Former O’Dowd star now committed to Cal

According to our Cal beat writer, Jonathan Okanes, former Bishop O’Dowd football player Chris Martin has committed to Cal.

BEAR TALK BLOG

Martin is the third-ranked DE in the nation according to Scout.com and joins Monte Vista’s David Wilkerson as a Cal-commit. He went to O’Dowd for three years before transferring to Grandview High in Aurora, Colo., for his senior year.

He originally committed to Notre Dame on signing day early this year.

East Bay Boys Soccer Notebook

It’s probably safe to say that at 1-4-0, the College Park High School boys soccer team didn’t get off to the start that it wanted to.
But luckily for the Falcons, the season is more than just five games long.

Holiday Classic All-Star Football Game rosters (UPDATED)

Here are the rosters released to me today for the  Holiday Classic All-Star Football Game, an all-star game pitting the East Bay vs. Sacramento to be played Saturday, Dec. 26 at 2 p.m. at Grant High in Sacramento. The event is in its fourth year, although it previous only covered as far south at the Stockton-Modesto-Merced region. Berkeley’s Alonzo Carter is the East Bay’s head coach, assisted by Concord’s Brian Hamilton, Ygnacio Valley’s Chris Turner, Castlemont’s James Barnes and McClymonds’ Curtis McCauley. Sacramento will be coached by Grant’s Mike Albergini, who suddenly has some free time, and Del Oro’s Casey Taylor.

I apologize for any mispelled names. I’ve made some corrections, but I can assure you the list I was sent has some mispellings that I’m unaware of. If you see any, kindly note them in the comment section and I’ll correct. Also, some players are listed at positions other than where they played in high school and so I’m listing them as they are on the roster I was given.

Advance tickets can be purchased at www.wannaplaycollegesports.com by clicking on the News10 logo.
