i can’t wait n 2 years when washington st. plays cal i hope all these boys from the bay are on the field slappin up tedford. i hope they play san jose st. too they don’t have any boyz from the east bay either or atleast not enough. it’s seems like all bay area football players have to go up north to wash, oregon, boise no love in da bay from cal. go cougars!

Why is that? Too much talent in the Bay Area.

Billjohnson – Amen brother. I agree, and I am a fan of Cal and SJSU. It just seems like they have missed on some local talent.

Panther Fan, more than missed.Especially S.J. State not being a major D-1 program along with Sac. State,Cal-Poly SLO,UC-Davis,and Humbolt St.

All Day – I agree. I don’t know what the issue is. It is crazy to me how places so far away express interest in our East Bay athletes, but the schools who are in their same league (literally) ignore them.

The smaller schools is what intrigues me the most, because there is alot of talent in the Bay for these schools to choose from. That why it is up to us Panther Fan to help promote these young men to these schools and make them be aware of who they are.
November 9th, 2009 at 11:58 am
All Day – I agree again. I would do anything to be a part of that kind of “promotion.” That is why I have tried to mention so many different names of good young players on this blog. It probably doesn’t make much difference, but at least it puts their names in cyberspace.
I just want to commend the tone and content of your posts All Day. You are always so reasonable and positive. I am getting worn down from the negativity. It just has no place on a site designed to CELEBRATE our young people and the adults who work so hard to try to assist them in reaching their potential.
We need more posters like you Sir.
Thanks.

In terms of the SJSU discussion, I think they should look more at kids here in nor cal then focusing solely on so cal kids. This you can also apply to Cal as well.
November 9th, 2009 at 12:32 pm
Spartan510 – Do you have any ideas on why they do focus on the Socal kids? Is Norcal viewed as not having good talent? I know Socal has more kids, but is the Bay not respected?

Panther Fan goto a schools athletic or football website get their head football coach and position coaches e-mail and phone#(if listed)e-mail will be listed for sure. Also fill athletic questionaire or recruiting questionaire very important. Also some will list who their Recruiting Coordinator e-mail also.Get game DVD together and start sending out to schools. Some schools target certain geographical areas as you may already know Wash St.(Bay Area), Eastern Wasshington also likes Bay Area talent. Howard University is looking to make a move in the Bay, Utah St. usually loves Bay Area skill position student-athletes.Keep me posted

All Day – Good info. Really. School are coming around for DBR now. I just hope all of the other good players flying under the radar are getting some love too.
But really, thanks for trying to help. If I had tape on all those other kids, I would send it for sure.

SJSU likes to target JC players and transfer students, nothing wrong with that execpt not alot from the Bay. Kyle Reed (Mack H.S. Oakland execption plus I’am sure there are others.) Tomey is SJSU’s head coach and to me he is not a good recruiter. Good talent from S.J to Scramento that major programs don’t go after that can fall in his lap and he neglects to go after these young men too.

Panther Fan, Is N. Lovett getting some looks? Excellent talent along with DBR.
November 9th, 2009 at 1:10 pm
Hi Panther! Did I have anything to do with those looks? LOL. Just kidding. That’s good news. Has he starting leaning towards a particular school yet?
November 9th, 2009 at 1:40 pm
All Day – Najee is a talent. He is a special player. Yes, I believe he is getting some looks, as he should. I expect more schools will continue to reach out to Najee.
Fox – Yes! All the schools have said that they heard of DBR from Fox and Guru. Lol. No favorite yet. Every day more options so we are taking our time. Thanks for your continued interest

SJSU seems to really enjoy recruiting so cal kids, the reason why I have no idea. But it seems that the talent they bring in isn’t doing the job in the wac. I emailed Dick Tomey about Jonathan Brown but it seemed that went on deaf ears and now jon will play the spartans once a year at boise. On the jc note, SJSU brings in very few players (3 this year) from that level. But the ones they do bring in are pretty good, ie Avery and Mojo this year. Cal, on the other hand looses many prospects to schools like Oregon, OSU, Fresno State, Boise State and other programs.

yeah i think the Cal Tedford teams go nationally for talent and that includes out of state and a lot of socal.
what doesnt make sense is that they do lose a lot of backyard talentand hurts them. they did get jahvid best thank god. he is a heismen candidate for crying out loud you cant miss that. our prayers are with him as he recovers. it is a shame though, but fresno does recruit well star players like logans rashad evans from the 2007 season (graduated 08)
i do have an intersting theory that UC Berkely doesnt favor the EBAL well, because a few years ago they had a lot of MV recruits, WR Sam Desa, RB Peter Geurts, some others i dont remember that didnt pan out.
they also lost Drew McAllister to USC. Cal HS linebacker Nick Rosato is the last EBAL player im familiar with that got offered to Cal.
now the rest of the Pac-10 is hitting home runs with their East Bay products especially. looking across the bay at Stanford, WR Ryan Whalen from MV is the most successful mustangs player currently in NCAA in my opinion. McAllister backs up taylor mays and doesnt start much, but Whalen is a starter and a heck of a talent showing everyone who saw him in HS how good he is.
Oregon has a ton of DLS players. Terron Wards older brother TJ is a starting safety for them, they had Cameron Colvin a few years ago, they have Pittsburg guys Bryce Flowers, etc.
Oregon St has Sean Mannion-Foothill.
UCLA has Brett Nottingham-MV
AZ has Kylan Butler-DLS
AZST might have a couple i havent heard much about Dennis Erickson recruiting East Bay guys much.
Washington has Oak Tech DiAndre Campbell
but man oh man has Wash St really cranked it up this year. Rickey Galvin-Berkeley, Robert Jiles, Tracy Clark, all from Pittsburg Erick Dargan -Pittsburg has visited Wasu and Oregon so he has to make a choice.
a lot of great players going on to the Pac 10 and Cal for some reason is looking at SoCAl for what> perception that its better.. or something idk.

Mike,
Good post but theres a few extra additional points to make.Cal got a verbal from the MV middle linebacker and washington also recruited a runningback from mack a few years ago. This also brings me to Wasu who also recruited encinal’s Duckett.
