  1. Kyle Bonagura Says:

I’m very surprised Kennedy-Fremont got left out after almost beating James Logan on Friday… wow.

  2. KillerD Says:

Shocking to see Acalanes, Campo, Miramonte ranked so high, stunning.

  3. HS Football Fan Says:

Terra Linda gets rewarded for that schedule? Awful! It looks like the committee put all their stock in Sonoma’s upset of Analy. And Piedmont at 13? Holy crap!

  4. All Day Says:

Possible upset in DIII BOD will beat Alhambra.

  5. Bob Says:

I’m surprised Moreau Catholic and Kennedy-Fremont were BOTH passed over for Tera Linda.

  6. KillerD Says:

Early Picks, subject to gut feeling for now, will break them down later at playoff level D 1 – D 4.

    But for now:

Encinal will beat Sonoma by 40. Good for Sonoma getting in, but they have no idea of what they are about to face up front and personal. This will be a nasty beat down.

Fortuna will pound Campolindo by 21
Campo is way overrated at 9th seed and it will show. This surprise move by the committee will end up hurting Campo big, long trip to Fortuna will be even longer trek back home after losing to the Huskies.

Novato and Piedmont, I don’t know either team’s skill, size or speed matched up? I would have to say Novato by 10 points now. A game I would like to see.

Healdsburg will beat Miramonte by 10.
Mind blowing how Miramonte gets ranked so high with a 4-6 mark. Truly unbelievable. Greyhounds win over the Mats.

Acalanes got a gift at 7th seed and will edge Analy. Again a 5-5 DFAL team – a league that is down in 2009 get another super high ranking in this playoff field?

Marin Catholic in a massive win over Terra Linda, as they get tuned up for the winner of Acalanes vs. Analy.

Alhambra takes BOD by 14 points
Bulldogs will be able to stop the run well enough, and understand the Coach Perenon likes to then Waggle, Boot and Screen.

El Cerrito beats Tamalpais by 17
The Gauchos will play the No Respect card all week, and take it out on Tam big time

  7. HS Football Fan Says:

Looks like the top half of the bracket went almost according to Hoyle. I think they really screwed up the bottom half (that Terra Linda pick while playing only one team above .500 is almost indefensible), but the teams left out have only themselves to blame. If Kennedy beats American or schedules a better D-III game than DeAnza they might be in. If Moreau holds on to beat either Galileo or San Lorenzo, they’re in.

I don’t see any first round upsets. O’Dowd, with their season on the line, needed a last minute miracle to beat 3-7 Arroyo (who had nothing to play for) at home. I don’t think they have any chance at Alhambra. I don’t even think there are any likely second round upsets, which sets up Novato at Encinal and Alhambra at Marin Catholic in the semis.

  8. Bleacher Coach Says:

KillerD all four games of the high seeded teams will be blow outs. I cant believe Terra Linda got in either but if you put Moreau in they would be the 16th seed and play Encincal again in back to back weeks and after a 55-14 pounding buy Encinal Friday night that would be hard to do. Terra Linda didnt play Novato or Marin Catholic so atleast MC has a team they have not played yet

  9. Ryan Harding Says:

it is surprising to see Acalanes so highly seeded at 5-5, but i cant argue with it. all their losses are to playoff teams, and they didnt play particularly well in those games. they have wins over miramonte and las lomas, and nearly beat alhambra. when they play their best, they are hard to beat

  10. Mike Says:

All Day and HS Football Fan, Im Surprised Odowd Made It In With That Record!! They wont survive mighty Alhambra. Dog House

  11. roy Says:

looking for a rematch last years game was played in so much fog you could not see the other side of the field.

  12. Perry Says:

roy …. i video for miramonte and i’m telling you – you couldn’t see your OWN side let alone the other side.
i’ve watched that video many times — it’s just surreal. somehow or another i did catch miramonte’s winning td on film. i think it was pure luck and instinct. please don’t order up any fog for next friday. :-)

  13. choppers Says:

I am not suprised kennedy got passed up, they lost to amercian, and DV, be real,

  14. MVAL Fremont Says:

If Kennedy had beaten American a couple of weeks ago maybe they are in. Though Kennedy I think finished the year with a 4 – 6 record and went 2 – 4 in league.

  15. Head in the Sand Says:

It is pathetic that a team with a losing record like BOD gets selected and in the other bracket San Lorenzo is left out with a winning record and a higher league finish than BOD.

  16. mc415` Says:

#14 hey its “Overrated2A” from Norcalpreps.com….hes Coach Pernon’s personal internet stalker…..you have over 77 posts and every single one is a negative comment about BOD….not ONE single post about anything else, your a creepy ass dude!!

  17. RollCall Says:

I remember when Norcalpreps.com used to have good football banter. This site basically shut ncp.com down as far as ncs is concerned.

  18. mc415` Says:

yeah ncp.com has nothing on NCS anymore especially the lower divisions…glad i found this site

  19. manrod Says:

The DFAL is well represented, a very tough and competitive league.

All teams deserve to be here, based upon their schedules.

  20. 510 football fan Says:

I would like to say piedmont got what they deserve by getting the
13th seed they didn’t beat anyone good and lost 3 games in a bad league that encinal
dominates navato dominates since piedmont hasn’t been able to get passed the first round
Since drew olsen was there. Campo will come up big in they playoffs they always do
I also think ec can be a sleeper

  21. 510 football fan Says:

Piedmont got what they deserve novato will send them back to the oakland hills beat and bruised up campo always comes to play in the playoffs
They win over fortuna and ec could be a sleeper expect them to go deep in the playoffs

  22. football415 Says:

Does Piedmont still use the A11 offense?? Wasn’t it banned by the Highschool Football Association?

  23. Bleacher Coach Says:

Piedamont still uses the A-11 it was not banned it was monified and with some rule changes is now even more versitile.
    .

  24. eastbayfbfan Says:

what does everyone think about the miramonte healdsburg game. miramonte came within an inch of beating alhambra. score doesnt accurately show the way that game went that night

  25. LAR Says:

I’m sorry to terra linda and Sonoma Valley fans and players,

but i don’t think you guys deserve the #15 and #16 seed

JFK and Moreau had a WAY tougher schedule than either and other than SV’s upset of Analy, there isnt a quality win between them. The fact that TL played a schedule with only one team above .500 and only went 4-6, while JFK who plays entirely a DI schedule goes 4-6. Even Moreau, played 6 schools who should be in the playoffs (dont even let me get started with the SanLorenzo snub) and still had a 4-6 record. I know they didn’t beat any of those 6 but both the SL game AND the Galileo game came down to 1 play. SL won on a 4th and goal play with a questionable call (i was at the game) and apparently moreau fumbled a snap on a drive that they were dominating Galieo in.

    sorry, but its total bull.

    and Piedmont at 13! WTFFFFFFF

  26. Scl alum Says:

I think the Healdsburg – Miramonte game should be competetive, like last year’s 27-20 game in Orinda. I give Healdsburg a bit of an edge with a little bit of redemption factor. Predict Hounds take it by 7

  27. Scl alum Says:

Anyone know if Campo is staying overnight Saturday up in Fortuna? Would be heckuva one day turnaround otherwise.

  28. in thebay Says:

not sayin they will but if they do how close can the ec alhambra game be.

  29. Jet4ever52 Says:

Sonoma Valley Friday night nice.. Hopefully I can Broadcast the game for those who can’t make it

  30. Perry Says:

@ scl alum—- last year’s game is still surreal. my son plays for miramonte and last year’s game is one of the funnest/weirdest games i’ve ever been to. that fog was UNREAL!

  31. TB Says:

Anybody know much about Healdsburg and Alhambra? I know Alhambra has a good rb but thats about it.

  32. KillerD Says:

The NCS playoff selectors let loose with some laughable seeding surprises in this year’s D3 field:

Campolindo vs. Fortuna – An incredibly too high seed for the Cougars who got obliterated vs. an average Las Lomas team. Fortuna did jumping jacks as a whole team when it was revealed that Campo would have to make the slog up Highway 1 to meet them. It is going to be wet, muddy, goopy and soupy. Campo has no chance and they cannot stop the run. Fortuna will ground chuck and pound Campo and the Cougars will be exposed for being ranked way too high in this bracket. Fortuna by 17.

Miramonte vs. Healdsburg – The Greyhounds deserve a home playoff game after finishing 6-4 vs. a very tough schedule but they should not have been ranked above El Cerrito. Getting ripped by D2 top dog Petaluma hurt, but it was expected – although giving up 60 points unless its basketball is never good. Again, somehow Miramonte at 4-6 gets seriously overrated by the committee, and up at Healdsburg in the rain, it will be a long night for the Mats. Greyhounds are fast on dry ground and can flit across sloshy surfaces too, and this time the Matadors will be gored by a better team.

Novato vs. Piedmont – Something odd swerved the committee to rank the Highlanders at a disrespectul 13th, only sitting above Bishop ODowd, Terra Linda and Sonoma Valley. Not sure what it was? But equally surprised must be the Hornets of Novato…Getting the #4 seed is supposed to guarantee that highly ranked team an easy ride into the 2nd round, a tune up game to clean things up, maybe even allow your backup QB to get into the action early in the 4th quarter vs. a cream puff of a 13th seed. However, not this game though, Piedmont must be steaming livid, and it will be a nasty teeth gnashing fight between these two proud programs. Might be the best first round game in D3?

Bishop ODowd vs. Alhambra – Miramonte and Acalanes better send the “Anonymous” NCS selection committee members on a trip to Paris for the Holidays and thank their lucky charms they don’t have to play Alhambra again. Easily Miramonte should have been rematched with Alhambra instead of an ODowd team that has a better record than Miramonte does. The Committee is obviously fond of rematches (look at D1 playoffs), but they again gave a far overrated weaker DFAL league/teams a gift, and then plopped the Dragons into the 14th slot behind Piedmont. This will be a great game by both teams and Alhambra better be ready or Coach Perenon will be smelling like a rose after the upset.

El Cerrito vs Tamalpais – The Gauchos deserved to be ranked one slot higher, but again the Committee missed. EC’s 7-3 is better than Healdsburg’s 6-4 any way you look at it. El Cerrito’s speed will be hampered a bit on the muddy turf at home. Tamalpais got bumped down by the obvious DFAL tilt by the committee and now they will meet their doom vs. EC, when a higher ranking in a better organized field would have given them a shot at a first round win vs a weaker team than EC, that should have been ranked 5th.

Analy vs. Acalanes – Putting Acalanes at 7th seed is ridiculous, but giving them a Home game also to open the playoffs is Absurd. After dropping a crucial game at home to Campolindo to end the year on a fizzle, the Dons (a respectable .500% team) get rewarded with a Top 7 slot AND a home game???????????????? Analy has been schizoid this year, and their unspeakable loss to Sonoma Valley was inexcusable. Again, the DFAL keeps their palms held out and open wide, and the NCS selection committee floating in the heavens keep dropping gold coins into them. Acalanes wins this one because they are at home, but then reality hits and they go to Marin Catholic next round to get beat.

Gotta love the NCS playoffs this time of year!

  33. Morgan Says:

Tam should’ve been much higher. They have better records then Fortuna, Campo Lindo, and Analy. I respect those three teams, but Tam has the record. Reward it. Acalanes did lose to Campo, so give Campo the seven, and Tam the eight.

On another note, Tam was 0-10 two years ago. Last year, they went 5-5, and this year finish 7-3. Reward them with a home game!

  34. jamal Says:

Kennedy(Fremont) played Heritage n Logan N Washington n Competed with Heritage n Logan. Play In a D1 League and did not make playoffs . How does that happen. AND when will MVAL stats be finished? and number #10 on Kennedy Raw =)

  35. Bleacher Coach Says:

KillerD Do you go to any games? Have you seen any of these teams actually play? The Tam vs. El Cerrito will be closer than you think. I do agree EC has the advantage playing at home on that mud bowl of a field. I have seen both teams twice they are about evenly matched talent wise I think this game will come down to turnovers and the kicking game. As far as the Novato vs Piedmont game again I think you are off base did you know that Novato and Piedmont have a common opponent? They both played Drake. Piedmont won at home 49-14 Novato played at Drake and Won 59-0 with a running clock in the second half. I was at that game it was 25-0 at the end of the first Q and 39-0 at the half and 59-0 at the end of the third Q the whole 4th Q was played by the backups and then the backups backups and on top of that Novato started the game without 5 of there starters who came to the game late due to SAT testing. I see a shut out in this game. Cal preps thinks Piedmont will score twice but I dont see it. Add to that it is a day game everthing favors the Hornets

  36. Grid Iron Says:

Wow!! B.O.D has the worst season ins shcool history and still makes playoffs.

  37. Scl alum Says:

If you’re Novato, who would you prefer to play in the second round (Healdsburg – Miramonte winner)?

  38. Bleacher Coach Says:

If I was Novato I would like to play Healdsburg because that would be one more win for the Northbay I get tired of listening to how great the DFAL is with only 1 team with more than a 5-5 record lol it is almost funny now that I think about it. No discrespect to Healdsburg but there are no real games until the Semi-finals. I think it is a toss up again between Novato and Encinal a touchdown will probably decide that one and MC will just destroy Alhambra period.

  39. KillerD Says:

To Bleacher Coach – You seem to have a grasp of both sides of the bay regarding high school football, your attachment to outstanding Novato, and having scouted in person many top east bay teams.

I have reliable contacts and swap game videos online or the DVD’s, regarding the D3 playoff field, below is my take from the teams in the tournament I have watched video on in 2009, nothing to do with last season, only this year alone. And I will also throw in some comparisons to D2 and D1 for measure of the teams I have seen to lend credence. All comments based on video I have seen:

    1. Encinal – MONSTER Offensive Line, one of the top 3 in the entire bay. 350 lbs, 300, 200, 260 and 210, Giants that move in Concert together, able to crush, move and squash mankind in front of them. Ducket # 15 is their qb and safety. Incredible athlete and playmaker. Saw him early season and had trouble with consisent passing, but has worked hard to refine his throwing and now is a true dual threat. Best dual athlete in the D3 field. THEN, throw in 5 running backs and wr’s that can score from anywhere on the field, and you have the most potent offense in D3 behind a scary OL. Encinal’s team speed on defense is also the best. A clear favorite to win it all again. The ONLY way Encinal goes down in defeat is if a Team can pass its way over and around their defense. Their staff is doing incredible job. Their OL is better than most of the D1 teams in the bay area, flat out.

    2. Marin Catholic – Two great defensive lineman, powerful rushing attack and excellent coaching. They do not have a lot of superstar playmakers on offense, but they are sound across the board, make very, very few mistakes and seem to always be in the right place. Good choice at # 2 seed and their impending game vs. Alhambra will be classic. Look for MC’s defense to swat others silly, and their special teams are first rate.

    3. Alhambra – Lose to CP is their only blemish, but this year’s Bulldogs are capable of beating anybody. Very good running back and quiet but solid qb play. Their defense got shaky but vs. Miramonte their offense turned it on and took care of business. If they can make ODowd throw more than 20 times, they win this weekend.

    4. Novato – Hornets beat a huge Foothill up north and almost then beat Foothill EBAL too. Their incredibly fast defense is well coached and well placed. Saw them vs. Oakdale and Novato was clearly outmanned. Oakdale physically awesome and well coached and Novato wore out. I cannot see Novato getting beat until Encinal unless their defensive secondary can be exploited. I was not impressed by their DB’s compared to the more athletic playmakers on rosters throughout the east bay and OAL. I just don’t know if their secondary has seen the kind of speed and skill upcoming in the playoffs backed up by QB’s that can get the ball downfield. Novato’s special teams are also first rate. Quite a few people touting the Novato’s QB Division 1 potential talent at the next level, sorry, but no way he is that good. Maybe a D2 player, more likely a polished D3 collegian.

    5. Healdsburg – Have not seen them this year, but nasty schedule and close games except Petaluma, put my money on them over Miramonte.

    6. El Cerrito – Gauchos have speed to burn on offense and thrilling playmakers to watch. Their qb is solid and RB and WR combo deadly. I picked them over Tamalpais with good margin because I don’t think Tamalpais has seen that type of speed all year, and cannot duplicate EC’s speed in practice. A wet field will certainly level the deal and make no mistake, Tam is hoping for Rain.

    7. Acalanes – 5-5 is exactly what it says. The Dons have done a respectable job but they are not a scary team. I was schocked how unathletic and without speed they were compared to other D3 teams in the playoffs. Their pound it out offense puts defenses to sleep and then they try to hit you with the play action. Coach I. doing a very good job, but they are very overrated in this field. Should have been three spots lower easily in a weak DFAL this year.

    8. Fortuna- Saw their Ferndale game. Ferndale is a killer and Fortuna gave them a great game. Campo is the unlucky recipient of an overrated DFAL this year and with the 9th seed, were forced to travel up north. Fortuna will pound Campo, it will be wet, and Campo has a terrible running game this year. The Huskies will meet Encinal in Round Two, and Campo will go home.

    9. Campolindo – Cougars allowed an average Las Lomas team (I have seen 3 of LL games on film), score after score, and out of it by halftime. Campo is a weaker team by at least 14 points than Fortuna. I really like Campo qb Stephens, kid can make a lot of throws, has good feet and zip. But he is trying to do it all on his own. Campo cannot stop the run and they will get hammered by Fortuna. Campo is very overrate and losing to a bad OAL Oakland team shows that earlier this year.

    10. Analy – A good passing game, reliable backs and receivers. But they are inconsistent. Like to spread you out and pass, screen, read and draw. I think they should have been ranked higher and because the DFAL was overrated this year, they must travel to Acalanes who is fresh. The Dons will be able to run the ball on Analy, and I am taking the Dons to beat Analy only because they got a gift of a home game in Round One.

    11. Tamalpais – Have not seen them but their struggle vs. Terra Linda told me all I need to know. Good decent team but not very good.

    12. Miramonte – Turmoil and seesaw describes them in 2009. Wade is a great coach but a very overrated team in this field. Watched their game vs. Dublin and they looked iffy even though the Gaels are higher D2. WR King is a good playmaker but nothing close to other superstar receivers scattered throughout the bay. I would rank him a good 1aa DB level, solid. I was surprised by Miramonte’s lack of speed and athletic ability. I also saw their loss vs. Las Lomas, and LL is nothing like they have been, way down. After their close game in WA, I was expecting them to have a lot more speed but they don’t, they are suprisingly slow. Great coaching and schemes helped their cause to go 4-6 this year, and kids that never gave up in a down year for the DFAL.

    13. Piedmont – Blown away by their way too low ranking based on their strenth of schedule. Watched them vs. Encinal and Moreau. They played Encinal without their starting qb, Craggie and it was close game midway through the 3rd quarter before the Jets beat em down. But, their starting qb is amazing. They are scary good with him in there, kid has a bullet arm and great speed. He looked incredible against Moreau, and that duo of receivers at Piedmont shocked me. Both of their wideouts will play at a high level next year and if Craggie plays against Novato, it will be a terrific game.

    14. Bishop O’Dowd – Coach Perenon gets a bad rap sometimes but not sure why? The man wins and wins, and then has a down year and all of the sudden he’s the Devil? Come on. He did rely to heavily on the RB skills of his amazing tailback, and now figured out this year in the 2nd half of the San Leandro game that his qb is decent. Their game vs. Skyline was fun to watch. And BOD should have put that game away. Their errors and Skyline’s never quit attitude cost them the win. I like BOD running back, but don’t think he can carry them to the title in 2009. I see BOD bowing out after the first round in losing to Alhambra.

    15. Terra Linda – Weak and have no business being in the playoffs after getting pardoned by not having to play Novato or Marin Catholic in their own league. Moreau should have been here instead of Terra Linda. Committee REALLY blew this one in earthquake like fashion.

    16. Sonoma Valley – Beat Analy and that’s why they are here. Personally, I would have allowed a 4-6 JFK Fremont team into this slot or even Moreau. Sonoma has no idea of the speed, size, and skill of Encinal coming their way. They will get obliterated physically and on the scoreboard – Encinal by 40 points or more.

    All just one man’s opinion…………….

  40. Bleacher Coach Says:

KillerD great observations I agree with your last post the one sign of intelligent life here on the Div III scene lol. However there are a couple of things I would like to point out that you may not of picked up on. In regard to Encinal I agree there line is HUGE but it is the speed of the running game that makes line look so good the backs are in and out of the holes so fast it makes the line look better than they are during the run what I was impressed with was the pass blocking the left side of the line pass blockes real well. The Jets right tackle tends to start early alot ,of the false start penalties the Jets have I am sure he has the most and can be made to jump easier than most. Druckett is a force no doubt he plays a 200% every play but has been prone to concussions because he hits so hard on denfence. He was knocked out cold last years vs. MC and was out for awhile this year against Piedmont I wa surprised they still let him play the rest of that game after that. The coaching staff moved him to LB for the reat of that game and he missed 2 series at QB. Then there is the subject of team composer, last year Jonathan Brown was a true team captian if someone was out of line or hurting the team man he was on them before the coaching staff. This year against low level talent the Jets are prone to lossing there cool ,talking smack on the field etc. what happens when the face a little adversity? You can have 4-5 15 yard penalties when play weaker teams against top talnet those really hurt.

MC is solid as they are every year. The MC vs. Novato game could have gone either way. The MC defence came up BIG with two goal line stops so you have got to respect that win.

In regard to the Novato vs Oakdale game , Hands down Oakdale is a monster team all the way around there running back House I believe his name was is a house the Kid was big and Novato hand no answer. As far as the Novato QB the kid is a Sophmore and didnt get to Novato until mid summer as a transfer from out of state. I saw him with out his helmet on for the first time a couple of weeks ago anf the kid looks like a baby give him the off season to mature and have a full offseason working under coach Brackett and I think you will change your mind by the end of next season about his DI chances.

As far as EC goes I hear there is talk about there starting QB is going to be out I looked for the articale again but cant seem to find it. So if that happens I would give the nod to Tam if not I say it is still a coin flip.

I will be at the Jets game Friday night and the Novato and Berkeley games on Saturday what games are you at?

  41. KillerD Says:

I will be at all the games…-))

  42. Bleacher Coach Says:

    all what games?

  43. old former meddling coach. Says:

Bleacher Coach 40# How long are they supposed to hold their blocks??!! Duckett Is fine and he wouldn’t be playing if he was not ok. Yes we did have some maturity problems but they have been taken care of. And believe me when i say Duckett is in Charge along with Big Murph. No he is not John Brown But he’s not supposed to be. This is Duckett’s team and Encinal will do what they need to do to repeat as NCS Champs. It’s up to the Commitee if they go beyond that. Jet Pride!

  44. Bleacher Coach Says:

old former meddling coach they need to hold there blocks for as long as there backs need them to lol that is exactly my point if the backs where of average speed you would see some defects in the line during the run during the passing game not so much. Also I never said Druckett wans’t fine I said he was prone to concussions not that he had one. Both times he was knocked out where due to hits he laid on someone monster hits , if that where to happen in one of the playoff games the Jets chances would be really hurt. As far as the maturity problems I didnt see you at the Moreau game so I dont know is you saw the unsportsman like coduct and ruffing the passer calls this week as well as the right tackle jumping twice on offence. Iam just putting out observations please try to keep and open mind.

  45. old former meddling coach. Says:

Bleacher Coach 44# I’m on the Encinal sideline every game home or away. What team doesn’t get penalties from time to time. If we were perfect we’d be in The Pac 10. And on the line blocking, All backs should hit the hole fast so what u say really has no bearing Would You use a slow back if u had a fast one?. It is a unfair observation. And believe it or not,We got a back up QB that will pick up where Duckett leaves off just as he did when Brown left. These guys work hard everyday and someone like u thinks that their Cris Collingsworth with this stuff. Every team in the state has Tackles false starting. Jeez.. Look at the Raiders and u want to hold High School kids to a super high standard. Does DLS Linemen Jump from time to time? I’m sure they do. I have no beef with you Bleacher Coach but i’m a lil bit tired of people trying to put the Youngsters down. Jet Pride!

  46. THE CAMP Says:

Bleacher Coach, If a back is just average speed, he probably be playing offensive line for Encinal or maybe even a special teams guy (Kick Return Team – which shouldn’t happen often). Bleacher Coach, you lost some credibility there. Thats too bad huh? It was fun shooting the sh!t while it lasted bro. Encinal doesn’t use average speed Running Backs.

  47. Bleacher Coach Says:

old former meddling coach Iam in no way what so every putting any kids down all my comments pertain to the game and how it is played. My comments are based on what I see. NO ONE has asked me my comments on the other teams so I dont volunteer them. If someone would like ask about otherteams short coming I would be happy to comment. Second The Jets have uncommonly fast backs at least 4. I think you are so biased you cant see thae Jets having any short comings lol so there is nothing I can say that will make you happy other than the Jets are unbeatable which is not true

  48. old former meddling coach. Says:

Bleacher Coach #47 No one is unbeatable. And i give credit where Credit is Due. Yes im Biased towards the Jets,But I see them practice everyday and know what they been through. I’ve known most of these youngsters for at least the last 4 yrs. No one is perfect at all but I believe that this is high school football and no one will be mistake free. I think that you just like to magnify the small shortcoming in order to belittle what the team has done. You are welcome to your opinions but what experiences are they based on besides watching? Jet Pride!

  49. Bleacher Coach Says:

old former meddling coach well here is some more info you wont like this is from cal preps

Oceanside (CA) 38, Encinal (Alameda, CA) 12
Oakdale (CA) 31, Encinal (Alameda, CA) 28
Marin Catholic (Kentfield, CA) 26, Encinal (Alameda, CA) 22
Novato (CA) 27, Encinal (Alameda, CA) 26

  51. old former meddling coach. Says:

Bleacher Coach, The reason we play the games is so we know who the winner is. If we all went by cal preps,We might as well not play any games. :-) They also had picked to lose a few games last year if i remember right. Jet Pride!

  52. old former meddling coach. Says:

Bleacher Fan, Thanks for the Info. :-D Guess we’ll be making history huh? Jet Pride!

  53. Scl alum Says:

Anyone have any prediction on potential Alhambra – Marin Catholic semifinal matchup?

  54. Bleacher Coach Says:

    Yes MC in a laugher

  55. billjohnson Says:

didnt encinal beat both novato & marin catholic last year? bleacher fan you sound alot like novato fan jet alumni. i seen all 3 teams this year all not as good as last year but encinal still has the team speed maybe even faster. novato is not close to last years team qb play is not that good. marin has no reciever threats & adams is big brusier but not as shifty as dumont.

  56. Scl alum Says:

Who in Div III stands best chance to upset Encinal?

  57. Larry Reposa Says:

Bleacher Coach I learned last year that making all my predictions off of CaPreps is really stupid. Saying Encinal would lose to teams cuz a website says so doesn’t make a lot of sense to believe that Encinal would lose to those teams. I went to Encinal I’m alumni I didn’t have the best career pretty average at best but the teams they have now are definitely better then the North Bay. I think Encinal will beat Novato & Marin Catholic if they stay healthy. Jet Pride!

  58. ManDown Says:

Bleacher Coach. Maybe they teach speed at Encinal which is why they are so fast. Nobody on here can understand why they are so fast. Maybe thats what they teach there backs and the OL. To play with speed. I know thats what the OAL teaches. SPEED!

  59. Footballfan415 Says:

an outgunned MC almost beat Encinal last year (if it werent for a iffy personal foul call) this year’s MC team is much improved from the 4 loss MC team from last year……Adams is a bruiser who averaged 10 yards a carry and Mason Brown is also a threat when he touches the ball…..I think MC-Encinal game is a total crap shoot, Encinal fans make it sound like they got it in the bag! That game will go either way………I think Encinal will be in a dogfight with Novato too, who i think is just as good as MC…..amazing how overconfident Encinal fans seem to be

  60. The Real Reposa Says:

Wow so you have Jet coach’s posing as mutilple people and now they are claiming to be me I will ask the staff here to remove any post with my name on it and as them to ban who is ever posting these false messages

  61. old former meddling coach. Says:

Footballfan415,We had much respect for Marin Catholic so don’t get it twisted. Dumont was a load and we came out with a hard fought win. What fans say(including me) doesn’t matter. The Jets will do their talking with their pads. We are just proud of how hard the team has worked to get where they are. Don’t hate. We want they guys to be confident and play with confidence. Being Confident is not being cocky. Jet Pride!

  62. billjohnson Says:

real reposa how do you compare this years novato & marin catholic to last year’s team?

  63. Footballfan415 Says:

just saying Novato is going to be physical tough game to just get to the finals…..Novato has been lights out since the MC loss…..MC is going to shove it down anyone’s throat and they are finally 100% healthy for the first time in several weeks…Encinal is going to have 2 nailbiters if they are going to win the title, no doubt…..but yes Encinal still most athletic team in this bracket and they play with swagger

  64. ManO'War Says:

Novato is underrated team with a couple of strange losses but very good skill players (1 and 2 particularly), kicker, good lines and defensive backfield. Watch out.

  65. ... Says:

Encinal too over rated MC should have got first seed

  66. Larry Reposa Says:

Now I’m not the real Larry Reposa. Now I didn’t play for Encinal 86-87 for Ironside wow.

  67. Scl alum Says:

Any predictions on the Healdsburg – Miramonte game tomorrow night?

  68. ManDown Says:

Piedmont will be lucky this week. I read that Novato lost two of there top players for the year in last weeks game.

  69. Scl alum Says:

Final score of the Healdsburg game-

    Miramonte 30, Healdsburg 28

I predicted this game to be a close one. Hats off to the Mats. Very proud of Coach K and the players for having a good season, playing one of the most challenging schedules in Hounds history. Playing with a lot of heart.

    Go Hounds!

  70. Scl alum Says:

This is brave coming from a rival school, but kudos to Sonoma for giving Encinal a battle. Where many wrote Sonoma off as 40 pt underdogs, Sonoma was only down 14-0 at the start of the final period. Good brave effort Dragons.

  71. choppers Says:

I remeber the encinal MC game last year, encinal shoulda one by 3 touchdowns, that iffy penalty call, was big, but enicnal had the ball count em 6 times in the 5 yard line and only scored twice. NOT gonna happen again

  72. Scl alum Says:

    Fortuna fans,

After hearing about Eureka’s handily-won game vs. Pinole Valley, must make the Eureka league losses seem a tad easier to digest. If the Huskies win tonight vs. Campo, I hope they give Encinal a tough game next weekend in the Bay.

  73. The Real Reposa Says:

billjohnson in regard to your post #62 This years Novato team started without leadership at the QB position. They played the first 3 games with QB by committy since then I think the have settled on 1 QB but he his young. Novato has not had a QB with an arm for awhile this new kid can throw but hasnt really had super recievers and now with Meehan out I think they are thin at reciever. I have seen MC this year so I couldnt comment on them. FOR THE RECORD ANY POST UNDER LARRY REPOSA IS NOT ME it must be someone Iknow because they do know I played for Encinal on Varsity 85-86 and 86-87 yes Ironside was my coach so I would say Sanchez stop being a poser lol

  74. Neil Tarpey Says:

Final from Humboldt County … Fortuna 36, Campolindo 20. (Fortuna finished second behind Eureka in the Big 4.)

  75. Scl alum Says:

Seemslike HDNL is getting a bit more respect in NCS football as of late

  76. old former meddling coach. Says:

Scl alum #70, Yes they did come to play. I’m sure they will be back next year. Jet Pride!

  77. Scl alum Says:

Anybody know if Eureka and Ygnacio Valley have played each other in football before? Just curious.

  78. Scl alum Says:

    Old Former Meddling Coach,

What’s your assessment of the Fortuna team?

  79. Scl alum Says:

I heard a couple of the Encinal coaches were up at the game on the North Coast this evening

  80. old former meddling coach. Says:

Scl alum, I never even heard of Fortuna. And i mean that in no disrespectful way. Don’t even know where it is. I’m sure the staff is doing their homework. Jet Pride!

  81. Scl alum Says:

    Old Former Meddling Coach,

Fortuna is just south of Eureka, about 275 miles north of you

  82. Bleacher Coach Says:

old former meddling coach why do you keep calling me Larry ?

  83. ..... Says:

Who won between campo and fortuna

  84. Neil Tarpey Says:

Fortuna is 20 miles south of Eureka on U.S. 101.

  85. Scl alum Says:

I would like to see Fortuna give Encinal a challenging game. It’s hard to discount the 5.5- 6 hour bus ride down to Alemeda, but another HNDL team nearly beat Novato in the 2007 NCS final (Del Norte barely lost at Novato, some 350 miles away, 18-14) Wish I could have seen that game!

  86. Scl alum Says:

Killer D, gotta give you props on your 14 pt spread on the Alhambra game. A down year for O’dowd, they managed to make it respectable with in the final score

  87. Bleacher Coach Says:

does anyone have any info on Miramonte ? Novato and Miramonte have 2 common opponents in San Marin and Foothill (Pleasaton) but I have not had a chance to catch a Miramonte game?

  88. old former meddling coach. Says:

Bleacher Coach,Because you are Larry Reposa. Also, thanks for the word on Fortuna Guys. I looked at the school website and maxpreps.Jet Pride!

  89. Triton8 Says:

Larry, Bleacher Coach or The Real Reposa…..this is my first post in about a year…so its not me. As for Encinal…they didn’t play well agains SV, but you had the feeling they could turn it on whenever they wanted. The SV offense never really made a threat. Encinal has also been playing without one of their top 3 players, #34 Kimani Washington. He will be back next week I think….and he hits like a truck and runs the ball very well. Encinal does everything at an incredible speed…with that, one missed tackle usually means 6 points. They really need to cut down on the penalties though. It seemed like they were in 1st and 15 every time they had the ball. Duckett is truely a man among boys. While MC and Novato I’m sure are very good and fundamental, I don’t think they have seen speed, nor can they simulate the speed in practice, like Encinal’s???

  90. Scl alum Says:

Any thoughts on Novato – Miramonte next Saturday?

    My own prediction:

    Novato 42, Miramonte 15

  91. eastbayfbfan Says:

u really think they are gonna put up that many points against the mats?

  92. Scl alum Says:

I don’t have an iron in the fire in the Miramonte / Novato game, but know Novato has a pretty potent offense, and generally dont give up a lot of points. They are pretty tough at home. I hope Miramonte plays them close

  93. $wag Says:

Just to remind some of people…..
MC lost by 3 against Encinal last year in the semi finals and everyone on Enicinal was healthy

Novato lost by a touchdown against Encinal in the championship, and Encinal didnt have they’re star quarterback

  94. Kyle Bonagura Says:

Encinal’s QB, Jonathan Brown, definitely played in that win over Novato. In fact, he was probably the reason they won.

It was the WR who missed that game.

  95. Hornets Says:

The difference between last years Novato team and this years team is like night and day. Novato went into the final last year WAY too over confident. This year its one game at a time, getting up when their down and moving forward without looking back. They will have their hands full with the Mats, they want blood. For me, it would be nice to see a rematch between the Hornets and the Jets, but , having the semi-final at home against Fortuna would be soooo much easier.

  96. Hornets Says:

The Encinal/Fortuna game will be live online from a radio station out of Ferndale. I listened last week for the Campo/Fortuna game and the coverage and audio was crystal clear.

    http://www.cifncs.org/sports/football/

  97. Jet4ever52 Says:

    Swag
Yea ur prolly talking about Xavior Milton WR as Kyle said.

    Novato Miramonte game my prediction

Gonna be a nice rematch for Miramonte great games this week.

Also I think Meno #3 and Abraham Amiri #28 didnt play also against Sonoma Valley i believe correct me if i am wrong my dad told me he didnt see Amiri or meno playing. And from what my dad told me SV only got close to the redzone because of penalties correct me if im wrong lol.

  98. old former meddling coach. Says:

Amiri Did play but Meno didn’t. They never got past the 20. Jet Pride!

  99. PERKIN Says:

Who cares about last years Encinal team or what happened. Its ancient history.

  100. jet4ever52 Says:

thanks mr.wiiams good to hear. hows kimani doing?

  101. old former meddling coach. Says:

Kimani is doing fine. Come out to the gae friday. Jet Pride!

  102. old former meddling coach. Says:

    Typo-Game. Jet Pride!

  103. Scl Alum Says:

Any prediction on score of Encinal – Fortuna?

  104. Scl Alum Says:

    My prediction:

    Encinal 35, Fortuna 22

(Hope the Huskies play them tough)

  105. ehsalum Says:

I’m pulling for the Huskies, but facing the number 1 is tough. Go Fortuna!

  106. Triton8 Says:

#28 played against SV and was hitting like a truck.
Is #34 gonna play again this year….Friday?

  107. Scl Alum Says:

Want to say ‘way to go’ to Miramonte. I was disappointed when my team fell short to the Mats in Healdsburg last week in a close game, but want to give you props on pulling off a big win at Novato and getting a shut-out.

  108. perry Says:

scl alum ….. thanks. that’s classy of you. that game yesterday was HUGE for the mats.

my son’s a senior on the team and i hope he and the other seniors get two more games this year). :-)

  109. Scl Alum Says:

Right on Perry. My best to your son and team. I hope they can pull another upset against Encinal. Won’t be easy game, but probably the only invincible NCS team would be DLS. Glad they’re in D1

  110. ... Says:

Dfal is looking a little tougher now huh

  111. perry Says:

thanks, scl. i’m STILL pumped from yesterday’s win. :-) i can’t even imagine what i’d feel like, if we beat encinal. no question, though, encinal is a great team. and, yes, i’m glad dls is d1.

  112. eastbayfbfan Says:

where is old former meddling coach? lol whats wrong with washingtons knee?

  113. #1 Says:

    Washington’s back!

  114. Scl Alum Says:

Does anybody have any score predictions for Encinal – Miramonte?

  115. Scl Alum Says:

    I’m predicting: Encinal 20, Miramonte 21

  116. yomama Says:

The only way Miramonte is going to beat Encinal is if Ken Dorsey returns to the Mat’s. Ain’t goin’ to happen, too much speed and line.

  117. eastbayfbfan Says:

how fast really is encinal. i hear about all this speed but how do u know? three of their star players graduated last year. duckett is good and their line is big but miramonte also has a lot of team speed .

  118. old former meddling coach. Says:

Scl Alum 115, I saw Miramonte play Novato. Miramonte played a great game and i give them their props but i don’t believe they can beat my Jets. As far as speed Eastbayfbfan.. Well lets just say that if you blink we’re gone. Jet Pride!

  119. eastbayfbfan Says:

    @old former meddling

how fast did miramonte look against novato?

  120. ... Says:

Miramont @ Encinal Alhambra @ MC predictions

  121. Scl Alum Says:

    Old Meddling Coach,

I predict it to be a great game, one of those ‘to bad there has to be a loser’ type of a game. I wouldn’t mind, to be honest, who would win

  122. Scl Alum Says:

I predict Alhambra to win at MC 38-35

  123. old former meddling coach. Says:

eastbayfbfan, As far as faster i’d say they were even but Miramonte imposed their will and executed Their game plan. Good ground game and in the air. Novato seemed like they had no energy or sense of urgency. The Only Novato player going 100% every play was #33 Kraft. Stud of a player. Jet Pride!

  124. eastbayfbfan Says:

    what happened to washingtons knee?

  125. eastbayfbfan Says:

also, where is the d3 championships being played this year? dublin or the coliseum?

  126. ... Says:

what does everyone think of MC’s offense and defense cause i feel that while they may have strong wins they only played 3 good teams.
    Las Lomas
    St Ignatius
    Novato

  127. Scl Alum Says:

MC can put points on the board, but were they were fortunate to squeak by Analy after leading by 24 going into the 4th quarter. You gotta give Analy credit though for making it a game

  128. Triton8 Says:

For the sake of NCS respect I hope that Encinal wins….how will that look to have a 7-6 team in the finals? That’s not evn saying they wouldn’t deserve it, because they seem to get better every week lately….but it would just look bad from 30,000 feet…

  129. footballfan Says:

If there is a Northbay team and an Eastbay team in the final it will have to be at a Northbay school since the NCS rotates every year and it was at Dublin last year…..two eastbay teams would put it at Dublin probably…Raiders don’t want highschools playing there anymore.

  130. footballfan Says:

triton-it’s not impossible. Terra Linda did it in 2004. Bunch of guys came back from injury and ran through the Redwood Empire bracket in dominating fashion.

  131. eastbayfbfan Says:

u have to admit tho if miramonte did make it to finals it would be one hell of a story. with everything going on in their offseason, starting off shaky then coming on strong when it really counts. should be a good game this friday night in oakland. give the mats some credit

  132. Jet4ever52 Says:

    Eastbayfan
    correction in Alameda not oakland

  133. Scl Alum Says:

I kinda like the late bloomer teams like Miramonte. I remember my senior year of high school (many moons ago), there was only an 8 team field when they initiated the Redwood Empire NCS 2A format, and one of the last-seeded teams, San Rafeal, only finished 5-5 regular season, but beat everyone (my alma mater included) in the playoffs, finishing 8-5.

  134. Scl Alum Says:

    Pac 10 “championship” game..

    Oregon State 16
    Oregon 14 (4:30 2nd q, now Ducks ball)

  135. eastbayfbfan Says:

why is everyone not giving miramonte absolutely any chance of beating encinal?

  136. Scl Alum Says:

I posted an earlier prediction, with the Mats a 21-20 victor over the Jets. Hope they get the upset

  137. old former meddling coach. Says:

Of course Miramonte has a Chance. If that was not the case we wouldn’t need to play the game. But.. My Jets will win. Jet Pride!

  138. perry Says:

scl alum, old former meddling coach, eastbayfan and everyone else … thanks for the props to miramonte. i know that the kids are really frateful to have made it this far (i know we parents are). i’ve been watching some film on encinal this week and i’ll be the first to admit, those boys are fast. in any case, good luck to both teams. i, of course, am obliged to root for miramonte but win or lose, i’m really proud of our boys for pulling together this year. to all of you encinal fans, good luck.

  139. perry Says:

oh yeah … go mats!!! :-)

  140. ... Says:

its great to see the dfal well represented i feel that Miramonte and Alhambra will beat tough to beat.
