Well from what I understand he injured that same ankle during their first game of the year and it was a big reason he was playing primarily defense for most of the year. They really didn't use him a lot at RB until the City Final and against DLS until he went down. He is without a doubt one of the most electrifying players you will ever see at the high school level. Some people have been saying that Pete Carroll was watching him as an eighth grader. He reminds me quite a bit of Reggie Bush but he may be a little quicker and hits that hole harder then Bush did. It will be fun to watch him develop and yes he is only a junior. Guys like that don't come around very often.

I didn't get a chance to see the game, but I did catch a highlight of Ward's TD when Mamba got hurt. I'm sure if Mamba knew in advance that even though he was going to be successful in causing the fumble it wasn't going to count, he would have just let him score and not gotten hurt. A major turning point in the game to be sure. I can't believe he only got 6 carries, but scored 2 long TDs and impressed everyone so much. Is he just a junior?

The difference is that DLS is much deeper than Shaw and had Ward gone down like that, they still had Anderson to carry the load, while Shaw's offense halted. Unfortunately, injuries are part of the game, even at the high school level.

DE LA SALLE ranked #12 in the Nation!

That is a pretty good ranking I think for a team that started off the season slow, but really turned it up at the end to win the CIF State Championship Title. Crenshaw also stayed in top 30 at #29 season end.

Congratulations to the boys from Sparta! Wow! An amazing display of poise under pressure. I was at the game and as a DLS faithful, I can tell you that the Shaw is the real deal. Lighting fast, disciplined and overall great display of sportsmanship! BTW, Don Bosco was crowned mythical national champion today. Congrats Ironmen! Congratulations to all the NCal teams for representing the North very well this weekend!

I saw the Rocklin game, too and wasn't at all surprised to see the one player from rocklin step on the qtr backs hand but was disappointed to see the unsportsmanship. I only saw half of the Dela game, but the first half Crenshaw was trying to give Dela the business, but Dela's defense didn't give up. Also, I was impressed with the discipline of the Crenshaw team, which proves city kids can be disciplined, too and Crenshaw's o-line was bigger than Dela's d-line. Congratulations Modesto-Christian and Dela for pulling out the wins for Nor Cal.

1) I already told you, Nevada Union WON their Section for Division I and did not play in a CIF Bowl Game. So obv you can't "win your way into a CIF Bowl Game."

2) MaxPreps already says on their website that Terron Ward finished just 5 yards short of the school record. So then we know Walsh still is the King.

3) Who is De La Salle playing next year in September??

there are two criteria to getting selected for bowl games right? Yes getting selected by a committee is one of them and...winning your section title. You can't lose and get selected. You have to win. And you can't even be looked at for a bowl game unless you win first. So therefore it stands to reason that a team must win their way into a bowl game because if you lose their is no bowl game. BTW NCS playoffs are exclusionary as well (not including this year). A committee picks and seeds the teams and some are left home. It used to be only eight teams were picked.
