NCS Division III playoff projections

By Jimmy Durkin
Saturday, November 14th, 2009 at 7:27 pm in Uncategorized.

Here’s my breakdown of NCS Division III. We’ll see how close I come when the seedings are announced tomorrow.

The following are the eligible teams I consider locks:

ACALANES 5-5, 4-2 DFAL
ALHAMBRA 9-1, 6-0 DFAL
ANALY 6-4, 2-4 SCL
CAMPOLINDO 5-5, 3-3 DFAL
EL CERRITO 7-3, 5-1 ACCAL
ENCINAL 9-1, 7-0 BSAL
FORTUNA 7-3, 4-2 HDNL-Big 4
HEALDSBURG 6-4, 3-2 SCL
MARIN CATHOLIC 9-1, 7-0 MCAL
NOVATO 7-3, 6-1 MCAL
PIEDMONT 6-4, 4-3 BSAL
TAMALPAIS 7-2, 4-2 MCAL

I consider these three to be probable:
KENNEDY – FREMONT 4-6, 2-4 MVAL, 2-1 Div. III — Play mostly Div. I competition and nearly beat Logan last night
MIRAMONTE 4-6, 2-4 DFAL, 3-2 Div. III — Have a win over a Campo team that is in
BISHOP O’DOWD 3-5-1, 3-3 HAAL, 0 games against Div. III — Exclusively played games from higher divisions and still qualified.

And finally my bubble teams:

MOREAU CATHOLIC 4-6, 3-4 BSAL, 2-2 Div. III
TERRA LINDA 4-6, 2-4 MCAL, 4-3 Div. III
SONOMA VALLEY 4-6, 2-4 SCL, 3-2 Div. III
DEL NORTE 3-6, 2-4 HDNL-Big 4, 2-2 Div. III

My first task is to eliminate Del Norte with its 3-6 record.

MOREAU CATHOLIC 4-6, 3-4 BSAL, 2-2 Div. III
TERRA LINDA 4-6, 2-4 MCAL, 4-3 Div. III
SONOMA VALLEY 4-6, 2-4 SCL, 3-2 Div. III
DEL NORTE 3-6, 2-4 HDNL-Big 4, 2-2 Div. III

Then I eliminate Sonoma Valley because of its head to head loss to Terra Linda.

MOREAU CATHOLIC 4-6, 3-4 BSAL, 2-2 Div. III
TERRA LINDA 4-6, 2-4 MCAL, 4-3 Div. III
SONOMA VALLEY 4-6, 2-4 SCL, 3-2 Div. III

Finally, I judge between Moreau and Terra Linda. Terra Linda has a win over a playoff eligible team in Sonoma Valley, which is something Moreau cannot say. However, Terra Linda hasn’t beaten a team with a winning record, just like Moreau has not. The difference is all of Moreau’s losses came to teams with winning records, including the likely No. 1 seed in this bracket and the likely Nos. 2 and 6 seeds in Division IV. Moreau played a much tougher schedule than Terra Linda, which has bad losses to 2-win teams in Redwood and San Marin. That, I think, is what gets Moreau the final berth.

Here’s my crack at seedings:

1. Encinal
2. Marin Catholic
3. Alhambra
4. Novato
5. El Cerrito
6. Tamalpais
7. Piedmont
8. Healdsburg
9. Fortuna
10. Acalanes
11. Campolindo
12. Analy
13. Bishop O’Dowd
14. Miramonte
15. Kennedy-Fremont
16. Moreau Catholic

  1. Mike Says:

Thanks Jimmy D. This is great. Although did Miramonte play a tougher schedule than Bishop O’Dowd?

Matadors beat Antioch by a touchdown, and beat Campolindo, but lost to Dublin. Bishop O’Dowd lost to Skyline and barely beat Arroyo and Castro Valley. I think Miramonte had a slightly better season than O’Dowd. So I’d reverse them, but this is perfect you betcha.

  2. Mike Says:

JFK’s loss to American hurts them so 15 instead of 14 is also spot on.

  3. knights Says:

With the exception of Dougherty Valley, all of Alhambra’s wins are against playoff teams. Benicia will make SJS and South SF will make CCS playoffs. Suddenly, the loss to College Park doesn’t seem that bad anymore.
Since there is no common opponents between MC, EHS, and AHS, I would like to propose these questions to our readers (and hopefully the seeding committee):
DISCLAIMER: I really am just sparking conversation, I think highly of the Jets and Wildcats – along with each coach, respectively. Stay away from Coach or player bashing, please.
    Of the three teams;
    1. Who has the best win, and why?
    2. Who has the worst loss, and why?
    3. Who has the toughest schedule?
    4. Who plays in the toughest league?
    5. …
    6. …

  4. knights Says:

Oops, add Dublin to the list of non-playoff teams AHS has played.

  5. Moreau Fan Says:

Man, I REALLY hope Moreau gets into the field. It would be a great reward for a team that just last year was 0-10 and would mean the world to that program. If you look at their season, they can make a strong argument. Their losses are all to teams that are either likely in the playoffs (Encinal, Piedmont, San Lorenzo, St. Mary’s and St. Patrick/St. Vincent) or are a league co-champion (Galileo), and every one of those teams finished with a winning record. Their wins come against teams with a better winning percentage than Terra Linda, Bishop O’Dowd and Kennedy (which is far and away the worst at 6-34). And they’re the only team among those that don’t have a bad loss on their record. I’m hoping that they get in and manage to avoid an Encinal rematch!

  6. HS Football Fan Says:

    Knight, taking your four questions:

1 – Who has the best win and why?

Calpreps would say that the best wins for each team are:

    Alhambra over Benicia
    Encinal over St. Mary’s
    Marin Catholic over Novato

Of those three, Novato’s the highest rated team.

2 – Who has the worst loss and why?

    College Park over Alhambra
    Serra over Encinal
    St. Ignatius over Marin Catholic

Calpreps has College Park as the worst of those losses.

3 – Who has the toughest schedule?

    Alhambra 9.7
    Encinal 3.6
    Marin Catholic 6.1

Calpreps says Alhambra’s schedule is rated the toughest.

4 – Who plays in the toughest league?

    BSAL 2.5
    DFAL 8.2
    MCAL 3.6

Calpreps says the DFAL is rated the toughest.

Now, here’s the thing. The seedings will largely be determined by the rankings of the D-III coaches. Jimmy Durkin’s talked to some of them, and the majority of them list Encinal as their top ranked team. So, we can all argue until the cows come home, but the likely outcome is that Encinal’s going to be the #1 seed and Marin Catholic’s going to be the #2 seed. This really won’t have much of an effect in the first round, since all three will probably play 4-6 teams. The difference between facing a 6-8 seed in the second round is probably not that much of a difference, either, so the big thing will be where the semifinals are played (since all three are league champions). The #3 seed will have to travel to the #2 seed.

  7. PERKIN Says:

Get off CalPreps & think for your self. Serra is Best loss. EC is a better win then Novato. With the Pinole win over the 5th best team in the Bay things change. The Alameda win is bigger. Already stated the same for EC now league champ which Novato isn’t. ST. Mary’s is the #1 seed in D1 in my opinion. St. Pats 7-3 play-off team. Piedmont play-off team, Moreau play-off team. This is all my opinion.

B-High losing to Pinole easily skyrockets EHS to unquestioned #1.

  8. Bob Says:

HS-Football…Thanks for the breakdown. It was done without malice.

I think the first 4 are set, as said above. I’m real curious about who they play in the first round since the bottom 4 have questions to address.

  9. calpreps hater Says:

    calpreps, is hella fake.

  10. Bleacher Coach Says:

Perkins you are smoked if you think EC is a better win than Novato. The BSAL ACCL and the MCAL are weak leagues knowing that and trying to make a push for return to a bowl game coach Brackett over at Novato put his club up against 3 very tuff non-league teams in Foothill Palo Cedro , Foothill Pleasanton and Oakdale. The Hornets losses are to 3 quality teams they coudl just as easly be 9-1 like the 3 teams above them. The big differance is that is they had won those preseason games the would be a very serious contender to return to Carson the Jets on the other hand have NO let me repeat NO CHANCE of getting picked even if they repeat ass NCS DIV III Champs so I guess the goals are just different. Novato has been there before Encinal has not Novato is just not happpy winning the NCS Div III title

  11. kickinman Says:

jimmy do you think there is goin to be a big surprise today when they seed the teams?

  12. PERKIN Says:

#6 your taking the overall strenghth of the league based on CalPreps which still has Kennedy Richmond in it. They forfeited their season they shouldn’t count in the overall strenght of a league.

  13. Jimmy Durkin Says:

    Kickinman.
In this field, I’d almost expect there to be some surprises, considering we have a couple teams bunched up there at the end at 4-6. Personally, I think it’s pretty clear cut that Moreau deserved to get in as the last seed, but a lot of unknown factors could come into play there. Same could be said for the top seed since three teams are 9-1. Although, as many know that I’ve stated often, I truly believe coaches rankings will carry a lot of weight and I can’t see the majority of coaches not ranking Encinal No. 1 and that’s a statement a fellow Division III playoff coach agreed with me on. We’ll see. I’ll be excited to see the field released.

  14. Coach63a Says:

    Jimmy,

How are the coahes going to rank teams when they aren’t in the room and they don’t know who is applying? Are they being asked to list the top 16 teams on their application?

  15. Coach63a Says:

Nevermind Jimmy, I went out to the NCS site to answer my own question and the coaches are being asked to rank the top 10 in their division. Of your 12 locks I wouldn’t consider Tam, Acalanes, Piedmont, or Analy in the top 10.

  16. KillerD Says:

This morning is the Most exciting dawn of the year for me – other than Christmas, and it reminds me the most of that pre-Christmas feeling of tremendous excitement and incredible anticipation!

For years and years, our staff would look forward to driving over to Las Lomas, getting there early enough to have coffee and breakfast across the street at Emil Villa’s.

It was fun to enter that excellent restaurant, smell the grilled food, and see familiar faces from the high school football coaching world, most of them wearing colorful hats or sweatshirts representing their school: Las Lomas, Eureka, Cardinal Newman, DLS, BOD, San Leandro, McKinleyville, Del Norte, Encinal, Washington, Novato, and the list went on.

One always interesting observation was witnessing the “cool and confident coaches” who already knew their team was in the playoffs, contrasted by the “bleary eyed, exhausted and tense” coaches who hadn’t slept much, and whose team’s were on the Bubble, not knowing if their season was going to extend at least one more week, or if it would suddenly be time for equipment turn in on that Monday.

Low-level banter and each coaching group’s table top playoff predictions could be heard once in a while above the clatter in the restaurant, and some whispers by other coaches of “Their team ain’t getting in this year, I don’t know why he even showed up?” or “They’re a Lock at the number Two or Three seed” were to be relied upon annualy.

For Today, are there going to be surprises at the NCS football playoff selection and seeding meeting?

I hope there are some good surprises and exciting first-round match ups.

But, I will always miss the old days on the mornings at Las Lomas and Emil Villas, it had become a great experience, but this ain’t too bad either.

    Let the Games Begin!

  17. PERKIN Says:

Novato embarrassed Nothern Cali in the bowl game by losing to a slow small team. That same team the next year minus a RB lost to Encinal.I SCHEDULED 3 GOOD TEAMS TRYING TO GET TO STATE. & lost. Real impressive. There league is really the worst around. 2 good teams. Thats it.

Encinal beats Serra I believe they would have had a shot. But they didn’t. EVen if they beat Serra things have to happen that aren’t in control if Encinal. Serra would have to go deep. EC would have to go deep St. Mary’s would have to damn near win D-IV ect…ect..

  18. Bleacher Coach Says:

Perkin you are not very well informed. There was nothing embarrassing about Novato’s loss to Oceanside the final was 28-14 and Novatos QB had his ankle broken in the series right before halftime. Do to poor medical treatment it was missed and he played the whole second half on a broken ankle. Second you should look at post No.6 it shows that the BSAL is the worst league of the 3. I will tell you what is embarrassing it is the street thugs in football uniforms who are trying to start fights on the football field. The Jets have been hit with atleast 25 unsportsman like conduct penalties this year for fighting and cheapshots not to metion the trash talking there was one game when Number 32 got flagged 3 times for running his mouth and the coach just lets him play or how about the fact that the whole team comes on to the field for the coin toss to try and intimidate a 4-5 team. Now thats embarrassing.

  19. EastBayJ Says:

Those chiming about the marin league being better than the bsal are wrong.

Marin league is down this season compared to the bsal.

  20. lb050nit Says:

Bleacher Coach, is Calpreps your Daddy? Stop riding it then. If your a man, then act like one. If not then continue to be a, computer nerd.

  21. MURDOC Says:

El Cerrito is a league champion 4 seed. St. Mary’s is a 1/2 seed (should be a 1 seed), Piedmont is a playoff team, Moreau Catholic is a playoff team.

    Nailhouse lost to Serra.
Marin Catholic lost to St. Ignatious.
    Serra beat St. Ignatious.
    Serra is the best loss.
Novato overmatched non league schedule (foothill was a good game).
    Foothill Cedra Pedro (who?).
    Novato 5 seed.

  22. MURDOC Says:

Novato is weak got beat badly in state. It was pretty embarrassing. If your sending a team to state. SEND ATHLETES. SEND SPEED. We keep losing because they send slow team like Novato that aren’t physical. Cardinal Newman, De La every year except 2007. Look at Grant. athletes.

Encinal played them without there 2nd best player & still beat them. They play full strength its a skunk. Almost was they were up 14-0 almost took a obvious screen to the house. The whites at Novato definitely don’t get messed with by officials. Encinal all minority staff. Players with dredds. Yeah its called prejudice.

You sound real square good ole boy Bleacher Coach. You’d be quick to flag those black kids too huh? I know black people are some of your best friends. Novato has one & one Samoan.

  23. THE CAMP Says:

    Damn bleacher fan thats true.

  24. THE CAMP Says:

Bleacher fan, If Novato wanted in then they should have scheduled Foothill (I agree), Grant, Mitty, De La, Bellermine, Serra, Cal, Berkeley, San Leandro. Not teams nobody has ever heard of. Novato was hiding. Tried to sneak in through the back door. But the door was locked. State recognized Novato’s bullsh!t

  25. Bleacher Coach Says:

LOL you guys crack me up, computer nerd lol Iam at the games. This years Jet team is no where near last years team. I love how you guys gloss over and ignore the real points and lash out with non-factual insults but ok. So here are some more FACTS Novato played 2 DIV I teams and went 1 and 1 , 1 DIV II, 6 DIV III 3 and 1 DIV IV team hmm now lets look at the Jets they played 1 DIV 1 team and lost LOL to a 5-5 team. 1 DIV II team 4 DIV III teams and 3 lol 3 DIV IV. Marin Catholic should be the 1 seed but because of last season the Jets will get the nod. Murdoc what are you talking about Berkerey is the ACCL champ EL Cerrito is 5 or 6 at best and either team they play has a chance to beat them they are not that good look what Encinal did to them lol

  26. MURDOC Says:

Talk about coward after Novato lost its State bowl hopes with a week one blow out(Its really was worse then the score I was there) against Valley Christian, THEY DROP THEM! That game against VC was taking care of business. 2 state bowl caliber teams that are handling on the field. But Novato found out what they found out in Dublin. THEY CAN’T COMPETE WITH SPEED & ATHLETES!

So Brackett runs to play a team from San Pedro(where???) & say they’re good. But don’t worry SUPERMAN IS HERE!!! Bleacher Coach will just go to Cal Preps & save the day. Du, du,duuuunn. They’re good cuz they’re rated good. How’s this for ratings snapper head. Encinal was rated 30.5 & went down to 28.0 for gettin a forfeit win. Real logical.

  27. MURDOC Says:

Tha Marin league is a total joke get off of D-II, D-III, that means nothing players are players teams are teams. That league is a total farce. Tamapais, 7-3 heh. Non league wins over Kennedy Richmond & Galileo. Get real.

& this years Novato team is really no where near last years team. 5 yard out is all they throw. Great WR & can’t get him the ball. I really do hope that EHS & Novato play this year. Cuz yeah, you will have to drive through black neighborhoods to get there. It will be in the Swamp & at night where the stars shine. Not your weak Saturday after noon cook outs.

  28. Bleacher Coach Says:

again just because you guys are not very well informed dont be a hater the staff aat Novato scheduled potential Div II bowl teams from different section for the head to head match ups. Now stay with me because I know it is hard for you guys so I will gooooooo slowwww lol. Foothill Palo Cedro is from the Northern section they where projected to win that section , Oakdale is from the San Joaquin section and have a good chance of being that sections champ. So for you slow ones coach Brackett was trying to Eliminate sections DO YOU GET IT NOW. If Foothill and Oakdale win there sections he was going for the head to head win over both narrowing the field hmm pretty smart. You guys are probbaly say O I never thought of that lol

  29. KillerD Says:

With the back and forth about seeding at D3 it seems to be clear the top 5 will be comprised of Encinal, Marin Catholic, Alhambra, Novato and El Cerrito.

It’s obvious there is boiling blood about the more deserving team, either Novato or El Cerrito.

Once those top 5 seeds get bolted into place, the surpises could start flying in from the committee.

Question: How is the NCS displaying the brackets and seeds today? All at once on the NCS site or team by team as they are chosen?

As for the D3 middle of the pack?

Major questions abound as to who will get the 6th, 7th and coveted 8th seeds because that gets those teams a home playoff game instead of going on the road?

    Who will be 6th?

    Who will be 7th?

    And who will be 8th?

  30. KillerD Says:

Suddenly, has Analy become a Dark Horse 8th seed with a shocking win over D2 Windsor?

  32. Bleacher Coach Says:

Murdoc how many times have you seen Novato play ? I have seen 7 of the 10 Jets games and 9 of the Novato games. If you would have been to any Novato games you would know they have a new sophmore QB transfered in from Montana the kids got an arm and good field vision. He didnt get here until late in Aug. so it took him awhile to catch up on the system and he still threw for over a 1000 yards. With a full summer under Coach Bracket who by the way played QB next year he will be beast.

  33. 4thqtrcomeback Says:

Bleacher Coach is right. Novato has been in the State Bowl picture Every Year since its inception, so they know what their doing with their schedule. Their losses are to tough teams. The fact that Marin Catholic was able to beat Novato speaks volumes about Marin Catholic this year. Any of the top fout teams in D3 have a shot at NCS. Foothill Palo Cedro has been in the State Bowl game conversation almost every year leading up to this year. If you don’t know who they are and dont respect that program then you are ignorant at best.

  34. HS Football Fan Says:

KillerD, Division V’s bracket is already up on the website. I keep checking to see if D-IV goes up, though I have to run an errand and might come back to see it all done.

It’s funny to see all of the teeth gnashing over #1 vs. #2. That really won’t matter a bit. Whoever falls to #3 is the only one who has an issue, since they’ll have to go on the road to face #2 in the semis.

  35. Wannaknow Says:

    Division IV is up now.

  36. Bleacher Coach Says:

Killer D I agree with your last post. except I dont think EC is that good I was there for the Jets game in week 1and they gotkilled they are small and not to fast so thats why I put EC at 5. I think the top 4 seeds will have blowouts in the first round the 5-12 seeds that where the good games will be

  37. MURDOC Says:

#32 us that going to be your excuse when they lose? Weak.

  38. KillerD Says:

KillerD’s middle of the pack D3 Seeds:

    Taking a Gamble on Seeds # 6 – 11

6th Seed: Healdsburg – based on their strong strength of schedule and wins over Acalanes and Analy. They got blasted by D2 power Petaluma, and the score was bad. But, Greyhounds played Alhambra tough too in a loss.

7th Seed: Fortuna – A terrible strength of schedule except for 3 games (losing to Ferndale and twice big to Eureka a D2 team). No shame in either loss and with a 7-3 standing, the committee will not overlook them.

8th Seed: Piedmont – 4 Losses all to playoff teams. Encinal and Kern Valley both league champions. St. Mary’s and St. Patricks should be high seeds in D4.

9th Seed: Tamalpais – 7-3 record, losses to Marin Catholic and Novato fine to deal with. But, they got crushed by a mediocre Justin-Siena team. Again, the committee will be reticent to bypass Tamalpais for the 9th slate.

10th Seed: Analy’s huge win vs. a respectable Windsor D2 team brought them from the brink of playoff extinction a week ago, to flaming up the D3 ladder for rankings. Their puzzling loss to a weak Sonoma Valley team might cause the committee to bump them down though.

11th Seed: Acalanes – they have had two weeks of rest after dropping the ball big time vs. a Campolindo team that got demolished by an average Las Lomas team. However, their win over Campo keeps them above the Cougars and Bishop O’Dowd hoping their 4-5-1 record gets them away from having to play Novato or El Cerrito in the first round – it won’t.

  39. KNIGHTS Says:

    Murdoc,
You hardly deserve a response, but are you really playing the race card here?
Also, please define your meaning of the term “honk”. I cant wait.

  40. Wannaknow Says:

Wow! The board sure is hot today. In the words of the great patriarch Rodney King, “Can’t we all just get along.”

  41. Bleacher Coach Says:

Murdoc race has nothing to do with it

  42. Bleacher Coach Says:

Murdoc so just for the record has a coach for the Jets you condone and encourge that type of behavior from your players?

  43. Bleacher Coach Says:

Killer D what do you think about a BOD vs Novato game

  44. non-ignorant HS footbal fan Says:

Murdoc anything you said is not credible if you dont know who Foothill of Palo Cedro or who Oakdale is….Novato OOC schedule was the real deal…..all that that shows is you just started following prep football. Foothill PC has been in D2 state title convo every year, they got some great footnball players up in the 530…how would you know thought, you dont know sh1t……..Oakdale is 9-1 and the real deal homie in SJS section, but you wouldnt know that either dumba$$……embarassed themselves against Oceanside??? HMMMMMM 28-14??? hows that embrassing? THERE ARE 8 DIVISION 1 PLAYERS ON THAT ROSTER FOR OCEANSIDE…YOU STUPID FVCK….8 D1 PLAYERS….CAN YOU READ….DOES THAT SOUND SLOW AND SMALL TO YOU??? HOW CAN A HUMAN BEING BE AS STUPID AS YOU AND TRY TO DROP “KNOWLEDGE” ON US ON HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL???? You watch if Novato is #4 seed and Encinal is #1 seed and they meet in the semis….its going to be one hell of a close game, no blowouts here…but your too dumb and stubborn to realize that

  45. Wannaknow Says:

Well Hold up bleacher coach. Although I do not agree with the way he delivered the comment for black kids race is always an issue. And society has made it that way. So anything that states the inequality is actually an overstatement as far as blacks are concerned. Because we already know the deck is stacked against us. Sad but true.

  46. KillerD Says:

If BOD goes to Novato, they will not be lulled into a sleepier mode due to playing on a Saturday afternoon, because they often do instead of Friday nights.

BOD learned to use their QB and passing game the last 1/3 of the season during the San Leandro game but it was too late.

Putting aside equal QB’s for each team, it comes down to the running game vs. the opponent’s Defense. Even though Novato is not as strong as it was two years ago or a shade less than last year even, I would say Novato by 14 points over BOD.

  47. KillerD Says:

How strong is Analy and Tamalpais, anybody seen them live this season?

  48. Oceanside Says:

MURDOC….YOU SAY MY OCEANSIDE SQUAD IS SLOW,SMALL AND WEAK FOOL? WE GOT 8 D1 PLAYERS FROM THAT 2007 SQUAD ON THAT MF’ING ROSTER, WHAT YA GOT HOMIE?? 1? YOU EVER WANNA COME DOWN TO THE 858 AND GET MOPPED UP HOME…HOLLA AT A PLAYA!! MURDOC GOTTA BE THE DUMBEST BROTHA I EVER SEEN POST….YOU EMBARASSING US HOMIE WITH YOU IGNORANT A$$

  49. Bleacher Coach Says:

I was at the Tam vs Novato game they are trying over there. The coaching is good they are trying to be well balanced but it takes time to get the lower levels going to feed varsity.

  50. KillerD Says:

Seems like the NCS committee is having a very hard time figuring out the bottom 2/3 of the seeding, it is still not up on their site yet.

  51. KillerD Says:

    Good report on Tamalpais.

How about Fortuna, Healdsburg, Piedmont or Acalanes?

    How do they matchup?

  52. All Day Says:

Oceanside any openings for 2010 on schedule? Maybe 2-year deal? Home and home

  53. EBfootball Says:

    encinal #1 marin #2
    http://www.cifncs.org/sports/football/files/RESULTS/2009/FB3BRACKET09.pdf

it posted on the ncs site already

  54. EBfootball Says:

    #3 alhambra #4 novato #5 healdsburg #6 ec

  55. Bleacher Coach Says:

I was at the Piedmont vs Encinal game sat right next to the Defence coach with the head set. Piedmont has athletes they one thing that I have told all teams who have played the Jets this year is this there line is BIG decent speed on the line but they area block because of there size couple that with the crazy speed of the Jet back field and the Backs pop holes and are on the line backers before you can blink. So I mentioned this to a couple of teams one during the game Piedmont actually listed my suggestion was but the down line man in a 4 point stance and have them clogg the hole basically chop blocking the O line but the LB need to know what gap they are blocking it was more than the P defence could adjust to in one half

  56. ManDown Says:

You seem to know alot about Encinal. I don’t know if you are exactly right but I hope you are right when your teams plays the Jets or else you just look like a fool.

  57. Heavy Set Learner Says:

At the last game moreau versus encinal I heard a couple of parents telling the coaches to put the kid in that wears #4. I dont go to a lot of their games but if parents are saying it, I think the coaches should have done so. I think it could be an upgrade from what they have now, I know he can run the option better. They cant get any worse on that side of the ball.

  58. yo mama Says:

Don’t listen and react to Murdoc. He was run off another blog for his racist/bigot comments. He has anger issues because of society. Not much knowlewdge of football and any level, in fact no knowledge of anything at any level. Anybody supporting that clown and can be identified as a coach is putting their program at risk for those type of comments.

  59. Bleacher Coach Says:

Mandown all I cant do is offer what I see to go with the game film the coahes of all the teams no there personel much better than I do ,but if I was a coach with out much team speed or size up front thats what I would do and if my best athletes on D where on the line I would pull them to line backer and put some other guys on the line to clogg the gaps. You cant stack the box because unlike Berkeley the Jets can Pass as well

  60. Head in the Sand Says:

    ALHAMBRA BY 17 OVER O’DOWD

  61. All Day Says:

Head in The Sand, watch out BOD might be hitting on all cycles right about now. Not to take anything away from Alhambra.17 seem like alot, you might know something that I don’t.

  62. Xs and O Says:

    Stop 25, you stop Alhambra.

  63. yo mama Says:

    Who is Murdoc’s team?

  64. MURDOC Says:

Bleacher Coach you sound a lot like that weasel Novato Fan Larry Reposa.

  65. Bleacher Coach Says:

I think he is a Jet coach

  66. Bleacher Coach Says:

the rumor is there is a Jet coach who uses 2or 3 different names to stir things up

  67. Bleacher Coach Says:

Murdoc I am sorry but you must have me confused with someone else but it sound like he is a smart guy and knows something about football maybe you should just read and learn for awhile and then when you are getting ready to post something dont lol

  68. old former meddling coach. Says:

Bleacher Coach, Lets get something right here. No.1 The Jets been sending the whole team out for the flip as long as i been around the program the last 5 years and it’s about unity. No.2 There are no thugs on the team whatsoever. I seen these guys come in the door as freshmen and the one thing we don’t have is thugs. No.3 Yes we played one game with a lack of discipline but our superior play overcame that and trust me when i tell you that Coach corrected that little loss of focus. We Don’t cheapshot but i think people have a problem with spirited play. If this was 20 yrs ago you really might have a beef. Lastly,Gentlemen please remember… This is only High School Football. Jet Pride!

  69. MURDOC Says:

Larry Reposa now your back huh. Lets start with your weak high school football career average at best. Secondly you played at Encinal & lived in Alameda til you got evicted now your trying to hate cuz you live in Novato in the burbs.

  70. YoMama Says:

Good comments Old Former. Now who is Murdoc? Is he with you guys? If so, make him go away. If not, let’s see some Jet posts challenging this bigot. You sound fair and impartial, fans are reacting to some Jet comments from a couple of bloggers and some ex-comments about other programs and schools. Let’s not wait for Encinal to win D-3, which they should, and then make all the hate comments again. If the team is solid and classy, which it seems to be, I have attended a few games watching them, the bloggers shouldn’t be running other teams down.
And for Mudoc, the Jets have some honks too, linemen and a couple of receivers that looked pretty good to me. They wouldn’t be in the rank that they are without those contributing positions. Nuff said.

  71. Bleacher Coach Says:

Old former I agree it is only a high school football game but come on spirted play this week against Moreau the poor Moreau QB threw the ball took two steps watching his pass a got blind sided from behind that goes way beyond spirted play or continuation of a play. I dont know about 20 years ago I wasnt around then but from the progams I have watched in much tougher areas than Alameda you dont see those kids doing those types of things. Take El Cerrito, Richmond ,San Pablo even Oakland you do not see that type of behavior or the amount of penalties for unsportsman like conduct. That is just another reason they the Jets would not get picked for a bowl berth could you see that happening on National TV the NCS doesnt want that kind of rep.

  72. YoMama Says:

Now Murdoc is poking fun at people with down syndrom. Again, who is your team and where did you play- except for yourself.

  73. renegades10 Says:

murdoc reminds me of robert downey jr.’s character in tropic thunder.

  74. renegades10 Says:

murdoc is not from DLS as a week ago he made a comment that implied all people from DLS are racist.

  75. Oceanside Says:

“Oceanside your a school full of suckas. Stay by the beach & run your weak Fly Sweep. We got speed for you Panta & we smack. So wipe that shit off the side of your cheek or recognize.”

RECOGNIZE WHAT FOOL??? YOUR WEAK ASS OOC SCHEDULE?? WANNA SMACK A TEAM AROUND, COME PLAY THE BIG BOYS YOU COWARD…..YOU PLAYED SERRA GOT SMOKED LIKE A B1TCH, OCEANSISDE STEPS AND PLAYS LONG BEACH POLY….GAME RECOGNIZE GAME CHUMP…..SOUNDS LIKE YALL GOT LUCKY TO EVEN BEAT THOSE WHITE BOYZ FROM MARIN CATHOLIC LAST YEAR, WORD IS THEY GONNE STUFF THE BALL DOWN YOUR THROAT THIS YEAR……OCEANSIDE WOULD P1SS ALL OVER YOU 2 SMALL TIMERS

  76. RollCall Says:

MUROC is an Encinal coach. He’s been jockin them hard for two years.

  77. YoMama Says:

After the season, I have a job for Murdoc parking cars for my guests on my 2 acre estate in Blackhawk. After that, he can stand in the lawn as an ornament holding a sign that says no trespassing. After dinner, he can join me and my ex- Vietnam buddies on the hills of Mt. Diablo behind the house shooting our M-16′s at watermelons and cans. After that, I will give him a ride to the bus stop in Danville and he can catch a bus back to Alameda. Happy Holidays Buddy!

  78. chs1012 Says:

    Renegade-

    More like Simple Jack.

  79. Bleacher Coach Says:

YoMamma that was to funny I am still laughing …..

  80. old former meddling coach. Says:

Bleacher Coach #73, All I can say is,there is quite a few times that kids do those kind of things. it is not taught and is not tolerated. If you would’ve been at the St.Pats-Encinal game you would’ve seen St.Pats Doing quite a bit of late hitting and dirty play. It happens all over. I can say that these Young men Play hard and hit hard within the rules. And since you can see that Encinal has all kinds of kids,How can we have any racism among them? Lets not knock the whole program based on Blogers comments that don’t reflect on The School,Team or the Coaching Staff. Jet Pride!

  81. nfl Says:

bleacher coach i’ve seen encinal there big n fast. you guys lost to marin catholic so what r u talkin bout? that lefty you got can’t throw. didnt novato lose to encinal last year? encinal has athletes good luck to them i think teams are just mad cuz ncs aint just the good ole boys like it was a couple of years ago. it’s obvious teams up north don’t want 2 play teams with brothers!

  82. YoMama Says:

Old Former- good comments- however I did not see any dirty play at that game, but penalities for late hits, which can happen anytime, especially on crowded sidelines, etc. The only racist is Murdoc and Guru-Black. Just about everyone on this blog is against them, including brothers from Oceanside, are you with us?,

  83. old former meddling coach. Says:

YoMama 87, I am Neutral But i don’t condone any racial remarks by anyone of a negative nature. It has no place in this society. Being a Child of the 60′s and 70′s I can say things are a lot better but in my opinion there are some people who can never be reached everywhere. Jet Pride!

  84. Acalanes Announcer Says:

Thank you, this helps a lot. Although I think Acalanes deserved a little more credit, luckily it worked out and we will be hosting Analy Friday.

  85. Oceanside Says:

LOL@MURDOC..IM FROM FRISCO HOMIE STR8 FROM THE MOE FOOL…IM A 12 YR MARINE CORP VET WHICH IS WHY IM IN OCEANSIDE FOOL….BEEN TO AFGHANISTAN ONCE AND IRAQ TWICE AND YOU TRYIN TO CALL ME OUT HOMIE? IVE SEEN SH1T AND HORRORS YOU WOULDNT BELIEVE HOMIE SO HAVE ABOUT 25,000 OF BROTHERS HERE IN OCEANSIDE WHO ARE PROUD MARINES FIGHTING TO PROTECT WELFARE A$$ N1GGA$ LIKE YO SELF……LOVE TO SEE YO SISSY STROLL DOWN TO MY HOME AND TELL ME AND MY 25,000 BROTHERS ABOUT US CROSSDRESSING AND BEING YUPPIES, MY BROTHERS WHO DIED OVERSEAS WERENT DYING FOR $$$$$…YOU WOULD BE MY GUEST OF HONOR…LET ME GUESS YOUR ALL TALK AND NO SUBSTANCE, IGNORANT A$$ PROBABLY NEVER LEFT THE BAY AREA

  86. mc415 Says:

i think if Novato and Encinal meet in the semis its going to be one hell of a game! Oceanside thanks for serving our country, looks like Oceanside has one hell of a team this year and Coach Hoke at SDSU is counting on you guys to revitalize their program

  87. choppers Says:

Oceanside is hella overatted to me anyways, that whole pac5 or pac 8 (please forgive me if I am worng ) is overated, all great schools, but stiff,

  88. Concerned Parent Says:

Oh my Goodness – some of you should be ashamed of yourselves. If you are high school students posing as adults, that explains some of the comments. But if you are adults and exchanging the types of messages I am seeing here, you should be completely ashamed of yourselves. Especially the barely veiled racial slurs. Can the moderators please moderate and get these comments off of here. And the rest of you need to remember that this is high school sports – grow up. The players are showing more class than some of you!

  89. Oceanside Says:

Choppers forgive me….but you have seen them play one time 2 years ago?

  90. Perry Says:

oceanside —- thanks for your service!

  91. the G.O.A.T. Says:

violence is the most primitive form of communication

  92. YoMama Says:

Oceanside, you said it all to that punk Murdoc. Siempe Fei !

  93. BigJoe Says:

Just for the record, De La puts some kids in the service too. Navy , Marines and Air Force. Just recently one was killed in the line of duty in Afgastain. Not all silver spooned kids at De La like the fool detractors think. Oceanside and your comrades, HAIL!
Murdoc, the Marines, any place , any time. They protect what you take for granted- FREEDOM. Freedom is not free.

  94. choppers Says:

Yess, I seeen orange play, lbp, I think the EBAL league in nor cal, and the WCAL is better then that league. And honestly I was roooting heavliy for you guys when u guys faced you crosstown rivalry a couple of years ago, and it was a let down, why didn’t that game happen last year?

  95. Coach Tenorio Says:

OK I haven’t been on these blogs til now. I like just reading them unless something just has to be said. First is MURDOC is not a coach on my staff. Trust me my staff will blog with their real names there are no punks over here. Secondly Yo Mama is the biggest sucker & trash talker on these blogs so I don’t want to hear anything from him he came sideways at me out of no where earlier this year. Secondly Oceanside bring it there is no fear of So Cal. I doubt your even from there. Nobody just happens to surf the Net & be in the Bay Area site. Secondly if your from Frisoc there are no Frisco teams in our section. Your talking bad about us its nothing lets handle it on the field. Your probably just a fan though. I’m the Head Coach I schedule games. I’ll drop a league team on my schedule to play you. But your probably just a fan talking so have somebody blog from your area thats a shot caller.

  96. ... Says:

people talk too much smack on these blogs
Novato deserves more respect as does Alhambra.

  97. Hood Boy Says:

Well looks like Coach T shut a lot of people up lol..gotta love it

  98. Triton8 Says:

Bleacher Coach…..are you serious? You think that the Jets purposely late hit and get penalties jsut to be punks? You honestly think that the coaching staff teaches their kids to start 1st and 20? And please stop with the State Bowl crap….its getting old! Big deal….Novato went to the State Bowl? That’s not the ultimate measure of a team. I think one of the true tests between teams is the head to head records???? EHS 1 Novato 0.
