moellerman:

Renaud is an excellent player, but I wouldn't say he's easily the best in the EBAL. I think MV's Wilkerson is arguably at the top. This year he doesn't have a sturdy line in front of him and has had to it on his own, including playing D-line and even running back. He's the type of player coaches plan around.

Whomever you like, there are some amazing athletes out there.

925:

Great post. Too often bloggers are trying to spin/win their teams instead of simply enjoying some of the most entertaining football anywhere.

The MV-SRV rivalry is one of the great ones and it takes two great teams to make it. Win or lose, the boys on both teams really give it all they have.

Lad has said Renaud is one of the best linebackers to come through his program. given some of the guys that Lad has coached that is a big compliment.

Having seen DLS three times this year (twice live, once on TV) I have to say how impressed I am with number 10, inside linebacker, Renaud. I know the front four created all sorts of problems for Foothill, but I think Renaud is the guy who makes the defense tick. For my money, easily the best linebacker in the EBAL.

Joe Southwick wanted to win and play in BCS games so he chose Boise State. He had Pac-10 offers, Washington State full ride was the biggest, but he didnt want to lose at any team in a big conference rather win and bust the BCS with BSU like Utah did in 08 sugar bowl.

Corbin Louks went to Utah because they recruited him, and he was a part of that Sugar Bowl team. However Corbin transfered to Nevada because they recruited two other QB's, the top NJCAA player and a true freshmen from San Diego who both beat him on the depth chart.

Sam Keller went to ASU but got hurt and ended up transfering to Nebraska. He would've been drafted but he got hurt his senior season and fell off the map. Ended up on an AFL team in LA but that league folded and aside from NFL training camp invites nothing much happened.

An ironic thing is when the Raiders signed Keller to pracitce squad and the 49ers signed Kyle Wright lol then cut both and Wright has gone back to MV helping coach and tutor Brett Nottingham. Dunno where Kellers at. The current QB Chirs Comes at SRV isnt a D-I recruit like the others so unlike MV the great one doesnt need to come back and mentor him.

Im not sure Keller ever did for Southwick, Joe had pretty much a lot going for himself, although being two years apart from Corbin they probably talked and stuff. Other key guys from SRV who are D-I now are RB Roy Helu Jr at Nebraska another possible draft candidate next year or two, lineman Zach Madonick is at Nevada where Louks recently transfered to after losing the starting job at Utah.

As for complete list
it was Keller 00-03 I believe
Hunter Flynn replaced Keller in 2004 season and SRV won an NCS 3A East Bay title. Flynn went to JC Grossmont-San Diego playing there for the 2005 season before leaving football after that.
in 2005 season junior Corbin Louks became the starter and his senior season in 2006. Louks graduated in 2007.
in 2007 season junior Joe Southwick took over for graduated Louks and SRV continued success until Southwick graduated in 2009.
the 2009 season Chris Comes senior QB backed up Southwick previous season. leading SRV to a moderate record currently 6-3 better than expectations were because of all the talent they graduated.

at Monte Vista
it was Kyle Wright 2000-2002 seasons. Wright graduated in 2003 same class as Sam Keller.
the 2003 season and 2004 season im not sure who was the QB. i believe it was the 2005 season when sophomore Drew McAllister became the starter, because he was a 3 year varsity starter until his graduation in 2008.
and in the 2008 season junior Brett Nottingham came on the scene and put up ridiculous numbers. continued as the starter in 2009 season. he's a 2010 graduate.

dont know about the future but the past is pretty rich. i remember the days i was at SR watching mcallister and louks battle it out, then mcallister's senior season beat southwick, then southwick's senior year got back at nottingham, then nottingham comes is the current match up.

i believe soph McAlliser went 1-0 in 2005 making jr Louks 0-1.
Sr Louks went 2-0 including NCS in 2006 to make it 2-1 Louks vs McAllister.
As a senior McAllister in 2007 evened his record 2-2 against SRV, while giving newcomer Southwick a 0-1 record in the Danville crosstown match.
Southwick evened his record to 1-1 his senior season in 2008, while newcomer Brett Nottingham started 0-1.
in 2009, the first year I recall since 2002 Keller/Wright were both the same class, Senior Nottingham goes against Senior Comes, but Nottingham is the much more heralded of the two, and I think he evens out his record against SRV. lol. its a fun match to watch and looking at all the history and individual accomplishments its never a boring game lol

2005 my freshmen year MV blasted SRV 49-7.
2006 SRV won for the first time in like 8 years they said 21-17. repeated the performance in NCS 34-7 over MV
2007 MV came back to win 20-14 after being down 14-0.
2008 another repeat year for SRV. 26-7 in the regular season, and again in NCS 43-36.
this year might sway back toward MV given their better skill players including RB, QB, LB, and WR but always a close or not so close match, lol either way a lot of fun seeing 7 or 8 thousand people crowding a packed stadium 4+ deep all around the fences around the field

De La handles another pre- Pac 10 QB, very little passing yds. in the second half. His yds. in the first half went against a 3 man DB field. Dropped 4 in the second, result, 2 picks. DLS pass rush was huge.
The EBAL is putting QB's and receivers in major college ball at an alarming rate. They might be small and slow according to the " experts", but the scouts say otherwise. SR, MV, Foothill and others got QB's all over the coast and other parts of the country. San Ramon alone put the last 3 or 4 QB's in Div 1 schools. Cal should have taken a shot at some of these guys rather than go out of state.

Yes big ups to MV. I thought that Cal would run all over their D. Seem to be finding their form at the right time. Logan's win over Washington and MV's win over Cal I think will get the Mustangs a five seed if they win out. Of course next week three big league games and anything could happen.

Great game by the MV Mustangs looks like they were the more physical team in the end, wore down the Grizzlies. Big props to Nottingham, McGovern, Wilkerson, and Sullas really the whole offense they just looked hungrier than Cal at the end of the game plus the Defense stepped up huge 189 on 46 carries for Cal (held them under 200 who thought that was going to happen) GREAT JOB MV D.

DLS leading at half only 13-7. Lots of penalties for the Spartans and refs helped Foothill's td. Foothill attempted a fg and kicker shanked it bad but good acting on part of kicker got a running into penalty and next play Foothill scored. Even tv guys looked at it in slo-mo and said the kicker must be taking some acting classes. Ward over a hundred yards with two scores thanks in large part to a 95 yard td run. Mannion 15-19 for 114 yards or so. Only two throws were downfield all the others have been little screen plays that have caught the Spartans off guard. DLS scored about a minute before half but botched snap on extra point. Foothill gets the ball to start 2nd half.
