The Bishop O’Dowd High School girls volleyball team, by virtue of storming through the North Coast Section Division III playoffs, earned the No. 1 seed in the CIF NorCal playoffs, which start on Tuesday.
The Dragons will play the winner of the play-in game between Skyline, the winner of the Oakland Section, and Foothill-Palo Cedro, the runner-up in the Northern Section.
If the Dragons get past the first round, they will play the winner of the St. Mary’s-Stockton at Valley Christian-San Jose match. Bishop O’Dowd has already beaten St. Mary’s, and has beaten Sacred Heart Cathedral in three games. SHC, which earned the No. 2 seed, beat Valley Christian in three games in the Central Coast Section finals.
In Division I, Amador Valley earned the No. 4 seed, and will host Menlo-Atherton. A win would give the Dons a shot at top-seed Oak Ridge. Using the transitive property (sort of), Bishop O’Dowd beat Oak Ridge this year.
Granada, runner-up to Amador Valley, will face CCS champ Salinas.
Salesian came back from down 2-0 to beat Marin Catholic in the NCS Division IV final, and doing so earned the Pride the No. 2 seed. They’ll face Notre Dame-Salinas, which lost to Sacred Heart Prep in the CCS finals.
