I thought Berkeley might get more than 1 first place vote, after the way they have played against both Carondelet and St. Mary’s of Stockton. Not that Bishop O’Dowd isn’t a great team, but they did lose to #3 Carondelet earlier this season (and also beat them).
Berkeley’s 3 losses were to the #1 team in the nation St. Mary’s who they played very close, Potter’s House of Florida who was ranked in the top 10 in the nation at the time (now #19) and Hanford, who made it to the SoCal finals last year and have almost everyone back. Plus, they have beaten not only Carondelet, but Modesto Christian, who is ranked #30 in the nation, and a very good 15-2 Dougherty team by 30.
I guess it really doesn’t matter, as they are both great teams, but I just expected more of a split vote on the top ranking. I guess BOD would need to lose a game to get knocked off.

BOD team is on a roll and taking no prisoners. Historians might remember the Hobbs Eagles in N.M. under legend Coach Ralph Tasker. Famous for “over the top” up tempo full court pressure every minute, his boys high school team averaged over 100 points in the 1960′s with no 3 point shot. Done with pressure defense fondly called “32 minutes of Hell”. O’Dowd plays the same game which is hell on the opponents and heaven for players. Will wait to see if game plan will work with more quality teams in playoffs.
