upstart but very average Trojans hoping to impress the NCS selection committee as they tune up for their big game with Marin Catholic next week. Terra Linda has no chance, and Tam is only hoping to be 100% healthy for the trial next week vs. a D3 top 3 seed.

    Prediction: Tamalpais – 35 vs. Terra Linda-14

    MVAL:

    James Logan at Washington –

Ever since Washington beat Cal high in their opener, they have garnered attention and a proper ranking above Cal high in this week’s poll. And after the biggest NCS school in Nor Cal Logan got slapped in the face twice on each cheek by Foothill, they have been clamoring for respect while slowly working their way back up to a 6-3 record.

Problem is, Logan has beaten Nobody worthy of a true Division I playoff upper echelon team.

So, Logan will come out and play inspired football, all the while knowing they are fighting for their NCS playoff life. However, Washington is too strong across the board and will outfox the Colts in the 4th quarter.

    Prediction: Washington – 29 vs. Logan – 17

    SCAL:

    Case Grande at Healdsburg:

Rain is going to be a factor in this contest, and it will do wonders to slow down the bigger, faster and stronger Casa Grande team, as they battle the Greyhounds on a clumpy and soggier than usual turf. But, are the Hounds of Healdsburg a “Mudder Team?”

Could be, and all fans of Greyhound football (especially the staff and players) understand a major upset of the Gauchos will do wonders for their NCS playoff seeding big time. But, dreams are one thing and reality is another, especially on the unforgiving grid iron vs. a physically superior opponent playing well too. Healdsburg is very well coached and so is Casa Grande, given those two facts – it comes down to the number of Weapons on each team.

Casa has more firepower than the Hounds and that will be the difference in the game as the Hounds get kenneled.

Prediction: Casa Grande – 24 vs. Healdsburg 15

  4. THE WHISTLE Says:

Killer D — excellent job on your predictions. Nice and in-depth. Always a joy to read. I will go against you on the EBAL prediction. Monte Vista backed into a corner, rallies and wins 34-27, getting the turn around they need with the “should easily win” game against San Ramon next week. The “should easily win” in quotations because of it being a rivalry game and anything can and usually does happen.

  5. Prep Fan Says:

It should be a good game Whistle. Can’t wait. Cal is going for their second win at MV in a row as they won there 2 years ago, after having gone their entire existence without ever havig won there. The game of the week in the EBAL, but not as important as Washington – Logan, as it doesn’t have title implications. Unless of course Cal somehow beats MV and then DLS next week in which case Cal shares the EBAL title at 6-1.

  6. Kyle Bonagura Says:

Cal won at Monte Vista in 1999 as well.

That and the win in 2007 are the only two wins Cal has over MV … ever.

  7. Prep Fan Says:

So Cal has never beaten MV at home? Last year was a close one, with Cal getting across midfield before a fumble in the waning moments derailed their last drive and they lost by 3. Maybe next year? Cal ought to be very strong next season, as they have a lot of good juniors. Both teams will need to replace their QBs, as Nottingham and Kaehler will be hard to match.

  8. ebal1 Says:

Cal proved against AV that they can limit the running game somewhat, Turay had some decent gains but wasn’t able to run as effectively as he has in other games. It’ll be interesting to see if they can limit the MV passing attack the same way they did Foothill’s. This could end up a very high scoring game as MV have not proven able to stop the power running game, which is a strenth of Cal. I wish this game were on Comcast instead of the DeLa vs Foothill game.

If what I read in another post was correct, Cameron Rolland (current #2 reciever to McGovern at MV in NCS), is really out for the year?, some inexperienced guys are going to need to step up for Foothill at the reciever position. The DLS D-line will be licking its chops to go after Mannion with almost no running game whatsover at Foothill this year. This game could get ugly for the Falcons.

Good Luck to Granada, if they can somehow beat SRV with thier backup QB and then beat Livermore in thier finale, we could see 7 EBAL teams make NCS this year! What a great statement for the league!

  9. JB Says:

Concord has a good team and a few weapons that can hurt you. But if you don’t turn the ball something we didn’t do and cover there WR like we did you will have a good chance to win. I think this will be a good game if YV can run then it will be a good close game.

    knight pride !!

  10. bhsfan Says:

    coach jb is peanut playing

  11. bhsfan Says:

hey jimmy or kyle, why dont ind. defensive stats up like tackles, int’s and sacks

  12. bhsfan Says:

didnt finish but why dont they get posted

  13. Jimmy Durkin Says:

    Bhsfan,
The stats we post are the ones we keep ourselves when covering games. It’s tough enough sometimes to keep track of all the offensive stats and would be impossible to keep accurate defensive stats (sure INTs and sacks wouldn’t be that hard although sacks can something be hard to tell who got it, but tackles would impossible).

  14. COACH JB Says:

    Yes hes playing !!!!

    Knight Pride !!

  15. gauchofan Says:

killerd…did EC show up or what

  16. 2210 Says:

Killer D Good call on the MV vs CAL game MV wins 45-24 guess it wasn’t such a tune up for Cal…

  17. renegades10 Says:

Well in regards to DI playoffs I think all the big games left come out of the EBAL with three huge matchups next week. There is also the two games in the BVAL.

EBAL: SRV vs. MV- This rivalry game is always unpredictable. and these two teams have been unpredictable all season. I think MV takes it this year though.

Amador vs. Foothill- This game has usually ended up in favor of the Foothill Falcons, however I think Amador has the stingy D to beat the Falcons this year.

Cal vs. DLS- This game is quite intriguing especially with Spartans not playing very sharp tonight and Cal coming off a disheartening loss and looking to make a statement going into NCS. Also with Washington losing to Logan tonight Cal’s seeding has dropped. Throw in the fact that last year, DLS won on a last minute td run and the new Cal coach is a former DLS player and this game has plenty of sizzle. DLS must win this this game for the outright EBAL title and most likely number 1 seed in the NCS playoffs. Cal needs this if they want to be higher then a seven or eight seed. Cal seems to always start strong but finish horribly and the Spartans are a very good second half team. I think DLS wins this by two or three scores.

In the BVAL Deer Valley finishes with Heritage. Deer Valley needs to win this for an outright title and for an undefeated season which gives them most likely the number 2 seed. Both teams have qualified for playoffs but if Heritage does not want to be a bottom seed they must win. Think DV will be too much and win handily.

Then we have the Little Big Game between Pittsburg and Antioch. Pitt has dominated this game the last few years but are down this year will Antioch has played decently. Pitt is already into the playoffs but this is a must win for Antioch if they want to qualify. Rivalry games are always unpredictable but I think Pitt pulls it together for the win.

That being said I will not even try to take a stab at any seedings other then the top 4. There are too many teams who have beat other teams who beat the first teams. The EBAL situation really screwed it up. So my top four are

    1. DLS
    2. DV
    3. AV
    4. Berkeley

I think AV will be seeded ahead of Berkeley because they do have the better wins. DV and AV could be flip flopped because even if they meet the game will be at DV.

  18. Fast and Physical Says:

Spartanville I just watched you guys, you looked very average, against a below average team, foothill. Spartanville with turnovers, and all the training you guys been doing, where’s the muscles? Your not a great team, you are all hyped, on past reputation, can we say OVERRATED! Deer Valley will beat you. Don’t worry the mighty jackets with the soft schedule, undiscipline, average line, were all there, to see for theirselves. P.S. don’t compare Rickey, with Ward, no comparisons! Player of the Year, Run Rickey Run, Go Jackets!

  19. THE WHISTLE Says:

I blew off the DLS at Foothill game one block from my house to check out the Cal-MV game and much like I predicted, MV got it done.

Actually went up there to honor Kyle Wright, who had his number retired before the game. Classy move for a great kid who played the position like few others in Bay Area high school history. All around great kid! Congrats Stangs — great win.

One observation, Cal should let that QB throw some more. What a great arm.

  20. bhsfan Says:

ward is a good back but galvin is on another level, he is one of those special players you’ll will tell stories about to ur kids and grand kids and so on, galvin best back in the bay hands down.

b high has to b one of the biggest teams, these ebal teams are very small.

    go jackets

  21. bhsfan Says:

V ur the man, cant wait for the playoffs, b high has the best offensive player in galvin and best defensive player in keenan cooglar [linebacker] if u dont know bout him ask all the backs and QB’s that faced b high.

  22. renegades10 Says:

spartans played sloppy tonight no question about it. It was a down game for them I think they underestimated Foothill especially in the first half. expect a big difference next week. don’t forget though that they held a Pac 10 bound quarterback in check and if not for a little help from the refs Foothill would have been shutout. That’s the lowest amount of points the Falcons have been held to all year. Foothill is better then any team Berkeley has faced this year with the exception maybe being Pitt who was blasted by MV, a team Foothill beat.

And just a quick bit of advice, DLS will not underestimate any team the rest of the season. For the Jacket supporters don’t underestimate these EBAL teams either. Just because they beat up on each other in league doesn’t mean they are not very good teams. The 5 other teams that will make it besides DLS are tough and tested football teams. EBAL league play is already in a playoff atmosphere right now.

In regards to Galvin and Ward, if DLS played Berkeley’s schedule I bet Ward would have the same numbers as him maybe better. Galvin is a pretty good running back but I don’t think he is ready to be put on the same status as an MJD, DJ Williams, Kevin Simon. Just a thought.

  23. ManO'War Says:

Hey Renegade, you didn’t mention “ref help” with Ward stepping out of bounds first but being awarded TD and longer run anyway. “Little help from the refs”?! – too funny man.

  24. ManO'War Says:

Whistle – hats off to you for correct prediction MV over Cal. Lots of lookers here very surprised by that result, thought Cal’s running game couldn’t be stopped, wouldn’t allow MV time to score, etc. Cal knew McGovern would be a target, but that’s what really couldn’t be stopped.

  25. KillerD Says:

    Top Form to:

El Cerrito, Monte Vista and James Logan ALL good wins.

  26. KillerD Says:

And, Campolindo exposed Acalanes too, nice job.

  27. AllowedToHaveAnOpinion Says:

as far as the ward and galvin discussion, you guys have to remember ward is in the de la salle option scheme and backs in the option have luxury of guys chasing their assignments which puts them in bad pursuit angles allowing the backs to run wild but berkeley has an alot simpler running scheme and they use alot of I-formation and in these pro style running scheme, the defense only has to worry about converging on the runner once they read run making their pursuit alot simpler forcing the back to rely on his vision and playmaking ability more with more people converging on them quickly so in my opinion Galvin is the better back although Ward is a great back who makes alot of plays agaisnt tough competition his offense just is designed so that the defense cannot just converge on one runner

  28. bhsfan Says:

renegades10 have u ever seen a b high game this year, nobody compared galvin to mo drew or any or ur dls past guys, u really ride or die wit ur spartans, u could have seen a b high game to say that ward will put up big numbers on b high defense, i think coach carter is going to love that comment. part of the problem is u ebal and spartinville guys think so highly of urselves and if they dont play an ebal team u havent played anybody, but the playoffs will settle all the talk ps these ebal teams are small and not that fast

    bang and burst
    go jackets
    tackle keenan tackle

  29. bhsfan Says:

and just for you gentlemen that think all they have is rickey galvin, just the last few box scores, we got a few other explosive players, berkeley is very fast and physical and will hit u in the mouth. one more week of regular season, playoffs is a coming

  30. jacketfan Says:

renegades 10 if foothill had a good running back dls would have been beat. Good job foothill you played well
    with what you had.

  31. renegades10 Says:

you are right mano’war i did forget that he stepped out at the 1 yard line. bhsfan i don’t think EBAL teams are the only teams that know how to play good football but jesus with the way you berkeley fans come on here and talk about your team it’s like everyone else is too slow, too small. the game looks slower on tv. Wait until you see the DLS D in person swarming to the ball and making hits. Every team they play knows DLS D hits hard. so what I haven’t seen a b-high game, I don’t come on here talking about b-high being undisciplined with an average line. I only go by the numbers obviously Galvin is a good back with his numbers. The defense has outstanding numbers but then again what offenses have they faced. Guess we will have to wait until playoffs to see a passing game unveiled.

I didn’t say ward would put up big numbers on the b-high defense, I said he would probably have the same numbers Galvin does now or maybe better if DLS played Berkeley’s schedule. Galvin might be better, but is he hands down better shouldn’t even compare the two as you said, I don’t think so.

  32. renegades10 Says:

DLS run D is good we will find out how good next week.

  33. ROEPER Says:

    # 67 from De La Salle should win MVP in that league. I believe he is a Defensive End / Defensive Tackle. The boy is plays hard, he is fast, has hella big hits, and he is nasty. He almost ripped Foothills little RB head off last night and he smashed Adonis Smith several different times. His play had a hand in beating Serra fo sho. I wouldn’t call him a “dirty player” but he is definitley a Bill Romanowski type. Every coach would love to coach this guy.

  34. renegades10 Says:

Dylan Wynn he’s only a junior. He was an all state soph last year with I believe 15 sacks. He only has I think 5 this year but he is facing a lot of double teams since everyone knows who he is now. He will be a beast next year. Also plays O-line now.

  35. bhsfan Says:

renegades10 i have seen dls, know a player or 2. come check berkeley out next week friday 530

roeper #67 is a beast, noticed him last year as a soph in the state game

  36. renegades10 Says:

Bhsfan- I am going to try and make it out to B-High’s first playoff game. Watching them beat up on a helpless Pinole squad just isn’t worth the drive. I want to see them play a team that will be able to put up a fight.

And I do want to say I don’t doubt that Berkeley is a good team. What I am hearing is exactly what I heard last year from the Pitt fans though. That they were too big and fast. That the D was going to shut down Kylan Butler. Their Pac-10 bound cornerbacks were not gonna allow Blake Wayne completions. Joe Lewis was going to expose the secondary. The running backs would run all over the D-Line. So you could see how it kind of gets old after awhile when every year we hear the same thing. Best of luck to the team hope everyone stays healthy.

  37. KillerD Says:

KillerD’s – Peering into the 2009 NCS Playoffs with One Week To Go:

    Division I –

What a wild last two weeks it has been for high school bay area football! With kudos to all of the other D1 teams, it’s difficult to see any other teams besides the top 4 squads in D1 winning the title this year.

    1. Deer Valley: Business like approach to beating Antioch last night in prepping for showdown with Heritage forthcoming. 3,200 students form the coalition known as the Wolverines at Deer Valley, and their abundance of talent on full display. This team will finish the year 10-0 and earn the # 1 seed.

    2. De La Salle: Foothill (way down this year and cannot run the ball) was able to keep this game way too close, and DLS only led by 6-points at the Half. Foothill’s marvelous Head Coach Sweeney crafted an excellent game plan, and they had the Spartans befuddled. DLS eventually wore down the Falcons in the 2nd half, but the 2009 Spartans are not the best team in D1 right now, they are however, the runner-up heading into the Playoffs. Coach Lad for DLS is a master at preparing his team for the Playoffs and a first-round Bye will do good things for them this year to get healthy and sweep up the miscues.

    3. Berkeley: They will dispatch a Roller Coaster Pinole Valley team and finish the year 10-0 certainly. The Yellow Jackets have generated a lot of buzz in 2009, and about half of it comes from Very Skeptical boo-birds unconvinced of Coach Zo’s talent-laden team. Berkeley will advance to the 2nd Round of the Playoffs and attack their 2nd major test of the season (prediction coming at that time). They scored well by defeating Pitt on their first test, but Final Exams are always more difficult that midterms.

    4. Amador: This is Coach Sira’s best team in years – and he knows it. Amador still shaking its head after having DLS on the Ropes at DLS, before the Dons misfired, backfired and eventually got fired from the major upset of historical NCS proportions Win Column that night. Dons will be in the semi-final game vs. either Deer Valley or DLS in 2009, depending upon the final seeding by the committee.

    Division II –

This has become quite the “Seesaw” bracket with many teams rolling the dice and coming up Snake Eyes. It’s shaping up to a Five Team race, for now here is that field:

Petaluma: The undefeated Trojans thrashed a solid Windsor team last night 55-21. They will continue their march and accomplish an undefeated season by tossing Healdsburg around next week and finish 10-0. True to form, the NCS rewards undefeated teams from good leagues with the # 1 seed…………..IF the other top teams in the field have at least One Loss. Petaluma goes undefeated and they earn the right to be numero Uno.

Concord: IF they defeat Ygnacio Valley today (I believe they will), the Minutemen will have only lost to a good San Ramon unit. If your team can Throw the ball very well, then you always have a chance to comeback and win. That axiom is proven correct each week across the nation through rain, snow, even wind and heat. Concord can toss the ball on any Defense they face, and draw and screen enough to keep teams honest.

Casa Grande: The Gauchos proved to be up to task on a soggy Healdsburg home turf, and their muddy win last night was to be expected. The squashing of El Molino upcoming will have CG at 9-1 entering the playoffs, and they might be peaking at the right time, with a breather game, they could also get healthy before entering the slaughterhouse known as the Playoffs, which will really help them big time.

Eureka: Back in the Gold Mining days of yesteryear, “Eureka!” was the cry aloud by gritty hardworking Miners that hit pay dirt. Eureka is supposed to beat Fortuna this week and should finish 8-2. But, their real test will begin in the 2nd round of the playoffs, after they get a Home Game up North in Round One, and crush the weaker lower seed team forced to make the winding-rain-soaked bus ride up there to be sacrificed to the NCS playoff Gods.

Ygnacio Valley: IF they lose to Concord today (I believe they will), coupled with their loss to Oakland Tech, they will be dropped to the 5th spot by the committee. But, if they defeat Concord today, then they swap Slots with the Minutemen for sure. YV has enough talent and good coaching to beat anybody in this arena, however, to expect an excellent but Rookie head coach to Win it All in year one is a bit too much.

    Division III –

This might be the best D3 tournament in years, with six or nine teams capable of pulling off huge wins, upsets and memories for a lifetime.

    1. Encinal: Jets have the BSAL player of the year (Duckett) in a league that has more legit Division I collegiate level talent at a variety of positions than any other east bay league. Encinal’s Thunder-n-Lightening assault vehicle on the ground continues to crush opponents.

    2. Marin Catholic: Coach Peralta’s Wildcats will be 9-1 and making their case to be the # 1 seed – but they will not get it. Showdown upcoming in the 2nd round of the playoffs, after they get rid of the unlucky 15th-ranked D3 team that must travel to Kentfield and become the fodder for the Wildcats on a crisp Saturday afternoon at MC.

    3. Alhambra: The NCS committee will be reluctant to give the # 1 & 2 seeds to East Bay teams, if another team (MC) is also suffering from only one defeat. Therefore the Bulldogs will be victimized by the geographic parity mechanism, and even though a coin flip could do justice betwixt MC and Alhambra, the Bulldogs will be seeded 3rd. Again, they will mash the #14 ranked team in the playoffs at home in Martinez, before getting a solid test in the 2nd round.

    4. El Cerrito: HUGE win for the Gauchos over Alameda, and their Overdose on the passing game proved the correct Prescription to defeat the Hornets last night. With VERY big Wins over D2 Pinole and Alameda, and the slapping around of Campolindo, El Cerrito Leap Frogs the surly Novato squad based on El Cerrito’s Strength of VICTORIES, even though both teams will finish 7-3.

    5. Novato: Coach Brackett’s Hornets have two good wins but not Great wins, defeating Foothill of Palo Cedro near Redding, and Tamalpais from their own watered-down league. It will be tough sledding for Novato to look the committee in the eye (literally and figuratively since the meeting is behind locked doors and coaches are not allowed) and to convince them that both of the teams they beat are better than Pinole and Alameda (whom El Cerrito beat). Novato is not accustomed to being seeded so low (for them) and it will be interesting to see how do against the 12th ranked team in prepping for the 2nd round?

    6. Piedmont: It will be hard for Tamalpais (7-3) after getting beat by MC this weekend) to believe they are ranked below the Highlanders, but IF Piedmont defeats St. Patrick’s this weekend in a tough battle, they will also finish 7-3 in the nasty BSAL, and that league is better than Tam’s in 2009. However, if Piedmont goes down in defeat and finishes 6-4, they will drop a spot, but Tamalpais is not a Top 7 team in this year’s grouping.

    7. Healdsburg: The Greyhounds gave CG all they could handle last night going down in defeat. They will lose to Petaluma this weekend and finish 6-4. A very good record for a D3 playoff team, and their brutal schedule speaks volumes. Yes, wins count more than losses do, and their six victories are a lot considering the teams below them.

    8. Tamalpais: 7-3 is a very good season, and new head coach Goyer has done a bang up job. But, they have a weaker schedule and no big wins at all, and this 8th slot gives them a Home Playoff game, a huge boost for their program and kids.

    9. Fortuna: Like Tam, the Huskies 7-3 record (if they lose to Eureka) is a very nice tally. But their loss to Ferndale (a very good D4 team) and terribly bad strength of schedule makes the 9th slot the highest possible ranking they can attain heading into the postseason. A couple of angry teams below them will bemoan the committee’s choice of Fortuna, but Analy’s annual late season meltdown hurt them dearly last night, and a 5-5 JFK Fremont team won’t jump them either.

    10. JFK Fremont: Old Coach Michaletos is teaching the coaching fraternity that experience counts, and if they win tonight are assured of a 5-5 record, vs. a very tough schedule. The Titans will be on the road up to Healdsburg if this ranking of D3 teams holds true, and it will shape up to be a very good game, given the Titans ability to move the chains using three plays: Give, Counter and Boot.

    11. Campolindo: Out of the Abyss, the Cougars from Moraga played the game of the year last night and beat a stunned Acalanes via the air. Their battle this week vs. Las Lomas could go either way (predictions later this week on Big Games), but regardless, they are assured at least a 5-5 record with a win over Acalanes. After Miramonte gets pummeled by Alhambra this weekend, Campo will be sitting in the ‘Catbird Seat’ and that’s exactly where a Cougar likes to be.

    12. Acalanes: Solid Coach Ivankovich’s Dons had their hearts broken last night in their loss at Home to Campo. It did deliver a brutal punch to the Gut, however it did not Dash the Playoff hopes of the Dons. Finishing at 5-5, assured a playoff spot, and with a much needed week of rest before the playoffs, the Dons can rest up, scout potential playoff opponents this weekend and get ready to maybe surprise people with a First Round upset on the road if they can control the clock vs. a hardened Novato defense.

    13. Bishop O’Dowd: Coach Perenon is a very good coach, has been through the NCS wringer before, and understands that the ONLY thing that counts is getting into the Playoffs, from there, anything is possible. Their hard fought loss to San Leandro showed two things: BOD is a somewhat down, and two – they can score a lot of points when they mix the run and the pass. BOD moving up the ladder is due to their strength of schedule (IF they win this weekend to finish 4-5-1), and the upcoming collapse of Terra Linda, and Analy’s bitter pill they were forced to swallow last night without water vs. Sonoma Valley.

    14. Miramonte: After spanking and pounding Campo into submission earlier this year, Coach Wade’s Matadors seemed to be ready to finish 7-3 or at worst 6-4, but they faltered again. Their upcoming loss to Alhambra this weekend will get them a final reckoning of 4-6, and then a Rematch with Alhambra again in Round One. Alhambra has too much size and speed for the Mats, and it will be back-to-back losses for Miramonte.

    15. Moreau Catholic: Two weeks ago, the Mariner’s knew their game vs. Piedmont was for the Whole Enchilada regarding Playoff rankings. Closing out the season vs. Piedmont, St.Patricks and Encinal would be hard for any D3 team, physically, schematically and mentally. But, the Mariners will finish (4-6) in the cast iron BSAL, and they will make a playoff journey over to Marin Catholic, after having faced the D3 Top Seed (Encinal) to close out the regular season. Zero mercy goes the fate for the Bottom Two Seeds in this year’s unforgiving D3 loaded field.

    16. Somoma Valley: The unluckiest and most distraught head football coach in the NCS this off-season will be Analy head coach, Daniel Bourdon. Last night, his Analy team completely dropped the Anvil on both of their bare feet, crushing not only the bones in each foot, but their 2009 playoff hopes with it. Analy finishes the season at 5-5, a decent record for sure. BUT, their OOPS head-to-head loss to Sonoma Valley last night, and a lower standing in that league than Sonoma, will sequester the Analy coach in a lonely place, mumbling to himself in the bleak, cold and unrelenting winter, as he watches the NCS playoffs and utters, “It should be us, and not Sonoma Valley vs. Encinal.”

renegade10 berkeley was in the house for Dls v foothill.
you should have come over and introduce yourself?

  39. donut Says:

Berkeley does sound like PItt last year, but its not the same. Hearing the same old stuff does get old, Nobody Has Beaten DLS yet and until then cant say What If. Also B-High please win a playoff game so we can belive you guys. Good Luck I want to be proved wrong Jackets use this and get it done show what you can do!

  40. Mike Says:

Whistle I agree Cal’s QB Kaehler is a good arm but he’s a senior so he won’t have much more time to show off his arm. Cal is a power running team mostly and they use that to set up the pass. Its too bad cuz he is a good passer but they dont need him to most of the time. Against NCS foes, who knows depeneds on the match up and the game plan but I think they keep it on the ground with RB Alvarez, FB Javier, Wildcat Davis and pass to keep them honest lOl

  41. Prep Fan Says:

I believe Berkeley is deserving of a high seed at NCS and is a solid team. I am looking forward to seeing just how they match up with some of the “lower tier” EBAL teams they are likely to face in the first few rounds of the playoffs (Foothill, Cal, MV, SRV). If they can get by them and they may, then we’ll see how they stack up against AV, DV and DLS. Their marquee win this year is a 2-point win over 2nd place Pitt, who is still a quality team, but a step or 2 below where they were last season.

I hear all the bantering back and forth from the B-High supporters and naysayers, and am just looking forward to seeing how they actually stack up on the field. It won’t be long now.

  42. Raider Fan Says:

Dlyn Winn… Wow! He is a boy!!

  43. Raider Fan Says:

EBAL MVP: #67 Dylan Wynn. Ward is not as valuable as Dylan Wynn. Renegades, You must have a good eye too. This guy is a beast. B-High better game plan wisely

  44. Mike Says:

Turray Stancil Co MVPS more valuable than Wynn for their TEAM

  45. jacketfan Says:

    raider fan
mr.wynn will meet b-high tackle mr. henderson,it should be a good contest.

  46. ebal1 Says:

B-High fans sure talk alot of smack for a team having such a week schedule. I’m just sayin. I can’t wait for the playoffs to shut these guys up. Then all we’ll have to listen to are excuses ;-)

  47. 2210 Says:

Killer D hate to say your wrong about AV but I just feel that although the have a good team they have gotten some big breaks in games plus some miscuse from Killer D hate to say your wrong about AV but I just feel that although the have a good team they have gotten some big breaks in games plus some miscues from those teams (MV & Cal), I will give you they played DLS very well and had a great shot at beating them but I went to the AV-SRV game and if they play like that (turnovers galore) against anyone in playoffs it is 1 and done for them…
As far as Dylan Wynn goes again talented but the kid is CHEAP on the field, hits in the back, hits after the play and all around dirty in the scrums don’t want to put it on the kid because coaches watch and if they allow it then I put it on them.

  48. ebal1 Says:

2210, you are absolutely correct regarding AV if they turn the ball over like they did against SRV… BUT they have not turned over the ball like that in any other game. The optimist might say, how good are they that they were able to overcome 6 turnovers and still win 35-16 vs SRV? Breaks go both ways in Football and most of the time balance themselves out. You are convieniently forgetting that AV turned over the ball to MV while heading toward a touchdown themselves in the 2nd quarter. Cal has proven (and acknowledged themselves), that they aren’t a very good 2nd half team which they proved again this week. So to say Cal only lost to AV because of miscue’s would be a mistake. In any event your entitled to your opinion. It is frustrating for teams to lose to a team they believe they should beat.

AV’s defense is pretty solid, and thier offense is unpredictable as to whom it might come from on any given night ie…. Stancil, Turay, Banahan, Christensen, Osterholt, Ewanich, Petros etc….

Above all what AV has this year are a group of guys that truely play like a team. No superstars, but a great team.

  49. 2210 Says:

EBAL I am not saying that AV is a bad team I think they are a good team just that they can’t play sloppy like they did against SRV also didn’t Cal fumble in the red zone twice in the 2nd half which helped AV and as far as MV the call at the end of the game speaks for itself, yes AV scored in OT to win it so the deserve it but they have caught some breaks this year is all. Again when playoffs come all will be answered.

  50. renegades10 Says:

jacketfan…watched the DLS-Foothill game at home after i got off work. i don’t have the time to make it out to that many games but i am going to make sure i see the jackets in their first or second playoff game. If they end up where I thought they will at 4 they will probably face Heritage or Newark and they will walk all over them. At 3 prob San Leandro maybe a rematch with Pitt a game I would love to see. At 1 or 2 they will most likely get a bye.

  51. renegades10 Says:

also anyone who doesn’t know, jahvid best was taken to the hospital on oxygen after coming down on his neck while scoring on an unbelievable touchdown catch during the Cal game against Oregon State. Hope that this doesn’t turn into something that threatens his career and wish him a speedy recovery.

  52. donut Says:

2210 you sound like a MV apologist. Your team just didnt get it done and you better hope they do because their post season record the past few seasons is horrible. they get a bye and then cant get past SRV. They better take care of SRV now or never and they wont get far in the playoffs they never do. They can win all the big non league games but they lost fair and square to the PLeasanton Schools and avoided an upset by Cal. Hope they can win the Danville bragging rights cuz they got nothing going for them. all that talent will graduate and then what? consistency.. yes but historically and statistically not much to brag about

    YV won 36-30.

  56. donut Says:

let me remind everybody dont fear the underachieving mustangs

2008 #2 seed bye. second round vs #7 SRV loss 43-36

2007 #4 seed in the old 8 seed 4A format. beat #5 San Leandro 35-13. semifinal loss to De La Salle 50-15.

    2006 #5 seed in 4A. first round loss to #4 SRV 34-7

2005 #2 seed in 4A. perfect season 10-0. first round win vs #7 amador valley 41-7. semifinal 60-42 loss to #3 San Leandro also had perfect season 10-0.

2004 #6 seed. first round loss to #3 De La Salle 35-7.

so pretty much for all of Drew McAllister’s History and Brett Nottingham’s they have not gone far.

on the other hand look across town at SRV. The Wolves won 2004 NCS 3A East Bay championship and 2007 3A Championship over Cardinal Newman. Who else beat the Cardinals? nobody in the North Bay and nobody in the East Bay since.

in 2005 #8 SRV made the 3A semifinals after beating #1 seed Hayward 31-3. loss to #4 Las Lomas 35-28.

in 2006 #4 SRV made the 4A semifinals against De La Salle. The Closest game by any East Bay team (16 points) since San Leandro’s 2005 4A final 14-0.

closest NCS games to DLS , Clayton Valley 17-17 tie in 2004, 21-14 win over California in 2008 equaled by Monte Vista 2009 28-21 seven point loss.

    also to point out facts

    Berkeley in NCS
2004 NCS 4A #7 seed with 8-2 record. losses to 8-2 Foothill 21-7 at home week 2 and 6-4 De Anza team.

against #2 Pittsburg Yellow jackets lost 42-21.

    in the Alonzo Carter Era

2007 Berkeley wins first ACCAL championship outright in a while. #8 seed in 4A with 6-3-1 record. losses to Deer Valley, Foothill, and Logan. tie vs Pinole Valley that never got resolved(could’ve played overtime)

first round vs #1 De La Salle. 59-0 loss.

2008 Berkeley returns with back to back ACCAL titles.
#8 seed in Division 1 with 9-1 record. 35-12 loss to Pittsburg. versus #9 seed Deer Valley 24-20 loss. same team Pittsburg beat 28-21.

    history lesson rewrite the future

  57. jacketfan Says:

donut you got it, they are getting better every year, it’s called progress. I can think of many programs wish they had a coach Carter to run their programs. Building a good program does not happen over nite.

  58. jacketfan Says:

    sorry, i mean night.

  59. bhsfan Says:

donut that league does not have overtime at least that year they tied pinole

  60. 2raw Says:

hayward will get a top 5 seed in d2 this year

  61. donut Says:

true true. we know historys in the making bhsfan and jacket fan im not rooting for any one school im a fan of the best quality competition in nor cal and this year has been exciting progress for sure. ncs will light everything up

  62. donut Says:

even the year they tied pinole they still won outright. times have changed pinole used to be the force now its berkeley rightly so with the real coach carter and that enrollment. lol its true i gotta say they should be in the mix from now on they got good teams.

i am also interested to see how ned, coogler, the qb forget his name, and the other guys with galvin most dont know about but have a lot of playmaking ability in their own right play in NCS.

I for one believe if Berkeley plays San Ramon, Heritage, San Leandro, Newark in the first round if playoffs go to 14 or 16 teams included this year they will win at home over any of those teams. that league title is a factor that helps not because berkeley doesnt play worse on the road but because some other teams do. SRV on the road last year at pittsburg got run over by dargan and bryce flowers. that’ll happen again if they meet any strong running team in ncs. in league cal high and amador are good running teams so they match up better with more teams.

san leandro seems to be balanced passing attack okay rb roberson is good but a good effort on d and if your best defense is a good offense they dont seem to come back that well the pirates.

heritage is not a strong team against better teams. simply put monte vista nd pitt both got out of hand early. newark as well. i think a lot of teams if you score early and often on them they dont do too well catching up.

the teams that seem to be able to hang in there, the foothills, pittsburgs, monte vistas, etc play tougher games at the end. closer yes but good opponents help so any wins down the road will help b-high overcome that unknown not having done before in ncs. they will win i believe and shouldn’t be tested too much until semis or quarters.

i feel a lot of the top seeds will take care of business the first rounds then it will get interesting when the best teams no matter the record play on the field to determine the ’ship

  63. donut Says:

somehow the final eight gotta be, rankings aside, dls, dv, bhigh, pitt, av, mv, cal, and logan. all the most teams with depth and talent and the ability to win the big games.

foothill this year isnt strong i mean they hung in with logan, but thats cuz they play close games down the wire all the way. i dont see san ramon the same way because the passing teams dont have the best all around packages with run defense or run offense.

i think amador beats foothill this year because of that and monte vista beats san ramon. that should make the top 8 what it is and the last 6-8 will have first round games against each other or the top 8 and that’ll sort a lot out

  64. KillerD Says:

I stunk it up in my picks this weekend. Got to love high school football and the wild unpredictabiiity of it.

Looking to rebound with this week’s picks and congrats go out to: YV, Campo, El Cerrito, Sonoma Valley, Monte Vista and James Logan

  65. Wannaknow Says:

Question. I seen Henderson from Pinole Valley a few times this year. Are any schools offering and if so how. i Know his dad but he seems to be mum on the subject.

  66. Big Joe Says:

Mitty san Jose just beat Serra, a very fast team. They are 8-0-1. How do they stack up against Berkeley? The WCAL would surely be a test for BHS. How about scheduling them next few years, San Leandro has and has been soundly beat.

  67. Prep Fan Says:

Serra gave DLS all they could handle this year, but has been very average this season aside from that game. The WCAL is a very good league, right up there with the EBAL – a little better or worse in a given year but both play some great football. Let’s see what the NCS playoffs bring us before scheduling next year’s games. If Berkely wins out and beats DLS in the finals, then maybe they don’t need to beef up their schedule, and the status quo can continue. However, if they find their schedule hasn’t prepared them for the rigors of the NCS playoffs, then maybe they will need to schedule tougher non-league opponents to get them ready.

  68. bhsfan Says:

i think berkeley will take on all comers for non league

  69. Big Joe Says:

BHS should petition to move to the EBAL or BVAL. The BVAL would be a more of a logistic choice. The ACCAL is not going to get much better with BHS having all the talent. The sheer size of BHS enrollment should make a case for this. By the way, BHS has pulled from outside the area for years in all sports, so make no excuses, they have an advanatge over some of the other public schools because of their school district, however other publics are also pulling from outside the areas. BHS pulled track/field, basketball, baseball, football for years. They were pulling back in the ’70’s. Many of those star atheletes did not live in Berkeley. Would not want to list them because of it becoming personal, I played with a lot of them.
The SoCal teams also having doing this for years, especially transfers(Long Beach Poly).

  70. bhsfan Says:

i agree in the past bhs has had kids outside of the district but no all played sports, some parents like the school as a whole, but now they are very strict and have done home visists the past 2 years, i agree about poly too. dls bcuz they a private school pull from all over and lots of those kids parents dont have to pay much of that tuition if any. but it is what it is, cant wait for the playoffs, good to be good in all div 1 thru 5

  71. Jerry Says:

Always wonder if kids playing football at DLS from Antioch, Concord, and other surrounding areas are paying full tuition to go to DLS, or are they getting ’scholarships’?

  72. Because You Asked Says:

Jerry – http://www.dlshs.org/admissions/financial-assistance/index.aspx Check it out for yourself – no where does athletic abilities enter into whether or not a student receives aid. My understanding a third party organization out of the midwest makes the decisions. Personally know 3 students in the locations mentioned and none receive any kind of aid and yes, it is a sacrifice for these parents but they tell me it is worth it.

  73. FootballSmart Says:

It’s recruiting at it’s best. These parents are willing to make the financial sacrifice because they send their kids to DLS with the hopes of getting their kids athletic scholarships in college. They know Lad has the contacts that most public HS coaches don’t and they’re willing to take the risk so they pay the money. Joe Montana sending his kid there was a prime example. But since DLS doesn’t throw much it’s no surprise he took him out of DLS real quick and sent him to a school that passes more. Other good thing is he has the money to be able to do what he did for his son also.

  74. bhsfan Says:

say what u want i went to a private high school for 2 years. and i know people that went to different private schools and some paid little some didnt pay anything, dls is one of the schools included. of course they dont say its scholarship for atheletics, its used for ” academics ” dls is not the only school to do it though.

  75. Mike Says:

bhsfan is right. theres a lottery system sometimes used if you need financial assistance it is available. of course not everybody receives it but those that do arent all athletes. its a balance some kids can be really smart and might get some discounts if they need it. some players might also get some. its not stereotypical. i read in When The Game Stands Tall, they did give financial aid to Cameron Colvin not because he was a good athlete but when he applied to DLS they qualified for it. so it goes more or less like that

  76. Hulkster Says:

I’ve got a question for anyone who might be knowledgeable about refereeing games. Are parents of players allowed to referee their own child’s high school game? If so, why? Wouldn’t that be an obvious conflict of interest? I ask because I have been hearing rumors lately that this occurred at one of last week’s games. If this did indeed occur, what would be the recourse?

    Thanks

  77. Because You Asked Says:

FootballSmart – I think you are misguided. DLS coaches probably do less to help their athletes get scholarships than most other coaches. DLS is team first, individual last and the kids buy into this system when they decide to commit their lives to DLS football and they are asked for this commitment as freshmen. Many play positions that help the team not ones that show off their talents. Would be interested in the name or names of any student, including athletes, who went or are at DLS and do not pay ANY tuition. Bet you can’t supply one. Quoting Cameron Calvin in the book – “Everybody is there for the same reason. Everybody wants to be the best.”

Can you say Maurice Jones-Drew, Amani Toomer, Joe Montana’s son and who ever else that went to DLS that played football there. You going to tell me now they didn’t get scholarships to D1 schools and that playing there didn’t help?

You also going to tell me that the coaches didn’t put in a good word for them when the college recruiters came on campus to talk to Lad in person or on the phone about these kids?

  81. Panther Fan Says:

What are we talking about here?? Why would any of us care why a family chooses one school over another? To protect our own kids from losing an athletic competition to them? That is bizare to me.

As parents we all should try to find the best institution to help prepare our kids for the rest of their lives. The consideration that goes into that decision should be based on many factors (the least of which, frankly, should be athletics). It is a persoanl, family decision and should not be subject to analyis or judgement by ANY ONE outside of the family. None of us are privy to all of the issues that child/family might be facing.

I wouldn’t care about any student/athlete going to any school that offers that child the BEST possiblity of success in the classroom, in life, or in the field of athletic play. Even if that meant my kid lost a game to that school. All I care about is that every kid get the best chance to maximize their abilities and potential. This is not just “talk” from me. My daughter competed against one of the Bay Area’s best female hoop players to come thru this area. My daughter battled against this player for 2 years (winning some and losing some). We knew the girl did not live in the district for the school for which she played. In fact, we knew the girl lived 30 miles away. My daughter would visit her at her house. WE DID NOT CARE ONE BIT! We were happy that she had the great opportunity to play for the good program and attend the great school (not private, by the way).

Kids go where they go. Grow up! Be happy for any kid who gets a chance to have their abilities nurtured.

    Go Panthers! And Go Kids!

Sorry FootballSmart – my error. My comments should have been directed to Bhsfan. My error – please forgive me!!! and I promise to never, ever do that again.

  83. billjohnson Says:

kyle how do u see berkeley doing in the playoffs? they’ve beat pittsburg but so has alot of the top teams in d-1. i think berkeley needs to play teams like foothill, san leandro, wash or logan they match up but if they run in to monte vista, deer valley even a rematch with piit would be tough. don’t think they can score wit monte vista.

  84. Coach Kemp Says:

@”Guru” – yet again, I come on this board and see you putting my name in your mouth yet again. Do you have a man crush or something? Come on now.

Remember when you blatantly lied and said you were with the Berkeley program? Nice work there bro. Quality work.

I have a lot of respect for the achievements of Encinal and a lot of things they have worked to achieve, but they should up their game and get internet trolls like you to put a sock in it.

You come on here with no grammar, with no indication that you have ever done anything solid in your life, with no indication that you have basic respect for the people that work hard every day to help develop young men into positive and productive members of society and you just bash away. You should be proud of that! Real prideful work there.

And you continue to somehow put Wes in the conversation, you should give the Yale Football coaches a call about whether they had an issue with him fumbling when they took him into their program. I don’t even know why I have to address this because it is just amazing that there is someone out there with such lack of character that they feel free to bash away at young people who are trying to become productive members of the world.

Aside from being the guru of whack on the East Bay prep blogs, what do you do? Who are you? Nameless spooks speaking yin yang on this site bring nothing to the table, if you want respect and want to be calling out names with some legitimacy, how about you come out and lay it on the table – who are you? What have you ever done to have a say? And what kind of business are you handling right now?

Lacking that, nothing you have to say really matters.

Seriously, I wish you the best and that you wake up to something positive today and congratulate others for positive achievements rather than trying to kick others and simply bash. You’re either part of the problem or part of the solution and I wish you the wisdom to make some good choices.

Peace and plenty to all good folks on this board who want to see kids reach their life potential now and the future.

  85. ManDown Says:

I agree with you BilJohnson. Berkeley wants to lean on teams and get 50 carries a game to there backs. I don’t know if they can get away with that against some high power teams like Monte Vista or Deer Valley. Those teams will give Berkeley trouble in the playoffs.

  86. ManDown Says:

Guru get lost. Its one thing to have a opinion but its another to come on here just saying crazy things.

  87. All Day Says:

Berkeley has not shown that they have a passing game to go with that outstanding RB Galvin. In the playoffs teams will put 8 in the Box and force B-High to pass. Coach A. Carter I know is thinking about that, so we have to see what kind of game plan he comes up with. I’am sure Pinole will or should try this tatic if they want yo win or be close to winning the game on Friday.

  88. spartan510 Says:

    Coach Kemp,

In your opinion who do you think would win if Berkeley and Encinal played in a game today?

  89. big o Says:

Donut: I don’t know what you’re dunking your donut in!

MV beating cal by 21 points is “avoiding an upset”?

MV losing to NCS Champ DLS in 2004 and 2007 and to Dennis Dixon’s San Leandro team is no disgrace. More a matter of seeding or they might have met in the championship game.

Hats off to SRV for beating MV last year.

But SRV winning Division 3 doesn’t compare since they didn’t have to play the big boys.

  90. big o Says:

    Big Joe:

Add Berkeley? Why not add Pittsburgh or Deer Valley and move out the Livermore schools?

The problem is that the EBAL is already too stacked with 6 playoff teams this year. If you add other perennial playoff teams, the playoffs would be a repeat of the regular season. The regular season would have less meaning except for seeding purposes.

Wouldn’t it be better if the all the leagues had a balance of good teams? That way the league champions would be the top teams deserving to go to the playoffs. That way the regular season means something.

  91. bhsfan Says:

post 77 i dont have to name people and schools like that, i went to a private school 9th and 10th grade and my mom couldnt pay the full tuition, the football coach that recruited me knew that and get my mom hooked up with the right person in the financial dept, i agree with u pantherfan who cares i was just proving a point mainly because renegades10 is so blinded because he is an alum and played for coach lad, lad is a good coach no doubt have to give him his due he has wins, many times against teams with better talent. got to respect winning, but i just dont put them on that they are the best in california, the best in ncs for sure, nobody in ncs has beaten them since 91

and to bill johnson mandown and all day got a news flash everybody has had 8 and 9 men n the box. true an effecient pass game woul make b high offense unstoppable

man down u shouldnt say monte vista lol they cant stop the run at all, one player alone ran for 398, galvin is the best back in the area what u think he would do

  92. ROEPER Says:

Coach Kemp did you say “spooks”. Well, well, well…

  93. old former meddling coach. Says:

Coach Kemp,I really hope you didn’t mean spooks as a racial slur, If you mean to say Ghost or Ghosts that is what you should have wrote. It looks bad. Jet Pride!

  94. old former meddling coach. Says:

Also Coach Kemp, I think the statements of anyone including me shouldn’t reflect on Encinal High School or it’s Football program. These are only Opinions in most cases. Wes is at Yale so he must be and must have done something right,Right? These are words, nothing more and no one should let anyone else anger them to the point of saying things they might not mean. Jet Pride!

  95. lb050nit Says:

    Coach Kemp,

I guess Encinal will have to post that one in their weight room all year long. During the spring time and throughout the summer.

  96. Coach Kemp Says:

I meant spooks as in individuals who post things anonymously as in spies. I definitely DID NOT mean it in any racial sense and I apologize to ANY who took it that way.

  97. Coach Kemp Says:

I want to WHOLEHEARTEDLY REITERATE that I did NOT mean that term in any racial sense and I was not even aware that in any way had any potential racial connotations to that word.

I swear on my recently passed grandfather’s grave that I did not mean that in any racial manner.

I have friends, family and even my future wife who are of different races and I am 100% against any racially motivated negative thinking. So I just want to 100% clarify that to anyone who took my words in a manner that I did not mean.

  98. Coach Kemp Says:

@spartan510: both of those teams are very good teams with size, speed and physical players who play with smarts and are well coached.

I could not say who I think would win that match up, but I can say it would be a damn good game that I am sure many people would love to see.

  99. old former meddling coach. Says:

Coach Kemp, We all can see that Guru rides you like Lone Ranger rode Silver.. But don’t let it bug you. U had to see how Knights was on me for a lil bit. Just let it slide off your back like water off a duck. Glad to see it was not like we thought it was. Jet Pride!

  100. guru-black Says:

in the words of t.o looks like a rat smells like a rat must be …..

  101. Coach Kemp Says:

@OFMC: thanks sir, if the guru had the respect level and general way you show, I’d be good with chopping it up on football, past, present, future with him any day. He clearly feels as though he has a lot of knowledge of my history and related topics.

@Guru: I meant spy, brother. Even though you don’t appear to wish me the same, I wish you the best and maybe one day we can have a beer and talk football without any level of disrespect. I still do not know who you are, but I am seriously here for the kids of all backgrounds of any sort and I enjoy the game of football and want to see all our East Bay youth rise to the occasion and bring back pride to the area.

  102. donut Says:

LOL bhsfan is right. if MV can’t stop Ward…..

and Big O ROGER SMITH whatever you is

    child PLEASE

Monte Vista throw out the prior to 05 stuff. That 05 team was not Dennis Dixons. and they had no way to lose 60 points at home thats just bad defense. over hyped

and okay since 06, 07 08 are a big deal to you? bad seeds? or they just couldnt take care of business with a better team in SRV? SRV played with the Big Boys, Namely YOU and still made the SEMIFINALS in 08 against PITT. saying you beat Pitt and we didn’t is a VALID POINT. you are RIGHT there sir. however they beat you guys head to head 4 out of 5 times in two years and that is unacceptable if you want to PLay With the Big Boys. Cant even Beat a former 3A team lOL. doesnt even matter tho, since they’re all Div 1 see what you can do in the playoffs..

somebody try to stop rickey stop, but all rickey does is run all over you. run defense run LOL MV cant stop nobody and SRV either. im no fan of any teams nutts but i can tell you that certain things are undeniable facts and my opinion is funny pointing that out.

08 remember you had a BYE and didnt get past the first round. this is in 12 team format not the 8 team format in 06. still couldnt get past the 2nd round then.

not to disrespect you if your a fan of that team but this year break the habit is all im saying. and lukcy if you dont get berkeley because their fans are right tellin everybody with bad run defenses, dont matter if your accal or bval or ebal they’ll run you over. SRV wont be able to stop them either. the only teams that might fair well are Cal with their good scheme and trio of backs. AV might also compete but their too slow and i can tell you reggie davis is as fast as those b high players. the whole team might not be but a db as fast as the opposing star is good odds either way in my book

  103. renegades10 Says:

bhsfan- i’m not sure what point you were proving to me. i haven’t even posted on this thread for a few days. yes i went to DLS and obviously i am loyal to them but that doesn’t stop me from being able to acknowledge other good teams or players. Yes B-High is good as I said earlier and yes Galvin is good as I have said earlier, but again the same thing i am hearing the jacket fans is the same thing i heard from the pirate fans last year. I haven’t seen the Jackets play and as I said I am going to make sure I get out to one of their early playoff games. Since I haven’t seen them play in person all I can go on is the numbers. Don’t forget that I was one of the people who defended B-High’s non-league scheduling by pointing out the fact that those teams had been good previous years.

  104. guru-black Says:

kemp i’ve been talkin trash yes but it’s all bout football. i’ve stated my opinion but mostly facts & you play the race card. answer my question wat makes you guys a playoff team besides they open da field to 16!? without playin de anza richmond & hercules u guys would have 2 wins. you’ve lost to every quality team you’ve played!
