Really bad div 3 team is pretty harsh. Div 3 is the best league in NCS. Logan beating Castro Valley
doesn’t show on Max prep but I will trust you on that. So Logan 9-9 ver Div 1 but 2-4 again lower Div.
So much for that div 1 argument. Encinal moved into BSAL which is the most competitive league in the east bay west of the tunnel.

Encinal lost to berkeley 19-7 2007 Encinal’s Last year in the Accal. They moved to semi finals of the Div playoffs. lasherya that was 2 yrs ago and jets were in the Accal. Jet Pride!

Right, Berkeley beat Encinal, a really bad Division III team. That isn’t a good win. But you are right, Berkeley lost to good teams for the most part, but losses to good teams don’t really matter and wins against playoff teams from lesser divisions doesn’t matter much either especially when they are league wins, and against teams that earned the No. 11 seed and No. 13 seed in their respective divisions.
Logan has more than one good win. They beat Washington, a Division I playoff team, and Castro Valley, a Division I playoff team.
You might have an argument with San Leandro, but they have a win over a Division I team that Berkeley does not.

Berkeley did beat Encinal out of league. All their losses were to teams in playoffs.
Losses were too good teams. Logan has one good win in league. San Leandro has no good wins.
Berkeley beat 2 teams in playoffs in other divisions. Berkeley has received votes in CC coaches polls. I am not saying they should be in the top 8 but shouldn’t be last.Division 1 wins against week teams should count more than winning league. Why do
You think they stop lower division team from moving to div 1.

No, I agree they probably are seeded correctly. I just thought they would host, they beat absolutley nobody outside of there league.

Well, I’m not Jimmy, but I am the guy who has covered and written about volleyball all season. I can probably answer your question. The hosting thing has been cleared up. Had Berkeley been faced against a non-league champ, it would have hosted despite the lower seed. But MSJ won the MVAL. As for Logan being seeded higher than Berkeley, it has to do with the schedule. Berkeley played in a league that was not very good, and Logan played in a league that was surprisingly tough. I saw a number of MVAL matches this year and can tell you that MSJ, Irvington and Washington are good.
Berkeley had just one win outside of league, and did not beat a Division I team this year, while Logan was 9-9 against Division I opponents.
I think Lisa Young is doing a great job and is getting the program going the right direction, and I think there is a lot of talent there, but she’d probably agree and tell you that they are seeded around where she would expect.

I can toatally understand a low seeding for Berkeley they didnt win a match outside of league but I just assumed a league champ would be hosting the first round, like in basketball I know higher seeds sometime have to travel when playing a league champ. But oh well I was hoping to be able to go but I wont be able to make that one.

Yeah, Mission San Jose is the league champ for the MVAL, and is a tough matchup for the Yellowjackets. If Berkeley played in more tournaments during the season and demonstrated they can hang with the MVAL, EBAL and BVAL teams, they would have a chance at better a better seeding. It is kind of like the arguments in football of basketball about teams who haven’t played anybody. Most of the other teams have played a lot of games against each other in league or tourneys and can show some victories over good teams.
